The Pirate King

Does anyone have any performance tips for Stars?

I'm seriously considering singing Stars at my school talent show this spring, and I was just wondering if anyone has advice or tips for the performance.

It's all in my range, by the spring it should sound good if I practice on it. I've played The Pirate King before, which is a similar voice part.

Any advice? And what should I use as a backing track?

live piano works good for B/T if not u can buy one on iTunes i think. if u have problems finding a B/T il get u sorted if i can be assed. have u ever seen the show? Javert is a Prison master type bloke... very stationary, linear, fact driven, think gradgrind out of Dicken's Hard Times a bit.

Stars is a very still performance, a reflection, a thought - the first sort of poetic segment Javert has in the show. its a moment of prayer, of beauty... just try and incorporate that... the song as a whole is a crescendo so start off in awe, and end in determination. any thing else u need, just ask...

Oh yeah, I'm definitely a Les Miz fan. Never seen it live, but I have a couple of the cast recordings and have seen the Tenth Anniversary Concert.

Thanks for the input.

Alright, iTunes, no luck.
I tried removing the vocal from the CSR recording using Audacity, and it leaves a pretty distinct echo, especially at the beginning of the track. It may be usable, but do you think you have a better option? Could you help me? It would be much appreciated.

I have the instrumental track. PM me and I can see about working something out.
