I Need Your Opinions!!!

Who thinks Bahorel should have been in the play? I mean, they had to be rid of just ONE of the Les Amis, so why not have all of them instead?

He actually is in the show. He's the student in the Montparnasse track.

There's no Bahorel character in the ensemble? Wow, I'd never noticed that before. *has learned something new*

If he's not, then I'm guessing it would have all be down to the production side of making a musical. You know, who plays what role, how many voices do we need in the chorus, how many artists do we have on payroll?

Frankly though, I know that the Friends of the ABC is where a lot of the "fangirl" focus is at and there's a lot of thought that they deserved more stage time etc, etc, but while a 6-hour miniseries might be able to cover that material, a 3 hour musical simply can't, and I think it honours Hugo's characters and the points he was putting across with them perfectly well as it is.

Bahorel isn't in the show. I can't believe I'd never noticed that.

That post in front of mine wasn't there when I posted. I'm confused. But never mind. That explains that, and apologies to The Very Angry Woman.

I thought Bahorel being in the show was apocryphal. He's not listed in the playbill as such and he doesn't get any lines, even if the actor in that track secretly knows he's playing Bahorel.

Very Happy Very Happy Yes. Only him and a bunch of obssessive fans like us share the "secret knowledge" that the anonymous student with the red waistcoat who gets shot in the first attack is Bahorel. It's so weird that he doesn't have a name, because in a certain way he is more in character that some of the students who actually get a name. I've always wondered if there's some private joke behind it.

But that's one of the things I love about the show. All the little details that 99'99% of the audience will never notice but are still there, nevertheless.
