Les Mis London Alumni... What's next?

So.... this topic may go down like a lead balloon, but I thought it might be nice to have a topic for posting what our favourite Mizzies are doing next. It will also stop a bit of spammage on the Cast Change page Smile

So, we know that David is signed on for Passion (though I am seriously worried about how bad his back is!) for Sept - Nov 2010; and Nancy has "a few things lined up" including the cabaret in July. Any other exciting news?

Sophie is joining the "Sound of Music" tour, isn't she?!
All I know from Antony so far is that he is definitely not going back to Joseph Wink, but I think he and some others are waiting for auditions at WWRY and Phantom (or waiting for recalls) now, their cast changes are in early September which would be a good time indeed. I hope most can stay in London and secure a job very quickly.

Oh, and I think this topic is an amazing idea, we should have done this earlier - obviously, with a cast change, cast members also kind of "change fandoms", but I think it would be nice to have news and also reviews about "our" alumni in here. : )

Yeah, Antony said he's just auditioning for everything right now. Including Phantom. I read somewhere that he wants to be the youngest Phantom ever or something.

I think Antony could do really well in Phantom- there is something very Raoul-esque about him Smile

I was just going to say, I definitely don't see Antony as a Phantom at all, he's just very... Raoul somehow. He could do that well, and he'd be very convincing. I can also see Mark in POTO actually. Many Les Mis people wander over to Phantom at one point anyway.
I'm slightly annoyed by the fact that there isn't much of substance and actual original quality in the West End, most shows are either strictly based on movies or they're jukebox musicals (or... sequels). I struggle to be very interested in many of those and, with Les Mis being on the more serious side of things, I can't imagine most of them in anything like Mamma Mia, Dirty Dancing and Grease. And I think these three are the shows that I'd refuse to go and see for them, actually.

Latest News from Nancy's Site (though I am sure you have all seen it already...)

Quote:
I have a gig coming up on the 19th July at the STAG in Victoria, I will be singing lots of my favourites! Booking details will be up shortly.
I will be doing more gigs in the year which I will post soon, David Thaxton and I will be performing a concert together in Norfolk in the summer (details up soon!!) and possibly another with Anthony Hansen later in the year in London.

As much as I'd love to see Antony as Raoul it's already been confirmed that Will Barratt is taking over from Simon Bailey in September. It would be nice if Antony got first cover though, I think he'd do the role justice.

He's still very young, so maybe in a year or two he will get it. Is there a link with the new cast on it? V.curious....

If I'm right, Thomas Camilleri is auditioning for/has auditioned the role of Nikos or Carlos in Legally Blonde. Pretty interesting, actually.

So, from what's out there, Mark will be in the new WWRY cast and Katy will join POTO.

Antony will be playing Fred in Gutter Press the Opera. It's a new musical, I think, never heard of it... It's on August 21 & 22, at the Tete-a-Tete Opera Festival, Riverside Studios, Hammersmith.

Didn't see any board regulars there, but just thought I would briefly mention Nancy Sullivan's Cabaret at the Stag (a few weeks back now).

It was a fabulous evening - small venue with about 40 people. Nancy did a great selection of songs, including "Your Daddy's Son" from Ragtime, "Still Hurting" from The Last 5 Years, the hilarious "Girl of Few Words" and "As Long As He Needs Me" and quite a few KT Tunstall numbers.

Highlight of the night was a duet with David Thaxton to "Broken Strings" by James Morrison. Just wow. ETA - Oh, look it's here :

On other news, David has been work shopping the new version of Little Women (NOT the Broadway one - a new British version). http://www.facebook.com/pages/London-United-Kingdom/David-Ball-Productions/272397624650?__a=4&

Passion opens 1 month today Very Happy
