Les Mis Parodies

Always fun!

Jest End: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJ5Wv7n84BQ
Forbidden Broadway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJW4gfbJ8No
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR9eX0PAg7I

And I'm sure others will add some!
Lauraa

^ Laughing I love the first one.

I think this has already been mentioned somewhere before but...

And I LOVE the Enjolras bit this:

I love that So Jest End one - I think I prefer it to the Forbidden Broadway ones! I saw FB this year and didn't find it as funny as I find Jest End.
Since I saw that, a little part of me is disappointed every time I go to the show and DT steps out in ODM but doesn't sing "One more year like a foghorn!"

Its a parody of the anime. The clouds are jealous of Enjolras.

The famous Helen Keller The Musical episode in which the assistant director is a parody of Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean. Well worth watching...especially for the Bring Him Home parody when Kenny dies.

The newest Jest End video [from December] has been put up - it's the same content as the first one (Stare and One More Year), except it's a different cast and much clearer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR_xRd3q1Oc

(I saw it a few weeks before it was filmed and spent the show with my scarf stuffed in my mouth to stop myself from laughing too loudly!)

Oh, my this is embarrassing. I just read that while sitting in my campus coffee shop, and had to stop myself from laughing hysterically out loud! Thanks for that! Laughing

Oh my god I was laughing so hard when Cartman said something about Tim Rice writing the lyrics to POTO

They aren't as good as the script parody but they're mildly amusing

Les Mis parodies do nothing for me anymore. I guess everything has been so overdone, it's predictable. Having been a fan for nearly 25 years now hasn't helped either, heh.

I think the last parody thing that actually made me laugh was something Bracklyn posted but I can't remember in which thread it was posted at.

Me too. So much my sister tried to smother me. It's actually very fun to sing.

I read the POTO and Spring Awakening ones and they all had loads of hilarious Les Mis references too.
MSam

LOVED Les Misbarack. Laughing

Especially the bit where Eponine rises and sings 'ONE MORE DAY ALL ON MY OWN!'.

I found the abridged version to be hilarious too. Smile

I just watched that! GENIUS! I always liked Jehan, I love how he starts every entry with "OH GOD". My favourite names have to be 'Mr. My Ponytail is longer than yours' and 'Mr. Are my pants tight enough?'.

Edit: Typo.

This parody fanfic, "The Miserable Diaries" had me literally howling with laughter. I think most of you may probably have already read it, but I thought I'd post the link just the same:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1168586/1/The_Miserable_Diaries

my favourite ones are Courfeyrac and Legles. Enjoy!!

Hilarious! I don't think it's quite as funny as Enjolras: Saint or Sinner but it's very close.

L'Aigle's "I like the way you grow your hair." "I like the way you always sneeze" was genius!

Omigosh...I think I just died laughing!! What was with Javert and his love of playgrounds!!?? Hhahahahaha!!!

This is another one of my favorites, the girl who plays Javert in it says she is going to get the sound up soon, but just watching it gets me in a giggle fit. Oh and watch part 1 and part 2 also...Part 2 is epic win,

and Lesgles having to rub the pigeon poo out of his tri-colour sash. It's a genius mixture or the book and the musical. And the "queue to get into E's pants" is hilarious too - in a thoroughly shameless, rather tasteless way that made it all the more amusing!

All the way to Poland, apparently. I've still not quite gotten used to the idea of a slutty Enjy. Victor Hugo would probably turn in his grave. It is very funny though. It's just a shame there isn't one for Joly, I'd have thought his hypochondria would be comic gold if written right.

Omigosh, then you need to read House of Mizzy by LifeXbeyondXtheXmountains on Fanfic, its in the catagory "Les Miserables" "Books" At times it can be hard to follow but it is hillarious! everyone lives in a mansion together and there neighbors are Erik, Christine, and Raoul. EPIC WIN! seriously it had me going FOR DAYS!! It just needs some Grammar work.

I read about half of that one... I wasn't so keen. It seemed to pick up on the basic characteristics of the characters, but then just chuck in a load of stuff that was unrelated...

The miserable diaries is definitely my favourite. And yes, "slutty" and "Enjolras" really don't go together for me, but it seemed to fit in the context... somehow.

...and on the subject on FanFic, my favourite post is called "A Passion for the Absolute" - it's definitely not a parody (and slash warnings for those of you with aversions to that sort of thing) but it's humourous, the detail is remarkable it's the best fanfic characterisations I've ever read. Especially regarding Enjolras. I think he's quite hard to pin down when it comes to writing his character, but I love the way he's portrayed here.

Shocked ...Yeah...Nothing like a Slutty fanfic Rolling Eyes *goes and helps Victor turn back to normal in his grave* LOL! It s pretty funny though..

I read a bit of House of Mizzies. It was quite funny but a little too surreal for me. Especially the idea of Eponine keeping everyone awake by listening to what I assume is "Lady Marmalade". Still, nice to see that people can find humour in what I think is the saddest book ever written.

I also read up to chapter four of Passion for the Absolute. Given that it's the first slash fic I've ever read, I thought it was quite sweet. I couldn't quite get whether the mood was meant to be serious or comic or both. I liked the portrayal of Enjy, though.

Well, half the humor in the Miserable Diaries comes from bad fanfic tropes and clich Ami characterizations, so it's no surprise Enjolras sleeps with everyone. Laughing He already has slept with everyone in various fics, just... er... not all in the same story... (well, except in Wasp's Nest, but that doesn't count because the entire idea was to carry "lol all the students are sleeping with each other" to its most extreme conclusion)

And yes, do go read Passion for the Absolute! I might be biased because the author is one of my best friends and I occasionally proofread new chapters, but it's an excellent fic. Everything she writes is brimming with historical detail and humor and fresh characterizations of the Amis that are pulled from both the novel and the literary history of the 1830s... but what makes that fic special is that it not only justifies the pairing with something besides "they're hot together," it bothers to explore the moral and social ramifications of carrying on a same-sex love affair at the time.

I agree, normally I don't go in for slash but PftA is incredible. Any idea when there will be a chapter 10? *hopeful expression* Smile
