It's not easy to find, but it is around.

You might want to hit up someone in the David Campbell fandom...

It's 10:44 long. I'll upload it soon, but it's late and I have to get up early for school...

smokeyspotlight

What the...?!!! That was BRILLIANT!!!! Whats the story behind that? Les mis Rhapsody? Was it the cast who did it? Thanks for uploading it Fantine, that was the best thing to come out of this forum for me!!!
Fantine

It was done by the cast of Sydney during their last performance or some sort of Anniversary... I'm sure TVAW could tell you more about this.

Les Mis Tenth Anniversary Production in Sydney, Australia in 1997/8 I think. I've heard it was from the charity concert that the cast did with the company of 'The Boy From Oz', but I don't know if that is correct or not.
musicalmaniac4

i downloaded the song but i cant play it on windows media player. What do i need to do now?
Orestes Fasting

.ra and .ram files are in RealPlayer format. Google 'real alternative' or 'realplayer alternative' to download a program that can play them.

You could download RealPlayer itself, but it puts all sorts of spyware and crap on your computer, and isn't very good anyway. (As of a few years ago at least. If it's gotten any better I wouldn't know, since I've been using Media Player Classic for ages.)
musicalmaniac4

so i can only play it on real player, dose anyone know of a version this song but for media player.
musicalmaniac4

okay i got it to play, but is this the same song? i say that beause i know the last time it was posted someone put up the lycis and they were diffrent from what im hearing, if i rember right they were something like i dont know but they used 24601 alot it maybe the same song.

No, it wasn't -- it was just Les Miz; the entire original Sydney revival cast. (List here: http://abc-cafe.com/lesmis/tour/sydcast.htm )

The video clips that are floating around were professionally recorded, with the intent of distribution and sale. From what I understand, the company which recorded it didn't go through the proper channels, and as a result, the video was never officially released to the public. At least one got out, though, as you can see.

I can't remember the entire group which particpated in this, but it was made up of six or seven guys. David Campbell, Peter Murphy, Benjamin Howes, and Karlis Zaid were definitely in it. (Karlis is the one doing the "guitar" solo; Benjamin is the one singing, "I'm an actor, I'm an actor!")

Too bad that's not a video -- they do the "rock out" hand gesture and a very fast version of the ODM march at one point. It's hysterical.

I believe Jonathan Brooke Densem wrote the lyrics, but I'm not entirely sure.

Les Miserables Rhapsody Parody.

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Sweaty and grimy, no escape from the barricade
Were part of the team
Thats dreaming the dream
Oh please

Im just a chorus boy [a chorus boy]
I need no sympathy
Because its easy come, easy show
Simply let your hair grow

When will the show close?
Sometime next millennium-um-um
Oh bum, bum, bum

Les Mis, a rhapsody
After playing all these years
Its still bringing them to tears
Les Mis, it is crap-sody
Its far too long and needs a lot more jokes

Tragedy, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh [get out your hanky]
you know were gonna die
but thats okay, we all come back to life
in the end, in the end
So it doesnt really matter

24601, 24601

Valjean
[Jean Valjean]
Youre big and strong
[Hes really big and strong]
But it seems a little weird
That you never shave your beard

Javert
Wont forget you
[we'll never forget you]
which scenes you play
[watch your back]
Monsieur Le Maire youll wear a different chain

Fantine
[oh Fantine lovely bald and with the pox]
A whore gone to the bad
Youve really come a long way since 'hey dad'
Oooh-ooh-ooh etc.

Id like a job in another company
Boy from Oz, pay the RENT, take a gamble on Showboat
I'd be at my bestie working for the STC
In Othello, [in Othello], in Othello [in Othello] in Othello or King Lear
Les Misrables

I'm just a chorus boy, nobody loves me
Hes just a chorus boy, sighing for eternity
Theres no escape from this monstrosity
Do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do

Easy come, easy go,
Can I leave the show?

Please let me go,
I will not do the show
One day more! (4x)

Let me go!
No, no, no, no, no!

But Im an actor, Im an actor
I'm an actor - cant you see?
Sir Cameron has a contract put aside for me, for me, for me!

[electric guitar solo]

Take an eye for an eye, turn your heart into stone
This is all I have lived for, and all I have known
Empty chairs, stuck behind empty tables
Somethings not right
God, where the ---- are my friends?

[Can you hear all the flash people sing?]

[who, who am I?]

She has burst like music
Angels and the sun
Something old is over,
Something new has scarcely begun.

To the barricade
Yeah!

There is one, actually, but it's very difficult to find. It's of the entire concert and I don't even own it. I've seen the video of this song, which is even funnier than listening to it, as I'm sure you can imagine.

From what I remember, the guys singing in the song are David Campbell, Peter Murphy, Karlis Zaid, Adam Murphy, and Benjamin Howes. The lightning was very similar to the original Queen music video, and during the heavy guitar riff, the guys did the "One Day More" march while holding their hands up with their middle and ring fingers closed (a typical "rock" gesture).

I believe Jonathan Brooke Densem wrote the lyrics, but I could be wrong.
musicalmaniac4

yeah i guess this is the song thanks for writing the lyrics down. One other thing i downloaded real player so it will now play on media player but i cant burn it to a CD-R so my question is can i burn it on Real Player and if so how, Real Player is so confusing to me.
Fantine

When I put in a disc in my E (that's my Burning rom thingy), a pop up appears with the possible programs you can use to burn, and real player is among those.

But I guess that this only counts for Win XP.
flying_pigs

I downloaded Real Player Alternative but it still won't let me play it help!
olly

A couple of things:

1. Can I convert the realplayer format into the iTunes format so I can put it on my iPod etc?

2. That's not the parody I was talking about; though that one was very funny. I have another one that I'll upload. The beginning is a bit odd, and doesn't sound like Les Mis, but when you get onto the Bring Him Home bit, it's very good: Oh, and it's in iTunes format.

It's the 'More Miserable Sequence' from 'Forbidden Broadway, Volume 2'.
Carmen Cusack does a great version of 'I Dreamed A Show' incidently. The beginning that is a 'bit odd and doesn't sound like Les Mis' is taken from 'C'est Magnifique' by Cole Porter.

'Ten Years More' off 'Volume 5' is a good 'Les Mis' parody too and there is also 'Miz 2001' off 'Forbidden Broadway 2001: A Spoof Odyssey'
musicalmaniac4

i already know about the menu poping up, but it didnt for me.

Do you have the Ten Years More? I was searching for that but never found it.

Did Carmen Cusack sing 'I Dreamed a Show'??
Timmy_Wishes he was Quast

I think you can BUY most of Forbbiden Broadway on Itunes. for a 79p per track.

Only "Forbidden Broadway - A Special Victims Unit"

and

"Forbidden Broadway, Vol. 7 - 2001 A Spoof Odyssey"
smokeyspotlight

A whore gone to the bad
Youve really come a long way since 'hey dad'

What do they mean by that? That line gets one of the biggest laughs from the song- and as we all know- I'm not much in the brains department- and just don't get it!!!
Moci

'Hey Dad...!' was an Australian sitcom that the Fantine for Sydney and Melbourne, Rachael Beck had been in, hence "You've really come a long way since 'Hey Dad...!'." I had to Google that one the first time I heard it, so you're not alone. Very Happy
