London news: Cassie Compton new Eponine

http://www.myspace.com/cassieofficial
http://www.londonmusicalsonline.com/news1.php?ID=56

I think she'll be great. (In fact, when I saw her in The Secret Garden I was thinking "wouldn't surprise me if she's cast as Eponine a few years down the line"!)
eponine5

My heart leapt when I saw that Sabrina Aloueche is leaving and the new Eponine has been announced...but it sank when I saw that she's from X Factor Confused
Her voice doesn't sound bad though, I'm not sure what it would be like when she's belting. I don't watch X Factor, but has anyone seen her? is she any good?

I hope she can belt Smile and is hopefully more interesting than Sabrina Razz

Any other cast change news?

Why is Sabrina leaving?
(I always wonder when it isn't about contract ending)

She doesn't seem too bad, but a bit strained towards the end. Eponine's songs would probably be better suited to her voice. I remember seeing her as a drug addict in 'Casualty' and she seemed as if she can play psycho street-waif well. Smile

She's not on until June 25th. Sabrina Aloueche's contract should have ended by then.

JOJ is probs staying for a few months Very Happy

Ah I see Moci Smile

She sounds okay. I'm curious to see her as Eponine.

I think that she will be great. Listen to the track Freedom on her myspace...she is belting on that!

Just read that article, I think she is still 19.

And she was only just turned 17 when she sang on the x factor so I reckon she must be pretty good by now.

Think I will go and check it out when she starts.

Moci!!! So nice to see you Very Happy

Sad I just looked at other pages on londonmusicalsonline, Hans Peter Janssens is staying... He's not so bad, but how likely is it that both the Javert AND Valjean stay? Especially since John Owen-Jones has been here for 2 years already. Crying or Very sad
music is my life!!!

i hope she doesn't whine, because whining annoys me and if she does that i won't be happy

John say he is might stay for a few more months so don't become dis-heartened yet! I like HPJ, better than Cornell John anyway!

If you are refering to Cassie, I have been to see her in shows and listened to loads of her stuff and I've never heard a whine or a note sung threw her nose, ever!

She has a huge big chest voice.

that's good! i'm going to see lm in london next week...when does her contract start?
music is my life!!!

wow! just watched the clip... perfect but she sometimes is weak in her lower range... great belting though! Applause Applause Applause

Well, it's personal opinion. I personally don't like her. I saw her 3 times, and once was enough if I'm honest! I just find her portrayal slightly boring.
music is my life!!!

ok maybe i should go to see cassie later in the year.... 3times?
flying_pigs

Yeah, I mainly went to see JOJ and the ensemble as they're amazing Smile

I personally really liked Sabrina Aloueche in the role of Eponine, have seen her twice now and feel she has become a very strong performer. She recieved the biggest round of appause after OMO and her death scene was the best I'd seen.
Its all about personal taste with the characters from Les Miserables and I think you should definately make your own mind up about any given performer.
Jeff Nicholson is also an AMAZING Javert, I recently found out that was whom I saw the night I went last week. Applause

John Owen-Jones is definately staying on at least through the summer! I asked at the box office, it made my yesterday! Very Happy

I was so sad when I found out that Gina Beck is leaving. But what's good is she's going on to play the lead in a new musical in Plymouth this July!

It's in the news section.
The music from it actually sounds really good. The site is http://www.imaginethismusical.com/imag_about.shtml As an incentive to listen to it, Aaron Lazar's on the concept album. Razz (Although Gina Beck isn't).

I'm so glad John is staying on Very Happy

I saw him in Cats, I think and he tripped during his song. Most entertaining part of the evening. Wink

No way, I saw him in Evita and he tripped up during one song as well. Ended up on the floor but got on with that like a pro!

New Grantaire: Richard Woodford.
eponine5

At least if he trips this time, it would be in character! Laughing

Oh No! How will I ever accept a new Grantaire after Jeff Nicholson? Crying or Very sad

I know... but after seeing him in Les Mis so many times, I really am ready to see him do something different. He's such a talented young man with a great future ahead of him.
