Darling, I'd love some of that, I could share it all day, it's a meal that keeps on giving.

This is the only thing I've seen:

The Sunday Times, April 2nd 2006
Richard Brooks: Biteback

Les Misrables is 21 this year. Not only has the hugely successful musical broken many box-office records, it was seen as fit to serve before the Queen: a shortened version was staged for President Chiracs 2004 visit to Windsor Castle. The story line about the 19th-century Parisian proletariat must at least have amused Her Maj.
Now, I hear of proposals to stage a special 21st-birthday performance outdoors in Hyde Park, and for the BBC to record it. The date pencilled in is the Saturday after the Last Night of the Proms, using the same stage as Proms in the Park.

Great idea, provided the weather in mid-September holds. But I wonder what wealthy nearby residents, who are beginning to kick up a fuss about the noise of more and more concerts in Londons royal parks, will think about Les Mis alfresco.
Fantine

So what date would that be?????

'The Last Night of the Proms' this year is Saturday 9 September, so that'd make it 16th September I think. Hyde Park would be cold. Wink
smokeyspotlight

Cold? Who cares! Sounds like it is going to be aboslutely incredible! Bet that the ticket prices are going to be absolutely incredible too! Still- it'll be worth being there. I wonder if they'll be a hole in the gate like at Glasto......?

Assuming this is all true, I hope it will be broadcast on PBS and that they will release a video/DVD of it, or make a cast recording of the revival broadway cast. I am eager for a new cast recording.

Oh goodness.

But I don't want to see that 40st 40yr old playing my young and in love marius again (mr Ball). He's good. He is good, but lets hear some others who I feel have been in the shadows a bit. That Eric Cuntz is very good- Would like to see him in it.

Oh btw the new Javert 1st cover looks yummy:

Let's not discuss who we do and do not want to see in the anniversary... Okay? There are too many threads ruined with that kind of chatter.

Hmm the 16th... I won't be able to make it. University starts around that time and I can't miss my first few weeks and I already have a show to perform on that day... Here's crossing fingers that it will be on a different date...
