Me as Thenardier

Here is a terrible video of my school's production of Les Miserables. The people singing aren't bad but the video is bad.

Quique

You mean Thenardier, right? d'oh!

Anyway, nice job with the vocals. You sound way mature for a high school student. The cast sounds good.
Trevor reincarnate

Now let me show you how it's REALLY done.

That's a serious atention seeking problem you 've got, Trevor.

You were rude enough the first time you did something like that, when you hijacked Fantine's thread with this same exact video of yours.

Now, you're just pitiful.
Phantom059

Why do you sound like a rat? I posted it for myself, you're dumb.

You're funny. I thought Fantine's thread was aimed toward everyone posting. I made that clear and apologized. So shut up.

And to the original poster... You were off key half the song. And why is it so bad that I sound like a rat? Am I supposed to sound like an angel as Thenardier (which is how you spell it, by the way. Learn how to spell a role you're PLAYING). You sucked. I posted my video to show you how it's done.

And for the record, I posted "Now let me show you how it's REALLY done" as a lighthearted joke... you were just outright rude.

Go cry. Because you suck.
bigR

Of course, Trevor, my little king of the house, because by directing someone to, say, Alum Armstrong's Thnardier, they wouldn't get as a clear an idea of what is a brilliant performance as by listening to Trevor reincarnate.

That's the problem when people try to be polite and show some pity with someone who is so full of himself as you are: that you end up believing that your ridiculously constipated and awfully irritating Thnardier is any good.

Phantom might be ocasionally off key, but that's something you can work on. At least, he has a beautiful voice.

Don't pay to much attention to Trevor, Phantom. Do you see the little stars under his name, where it says that he is a "Broadway Legend". Don't tell anyone but, he thinks they are real! Confused
mastachen

I think you're both good.

Maybe I should post a video of myself so y'all can know what bad really sounds like. lol
Trevor reincarnate

You're so silly bigR. So silly indeed.
Matthew

If I were a casting director and I knew neither of you, I'd cast Trevor because Trevor was a much more interesting character and his character matched better to the writing. Thenardier's supposed to be slimy yet charming. He's a disgusting looking man, and his voice should be the same.

And bigR, I'd appreciate it if you stopped being so condescending towards my friend, Trevor. Your criticism is ridiculous and I doubt if you've ever seen a good production of Les Miserables. Trevor has a GORGEOUS voice. You're utterly silly to think this is how he truly sings. Trevor knows he's not a "Broadway Legend". He has me to tell him that everyday.

Thank you.
Catherine

bigR just watched the London production recently.
Jus' putting that out there.

and if you say that's bad, you'll have me to answer to, lol.

Erm, just trying to inject some light humour into this thread, I haven't listened to any of the audios so I guess I'm not qualified to comment...

I'll shut up now....
Quique

*Slaps both of you*

Enough with the fighting, BOTH OF YOU. Twisted Evil

Let's make nice. Smile

Now Trevor, give BigR a kiss on the cheek. There, much better. XD
Trevor reincarnate

And where is MY kiss?

And Matthew... You're silly. I am a Broadway Legend! Duhhhh.
And my voice isn't gorgeous. It's just... so-so.
No... you're right. It's gorgeous.

Teehee.

bigR, I've played both Thenarider AND Marius and gotten high praise for both roles. Do you think this n00b could POSSIBLY pass as Marius? Doubt it. His voice may work for Thenardier, but that's IT. I never want to hear him singing "A Heart Full of Love". At least I'm versatile enough to play both and sound the way I should sound.
Matthew

Mrow, I'd see his voice better suited for one of the burly men than Thenardier or Marius.
Trevor reincarnate

Brujon, definitely.
Herm1994

I know Phantom059 personally. He has a fantastic voice, and is an amazing actor. He could play Marius if he wanted to. You have no right to judge him if you've never met him.
Trevor reincarnate

Oh hush. We were all over it and then you come along.
Damn_Badgers

Wow, I don't think I've ever come across someone who was as much of a bitch as Trevor.

Jesus man, what sort of person blantantly shuts another person down by going on about how great you are and how terrible other people are.

I would love to hear your Marius if your voice is as wonderful as you think it is. Go on. Just show us your range, beautiful tone and diversity. We all know your amazing. Would love to hear it eh.

Remember just because you can do a decent Thenardier does not make you the best singer in the world. So I'd love to see some more evidence...
The Pirate King

I also have not found much off-key singing in Phantom's video. At least it sounds like he attempted to do something vocally original rather than the typical Alun Armstrong/Barry James/other flamboyant figure hybrid that most seem to prefer. Ew.

EDIT:
Just heard your Next Ten Minutes. I'd rather hear Christopher Lee sing Marius than you. The rat excuse for Thenardier doesn't work when you sound like a rat when you sing anything.
le_moofin

The guy who sings Thenardier in my community theatre is better than either of you... =P

I think it's important to be honest but helpful while giving criticism. Yes, Phantom is frequently off-key. I'm not sure if it's because he's trying to speak-sing at times, which might throw him off, or if it's because he cannot find the pitch. However, he has a very (for lack of better word) deep and mature sound which, with the right vocal direction, could be/is very very promising ^_^

And Trevor sounds fine. No need to bash him even if he does have a bit of an ego (let's be honest, haven't we ALL had bad egos from time to time? This is theatre for heaven sakes... what do you expect?).

Alex, you should totally post something of yours! I'm sure you're not that bad =3

I'm going to pretend you didn't say that. Because I'm over this conversation.

And I know I'm good. Not amazing. But good. And I know I didn't sound like a rat in Next Ten Minutes. Because rats can't sing.

Good day.

Thanks. Very Happy

I think that once agian we have had enough verbal abuse for one thread. It's time for me to put my mod hat on again. This thread is locked.

Folks, this is getting tiring. This is the second thread in the Les Mis forum I have had to lock this week, both for the same reason. As Mumsy would say, "Let's Play Nice Now".

As a general rule, when someone posts a thread and asks for feedback they are looking for CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. They have not just painted a target on their chest and asked everyone else to start shooting. Please keep this in mind, and think twice before you post.
