oh what a rumpus!!!

really bloody good!!!!you sound very eponine and its nice that it sounds a bit rough around the edges. eponine isn't a clean sounding character and i think you sang it perfectly.
you shoulb e up there at the queens methinks smokey!!!!!!!!!
Superstar83

Wow! That was lovely! You really do sound like I imagine Eponine should sound...if you are old enough and it was up to me, I'd cast you, you have such a nice style.

Finally someone posting themselves singing OMO without butchering it or making my ears bleed. Thank you. Smile
smokeyspotlight

I really liked that, i like it when Eponines have the roughyness.

I am a smoker too and i noticed it has made my breathing bad =/. But i am qutting so hopefully it will improve.
smokeyspotlight

What?! Is Les Miserables closing on the West End in January 2007?

It can't... It just... can't!

WHAT???? Closing Les Mis? I mean, I know nothing can last forever but the idea of Les Mis closing...too horrible to think about.

You guys are all flailing over one rumor that isn't even on a news site.

Thank God.

I was actually worried for a minute there...stupid me. Rolling Eyes

Although the voice does sound good - i have to say the reocrding is awful. You can tell where every part has been re-recorded and cut together - especially on the high notes (the 'pretending' just comes in from nowhere and you can clearly hear its been recorded on it's own.)

I'm not saying anything bad about you because you have a good voice, but try and sing it through and have as little re-recordings of parts as possible, because if you do want to play Eponine on the West End it's all live!!!

^^^ What Joe said.

My ex did walk in and said "Ooh, who's that? She's very good!"

I totally agree with that! at the time i had nodules (aaaarrrrgggghhhhhh) and literally couldn't sing 4 lines at a time without my voice tiring out! that recording was done about 7 months ago and i have since lost the nodules and the smoking and can thankfully sing the entire symphonic recording (as practiced in the bath) without so much as a crack!!!!
norayouadora

I agree with that the quality of the recording isn't too good, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Very Happy I'm not too familiar with Les Mis, so I can't offer up much of an opinion as to whether your voice suits Eponine. But personally, I like it when a woman's voice has just a touch of smokiness, and I think the song suits your voice very well. Cheers! Wink

When I click on all the links it says your file has expired. So I didn't get a chance to hear.

I had a whole thing typed out and my bloody laptop decided to flip on me.

Anyways you definitely have that Eponine "sound" to your voice. I really enjoyed the file very much and I think that next time around you should definitely audition because I do believe you have a shot at the role. Really it was quite good.

To add a little bit of constructive criticism from one singer to another, I do find that at some parts you tend to sound a bit nasal. Especially when the song starts to build in emotion. I struggled with this too, it seems like as you want to convey emotion you begin to think less about where you sound is resonating from. This also tends to be something I've noticed a lot of Eponine's have in their sound. You can have the Eponine "voice" without being overly nasal. So just watch on words like .."way" "say" and at the climatic point of the song.

And really even those issues are very small.

So altogether I'd say vocally it was really quite good Very Happy

Hmmm, I actually really enjoyed that. Very nice sound for the character, a few technical imperfections that I just loved, eg. the huskiness. Eponine shouldn't sound like she just stepped out of the Conservatory. Big fan of the vibrato, gave colour without being too intrusive on the sound. Bravo.
Fantine

Wow I really liked that! Definitely the "Eponine sound." I loved! There were some parts where it sounded a little forced, altough that isn't quite the right word, but I don't know how to explain it.

It really reminded me of Frances Ruffelle.

How old are you by the way?
smokeyspotlight

Thankyou everyone. Am really happy with all the positive feedback. I am 21, by the way!!! Very Happy

Yup i know and you should update that file from time to time, who knows maybe a talent hunter is looking around here...you never know. If i was Cameron i would sign you right away...your voice is different; you made me shiver...theres some kind of emotion, tenderness and roughness all mixed together in your voice that makes it really special. Hard to forget.

Good Luck in your coming auditions, you deserve it.
