next cast info?!!!!

i know jon lee is back in for marius but i am not sure who the next eponine is. apparently the next fantine may be touring with ms saigon at the mo as ellen. cast change is set for the 26th of june. any info on eponine, as i reckon she'll be the last to play her for a while.
Aimee

Oh, is Jon coming back? Interesting.
flying_pigs

I don't think Les Mis will finish after this cast change, it will not want to lose the 'longest running musical title' to Phantom as it's only been running a year longer.

I thought it hadn't been confirmed about Jon?

Anyway, JOJ is staying Very Happy

These are definately staying:
Stephen John Davis
Adam Jones
Jeff Nicholson
Robert Archibald (who will be first cover Marius)
David Thaxton
Paul Westhead
Emma Weasthead
Jenna boyed
Tracie Bennett
Laura Brydon
Ruth Brown
John Owen Jones

Hans Peter Janssens will be the new Javert
digitalxdoll

I heard that JOJ was doing Showboat?

SO glad if he is staying.
smokeyspotlight

yeah- jon lee is def doing marius again, there's a new cosette and eponine. i think they will take it out of the west end at the end of the year because a) the Queens is closing for refurbishment and avenue q will be taking the only available theatre.
also, cameron mackintosh wanted to get it to its 21st anniversary to beat Cats.

John's final performance in Les Miserables before Showboat will be Monday May 29th, and he will return to Les Miserables on June 26th for another 12 months.

Aimee

So who will be playing Valjean in the gap?

*whispers Jeff*
Joe Valjean

I'm friends with David Thaxton (currently Bambatios, Joly, Understudy Enjoras and Understudy Bishop) and a few weeks ago he auditioned for Enjoras and 2nd Valjean cover - have't heard from him how he got on though...

Any of you guys seen him?
Aimee

I have, but I admit I don't recall him specifically, sorry. Smile
Kragey

Really excited about the new Eponine and Cosette--I hope they have interesting takes on the characters.

No, but a friend of mine saw him when he was on as Enjolras and said he was quite good--lots better than Shaun Escoffery, at least.
flying_pigs

I want Julia Moller to stay, she's so lovely!
smokeyspotlight

i cannot wait to find out who is taking the roles of cosette and eponine- apparently they are both new to the show- my friend was at the final audition and met both sets of cosettes and eponines and one cosette hopeful was aj from the show, the eponine was laura from the show also the other two were completely new to the west end. interesting huh?!!!! apparently its the other two who bagged the parts. lucky devils!!!
talk of the man who played nick cotton from eastenders is taking the role of thenardier too!!!
Joe Valjean

These Les Mis Auditions that happen every year - do you have to be invited/know certain people or is it open? I always hear about people going for it and i would love to - but never know how...

sometimes they hold open auditions, but as far as i know the last two years have been private auditions only. you can get an audition by asking your agent to put you up for it- or- if unrepresented- simply send off your cv,photo, and cvering letter to cameron mackintosh associates, and request an audition, you can phone the offices for info on audition dates too.
Aimee

I went to the open auditions about 3-4 years ago. It was great fun. I just went when they advertised in The Stage.
Fantine

Apparently Hayden is going to be in 'Titanic'. Sydney...

According to LondonLesMis, Phil Cavill is filling in for John Owen Jones whilst he's in Showboat.
smokeyspotlight

There is a web site that was launched on saturday called londonmusicalsONLINE that has information about all performers of the west end, and about the shows as well.
They have a chapter dedicated to whom the next cast of les mis is going to be, and they have already confirmed JOJ is coming back as JVJ and that phil caville is stepping into his shoes whilst he is off. Also the part of javert has been cast- they have his name but i forgot it- useless!!!
They also have a list of cast members staying on and have confirmed the marius understudy. check it out anyway- they update every day.

Check out a new web site called londonmusicalsONLINE. It was launched on saturday, and is actually very good.
One chapter is dedicated to the next cast of les mis, and they have listed a number of names (confirmed and speculated) that are joining the cast, inc: JVJ, Javert, Madam T, Marius + 1st cover....

Hey, look, a URL! Because those are helpful.
http://www.londonmusicalsonline.com/
Ming and Ling have returned. Well, it was only a matter of time.

Back to Smokey. How is it you managed to post about 34,050 times but not include anymore info besides typo-ridden squealing? And how could you "forget" when all you have to do is open another window to read the damn thing again and then post?
Fantine

Jesus Christ, are we surrounded by fools?
The Very Angry Woman

We're on musicals.net.

("Yes" would be too easy.)
smokeyspotlight

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!! okay- i am very sorry about that! My computer went phsyco on me and kept on submitting, I had to turn the damn thing off from the mains to stop it, and i was not able to open another window to check deatails of cast change as me computer would not allow me access to it. I have rectified this horrible problem:
Hans Peter Jannsens was the man up for Javert anyway.
I apologise to you all. Embarassed

Thanks, I think we were able to read that on the site before you returned to reply.

you could say thanks that I bothered to (try) and tell you about this site in the first place! you are a very very angry woman aren't ya!!!!

Ming and Ling?? Who are they? What an insult! Shocked
And what exactly do you mean when you say that it was only a matter of time before we returned?

Anyway, we have not mentioned anything about Phil Cavill on the website. Someone posted it on the londonlesmis.co.uk forum that he might fill in for JOJ when he is doing Showboat. But as far as we know this is not confirmed.

BTW, thanks for linking to our new site!
smokeyspotlight

A close friend of mine from the cast has told me (just now actually) that John Altman (nick cotton- eastenders) may be taking the role of Thenardier, interesting....
Lilmzmelvin

Yeah, seems interesting! Can he sing?
flying_pigs

You know I posted a list of people staying on the first page? As you sort of seemed to repeat everything I'd said or didn't read it.
smokeyspotlight

What you didn't give was a list of people joining though. We are all trying to slowly figure out whats going on with the new cast, and we are getting there- so stop fretting- does it matter if sometimes things are repeated!?!!
Fantine

Oh my God, Kerry Ellis is going to be Elphaba after Idina Menzel leaves... I don't know if I find this terrible or exiting... It's shocking to say the least.

Fantine >>> Elphaba... Hmmmmmmm.....
Fantine

Thus we have...

John Owen Jones - Jean Valjean
Hans Peter Janssens - Javert
Jon Lee - Marius

And that's the info so far on the leads.. right?
smokeyspotlight

So far it goes like this:
Jean Valjean- John Owen-Jones
Javert- Hans Peter Janssens
Marius- Jon Lee
Enjolras-Simon Bailey- currently in WWRY[/b])
Thenardier- Chris Vincent (was in the European tour of Les Mis)
Mme T- Tracie Bennet

Eponine, Cosette, Fantine-all new to the show and yet to be announced- Eponine and Cosette are making their west end debut in these roles!!!!

1st cover Marius- Robert Archibald- staying on as Fuelly
1st cover Fantine-
Bayla Whitten- making her west end debut,
Fantine

They are two lucky little twits aren't they. They should BURN for the honour. They must be something very special though- being the 21st year....

The EUROPEAN tour of Les mis. He played Javert.

I got that. When was this tour and where did it play? Who else was in it?

I've never heard of it - and I do my very best to keep myself updated on European productions.
smokeyspotlight

Oh! Okay, well the simple answer to that is- I just don't know. I retrieved all my data from www.londonmusicalsonline.com
They update everyday and have done really well in tracking down the new cast list.
I can do one better- a little anyway- the new eponine and cosettes first names- as my friend leaked them to me today and wouldn't tell me anymore. The girl playing Eponine is Sabrina something, and the girl playing Cosette is Gina something- although what you'll do with that info I don't know, but it's a start right?!!!

Actually, MaE and I have never heard of this European tour either, so we probably shouldn't have written it. But it said that he had been Javert on European Les Mis tour in his profile on his agent website, so we just assumed it must have been true. Shocked
Would like to know more about this tour.. Wonder where and when it was.
smokeyspotlight

Well all the info I could trace was that it was the European tour (i know- you got that already!) for Jacaranda. And it was directed by Bill Castellino. Go figure- cos I have not got a clue about that one!
smokeyspotlight

So, does anyone have anymore info on any of the new female cast of are we to assume that it will be an all male cast for the 21st anniversary?!!
The Very Angry Woman

Michael McCarthy is a particularly saucy factory girl, I hear.
Timmy_Wishes he was Quast

Thats interesting...i heard he was playing Fantine?! Or was he just understudy to Micheal Ball, who got it after Cameron Mackintosh heard his version of IDAD on one of his many CDS?
smokeyspotlight

This post has given us the cast change to date- who's joining- a few new faces, covers, ensemble and male leads.

Sophia Ragavelas is back in Les mis........... as Fantine!!!! More infor above!! Very Happy
Fantine

Wow, really? I emailed Iain (from her website) to ask him for some information.
Moci

That'd be fantastic- I loved Sophia as Eponine.
Fantine

The webmaster hadn't heard about it until I had emailed him, but he promised that he would try and get some info.

Well, are we to finally find out the well hidden identities of the rest of the cast too, or is that to remain top secret?!

The new cast- female list- inc Cosette and Eponine and Fantine!!!!!
Fantine

It doesn't seem like the actress for Cosette has done a lot of musical work. Only 5 years of musical training... Hmm...
MrMarius

I am new here, so hellooo one and all!!! Hope this post finds you all in good health! I have been on a website called www.londonmusicalsonline.com

They have posted up the final complete cast list for les mis 2006-2007.
javertsw

I think the female leads haven't *officially* been confirmed yet... but I'm sure they are pretty solid.

I guess the two making their debut's haven't had that much experience... but everyones gotta start somewhere. And people could have been doing amatuer theatre for years but it's just not written down.
MrMarius

The poor dears, but you are right, I am sure they are going to be something quite special, as it is the 21st.
They are both attractive young ladies, and the girl playing Eponine was young cosette as well which is quite clever!!!
eponine5

really? how do you know that? I tried searching for her on google and I couldn't find anything.

MrMarius

Me too! Bet you can't wait to see Sophia playing Fantine either! Wink
It will be sad to see the old guys go, but exciting to see the next generation come in!
EponineT

I have an old programme from 1989 when I first went to see it at the Palace, and Sabrina Aloueche is in there! Could not believe it, I am going to see the show on the 26th and ask her to sign the programme for me! Very Happy

Lol, I saw that cast 3 times and many of the principles impressed me less and less the more I saw them. Which is why I'm looking forward to seeing the new cast next week!

Out of the casts I've seen I still think the 2005-2006 cast was the best, with JOJ, Hayden Tee and Kerry Ellis.

i only saw it once so it was great. i realy liked the fantine, marius and valjean, but i prefered the javert from the DVD.
