music is my life!!!

Now I'm just uber confused :/

The other day, 2 people said I'd make a good Madam in our upcoming production of the school version of Les Mis. The problem is, although i think it'd be a fun part, i'm having trouble with the voice....
Also, my dream role is Fantine now. It fits in my voice perfectly, but no-one in my company has heard me *really* sing, or do a dramatic role.

Any tips on what to wear to the rehearsals tonight/in the future to help me fit Fantine?

Look, i know i've been kinda obsessed with this audition (which is on the 17th of May Shocked ) recently, but it means soo much to me and i'd love to get either of these parts! Smile

I'm 16, about 5ft 5inches, and curvier than most of the girls in the group, but not fat! Mr. Green Any fashion tips?

THanks for any advice! Smile

I totally understand being pulled in a dozen directions for what roles to want! It can be super annoying.
I'd say if you're trying to be more Fantine-ish, try wearing really soft things... peasant blouses, hippie-inspired dresses. Things that are really feminine and vulnerable. And long curly hair might help... Smile
Ideally, you'd be able to get the part by being the best vocalist/actress for the part. But I know that that is not always the case. Hope that helped some! Very Happy

^ thank you sooo much! I asked the director last night if i was old enough and he said "you're definately old enough" Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
so maybe i should just leave Eponine.... I got the audition pieces just in case Smile
I wore mostly greens to the rehearsal (darker vest top, and some plaer trakkies Smile )
I've made a fantine costume for the audition, cuz they always say "It'll help you get a part, because we can picture you in the part!", and i'm gonna get the locket today Very Happy

Aw, you'll have to let me know when you find out the parts Very Happy

I will! Smile Do you think it'd be worth my time going for Eponine? I'm not sure, even though i used to love Eppy, if my time would be better spent on Fantine/Madam...

Totally O/T, but I've been wondering this for ages: who is Madame?? I know mostly people are just referring to Mme Thenardier but Madame is a credited part, it's in the London brochure.. who is she??
(Sorry if I sound like a n00b, but I swear I have no idea, and I have Googled, but it just comes up with Madame Thenardier)

^ Madam Thenardier. The thing is, I really want a decent part, but there'll be at least 30 girls going for Eponine, and even though it used to be my dream role, i find Fantine alot more gritty and emotionally deep.
The other day at least 3 people said i'd be a good madam thenardier, and it'd be soooo much fun, but fantine fits in my voice really well....

Confused Confused

If it's in the program it might refer to, like, an actual "madame"... you know... of the sexy type.

Isn't she the head whore? Second only to the pimp?

Yes.

Thanks. =]

Do you have to give only one part that you're going for? Because many songs could be used for Fantine or Eponine.
Heck, several of the actresses that played Eponine have gone on to play Fantine later on.
music is my life!!!

well, you can go for as many parts as you want Smile Everyone says i'd be a great Madam Thenardier, but no-one's really heard me sing properly, as in.... well, and singing in a lovely way.... we have to sing I dreamed a dream for fantine, and on my own for eponine Smile

Then I'd say go for both! If there's one thing I've learned, it's to put yourself out there as much as possible in theater. Very Happy

thanks! Smile I sang both songs in my singing lesson yesterday, and know exactly how to deliver both songs with the conviction they need Very Happy

BUT y'know for madam thenardier, how do you think i should do the character voice? I mean, i can make it nasal, and make my diction dodgey, but are there any good examples on youtube of good madam thenardier singing? Also, how much movement would i need to do for mdm.t? I can move a fair bit, but not quite to the levels of a chorus line! lol
