Im listening to Louise Pitre's "Come to Me" and it was so beautiful! She has a lovely voice Smile She played the role in the Canadian Cast of Les Miserables... does anybody have clips of her singing "I Dreamed A Dream" in English?
Cloudy This Morning

I have Pia Douwes singing 'I Dreamed a Dream'... I hope that's what you meant, because that's what I sent.

This is NOT from a Chinese LM production (because there is none), it's recorded for a compilation album. Some phrases aren't translated because it wouldn't fit with the melody.

Cool

It tells me that no free slots are available!! Argh I NEED this song! Crying or Very sad Could someone please upload it to yousendit.com...??? PLEASE?

None here, but if anyone has English clips of the Montreal cast (or any clips of the castmembers who weren't on the PRC) I'd be very interested in them.

I also really want to know who the original Montreal Enjolras was, because he's prettyyyy and Enjolraic and such.

Thanks loads!!!!! Very Happy

Nice voice- but zero emotion and zero depth. OMO is a haunting song not a nice sounding one. She did nothing for me!!!! What is wrong with these girls- its a part, not a showcase- we don't need to hear how good their voices are!!!!!!

I find her version very emotional, just because she doesn't over-emote doesn't mean it's not there, she just seems calm and convicted in her interpretation.

Nope. Twisted Evil That came off a highlights recording, which didn't include A Little Fall of Rain. It's on the Vienna recording, but I think the lyrics were so unsalvageably horrible that they just didn't bother to put it on the Duisburg highlights. I'd put up the Vienna ALFOR, but there's always the chance another German-speaker could stumble upon it and I don't believe in cruel and unusual punishment.

I am not talking about over emotion. I know enough about singing to forge an opinion of it thank you very much. And my opinion is that she was too pronounced/ articulate and sang a very pretty song. Except its not pretty. And the song itself, I believe, isn't the kind of song that you can sing in a calm and collected way. She is opening her heart, the one time she is honest and true about her feelings. Its a desperate and haunting song. But as I said, that is my opinion and I am sure that you have yours- I never saw her performance it could well be that she acted very on edge and desperate to contradict the sound.

A while ago i saw Shonagh Daly as Eponine and I thought that both her acting and singing was amazing. I went to see it again more recently, but unfortunately there was an understudy, who was very good by the way, but I was still disappointed that she wasn't there. Could anyone possibly send a sound clip of Shonagh Daly from Les Mis?

Do you have to be so full of yourself?

It's also a song that can IMO be interpreted in so many different ways, angry, sad, reflective, self pitying, psychotically.

Laura Michelle Kelly is an Olivier Award winning actress. I'm sure she did, although I honestly don't see what the problem is with singing it 'prettily' as long as the emotion is present too. My opinion.
smokeyspotlight

I don't think anyone on this site got anything out of you disecting and ridiculing my post. I am sick to death of having to worry about people like you trying to belittle me just for joining in.
I think you are pathetic moci. My opinion.

I certainly get more out of reading an argument about an actress's interpretation than out of listening to people whine about how the forum is so meeeeeeeean whenever someone disagrees with them.
smokeyspotlight

Well, I certainly never whined about people being so meeeean to me, just sick and tired of the constant off-the-topic bickering that seems to occur every time i express my opinion in a topic. Well, I ovbviously am rubbing people up the wrong way- and i don't quite understand how!!! I feel I have contributed a lot of useful threads and posts. Oh well, ya can't win them all eh?!!!! Does anyone have Spanish clips? I only need Come To Me, I Dreamed a Dream, and A Little Fall of Rain. I'm willing to trade, but keep in mind I don't have all that much.

Ohh, and there was a Sola Yo clip posted a while back. Anyone know the name of the girl who sang it? I tried Google but couldn't find anything. She has a pretty voice.
Orestes Fasting

Margarita Marbn was the Madrid Eponine. The recording was highlights only and omitted both Come to Me and A Little Fall of Rain, but here's I Dreamed a Dream with Gema Castao as Fantine: http://www.sendspace.com/file/4vbidn
Cloudy This Morning

Orestes, you rock.

Here I go! Trading stuff! Ahhh, I feel so...involved!! Like I'm a little less of a leech! *girlish squeal*
-----------------------------------------

Alright!! First item of business, Roger Allam's Stars, which I'm sure everyone and their grandmother has. But just in case!!

http://www.sendspace.com/file/oiveac
--------------------------------------------------------

This is a piano solo... I can't remember the artist (I believe it was something along the lines of Emilie Pandolfi?) which encompasses A Little Fall of Rain and I Dreamed a Dream. It's very pretty.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/rejox2
-----------------------------------------------------------

Heres Elaine Paiges pop-ish I Dreamed a Dream. It has spiffy drum beats during the shame part. Its neat.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/s4o89m
----------------------------------------------------------

I thought I'd put Un Dia Mas up here, because the Javert is fantastic. The Eponine kind of sounds like she might be dying, however, and you can scarcely hear Cosette. (This doesn't appear to be from Spain or South America, because the 'ce', 'ci', and 'z's aren't pronounced with a 'th'.)

http://www.sendspace.com/file/24hqt0
----------------------------------------------

And last, but most importantly!! This is a very odd clip. It's called Ballade Pour Cosette. It's in French, obviously, but it's actually from 1981, before the musical existed. It's from a Japanese cartoon about Les Miserables. A woman (dead Fantine? Narrator?) sings to Cosette (who can be heard going "La La La" in the background) about various things. It's very, very cute. (Be warned : at the end, the cute 'La's stop and there is an unholy, evil child laugh) Also, the quality might be a little sucky because its so bloody old.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/mfbzn6
Cloudy This Morning

It has occurred to me that all this time I have been asking for clips of A Little Fall of Rain, Come To Me, and On My Own because I like to sing to them. And then I thought... 'Wait a bloody minute!! I don't even like Eponine or Fantine! My favorite characters are Cosette and Javert.'

Especially Javert. So any Stars or Javert's Suicide clips would be great. That German Javert (Hartwig Rudolz?) was amazing.

Also, I meant to ask-- I Saw Him Once was only in the London version. Was it originally in French, and if so, is it still kept in other countries? It was such a pretty song, and poor Cosette never got to do much.
The Very Angry Woman

Cloudy This Morning wrote:

It was never "kept" because it was cut once the show opened outside London. It's never been performed in other productions.
Cloudy This Morning

That's a pity.

Anyone interested in a little treat? I found it on my travels (on youtube!!!), its the 1988 cast of les mis performing One Day More! Well, I really enjoyed it- its what les mis should sound like, the energy is incredible!

This is a weird and obscure request, but does anyone have clips of Robert Jcha from the Czech production, besides the caf scene and DYHTPS? His "they will come when we call" really impressed me, but unfortunately they rotated casts on that recording and he's only on those two tracks. (Why the hell did they give Tomas Trapl all of Act II anyway? He was on the 1992 highlights!)

Actually, any non-English live clips would be really neat, particularly French or German ones.

It's always good to have another Javert fan. But are you a book Javert fan or musical? Because I've always been appalled at how they took book Javert--a constantly joking, near-atheist Gypsy-- and turned him into a white (and sometimes black) Christian fundamentalist. Poor darling.

Pretty good clip, I guess. I thought I spotted Lea Salonga dressed up as Kim(correct me if I am wrong on this). Frances is not my favorite, but I think she was better in this clip than the clip I have seen her at the Tony's. She doesn't cling to Micheal's Marius like she did with David's, which is good. Could someone tell more about this "royal variety" event?

Also, Simon Bowman appears to be Enjolras, which amuses me.

Because he's Simon Bowman and in general he amuses me.

Who's Enjorlras?
Timmy_Wishes he was Quast

It's the brother to Enjolras...their parents had very little time on their hands and couldn't afford more of those name badge thingys to sew into their red tunics...so his mother just penciled in another "r" simply done. But they loved them both the same. Very Happy Sadly his brother died long before Victor Hugo imortalised Enjolras in the novel. Sadly we will never know what Enjorlras truely looked like though some speculate that he looked not too dissimailr to Simon Bowman, so this mistake is genuine TVAW. And any true Les Mis obsessor would forgive this honest mistake safe in the knowledge that it was a genuine case of mistaken identity.

It's an event done in Britain in aid of the 'Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund' or something like that. It's been performed more or less annually (barring world conflict, royal family/national mourning) since 1912, with members of the Royal Family in attendance and variety acts on the stage. Nowadays it's broadcast on TV too and features a mix of comedy acts, pop stars, someone from the world of classical music, dancers and a performance or two from a west end show (last year was the chorus of 'Guys and Dolls', the year before 'Billy Elliot' and Nathan Lane and 'The Producers'). It ranges from rubbish to good.

Incidentally, the original 1912 RVP was done in the 'Palace Theatre' in London, old home to 'Les Mis'

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BXJPLQ/qid=1150414987/sr=1-13/ref=sr_1_13/102-9026474-9222518?s=music&v=glance&n=5174

The reviews weren't very good, but I was curious to hear what it sounded like.

Glad to comply

What would you like? [I'll see what I can upload]
Lazarus (Adam G)

Who Am I?
Confrontation
Master Of The House
Bring Him Home
and Javerts Suicide

Is that too much? Embarassed

I never see Karaoke's of these songs (except "Bring Him Home").
Etoile

Is that karaoke cd any good? I was interested because it had all the songs but that's quite a price tag...

I bought the backing tracks inclusive of most songs from eBay (the place to buy it). More or less they're OK, especially if they're simply for recreational amusment. You cannot, however, use them in a concert, or if you are performing a piece. Well, perhaps the really good quality ones - but they don't have many songs...

I'm still hunting around for CD1, but... I can offer you :-

Javert's Suicide
Bring Him Home
One Day More

I'm still looking for the rest...

Thanks! Very Happy

They're better than I expected! Quite good for Karaoke.

Where did you manage to find these?
icedblue11

They're part of the Les Mis Hits You Can Sing Too! CD that I bought.

One Day More with Vocals, interesting to see what a nine man company can produce...

When you get around to finding disk 1, could you also post "What Have I Done" "At The End of The Day" and "Stars"?

Also, could you please post "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables"?

Sorry if that's a little too much Embarassed
