I don't think there's any canon evidence for Eponine being sexually abused by Patron-Minette; it's far more likely that she whored herself out to the rich people she was trying to get money from, probably on her father's suggestion. She practically offered herself to Marius in the scene where they first met, he was just too clueless to figure out what she was doing.

I'm not saying that being strongarmed into prostitution doesn't constitute sexual abuse, just that I always roll my eyes when I see a fic that gives Eponine extra angst by having her get passed around between Patron-Minette/beaten and raped by Montparnasse/whatever.

Book - the pages and pages on the history of the Paris sewers!

Musical - nothing!

Musical:
Turning, definitely. And Valjean's Confession. I can't help it. Every time he goes: "There lived a man whose name was Jean Valjean" my mind goes: "Oh dear Lord, always the same old story."
Once, just once, I'd love for the Valjeanactor to go: "There lived a girl whose name was Snow White. Her hair was black, lips red and skin was ... white. That's how she got her name, and she was pretty, too! But her stepmother didn't like to see it, soooooo - after maaaaaany years, she sent the hunter out to shoot the child" etc etc.

I agree with someone who said this already; the most boring part of the book was the bishop's intro.

About the music, I can't really think of anything that bores me because I love it all.

I have to wonder if people who say the most boring part of the book was the part about the bishop have read abridged copies that did not include Waterloo, the Sewers, or the Convent Razz

The main sections of the book people find boring seem to be:
the bishop, waterloo, the convent, argot and the sewers.
These are certainly the least plot-relevant sections. I don't mind the bishop section - although he is not a main character, I enjoy finding out about him, and the book could perhaps even be viewed as about the bishop, in the sense that so much stems from one good action he performed. I also quite enjoy the sections about the sewers and waterloo - they are extremely well written, and give a good insight into Hugo's own ideas. However, when reading the book from cover-to-cover, they sometimes seem to jar the pace of the plot, so I sometimes skim them and come back to them individually later. The bits about the convent and argot, I tend to skip.

I always find, however, that it is some of the smaller digressions at the beginning of the third volume that bore me most. The stuff about the parisian gamin, and the salons M Gillenormand attended. I think they fit in more awkwardly than Hugo's larger digressions.

In terms of the musical, I tend to find the solos slightly boring, but only because I have seen it so many times and really enjoy watching the ensemble instead of the main characters. However, if I were to see it for the first time again, I think I'd really enjoy all of it. Those who say that DWM and Turning are boring - I see where you are coming from, they don't add a lot to the plot and might seem a bit pointless (although I would in fact disagree with that), but I think the pacing would seem rushed without them. The section at the barricades already suffers from a lot of cuts, which affect the pacing.

Oh, I totally understand that, you couldn't have "Javert's Suicide" and "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" back-to-back! But part of me thinks a song for Cosette would fit in there... with the nurses? About the unconscious Marius, some kind of "Castle on a Cloud"-like reprise, mainly because "Turning" kind-of works against everything the revolution stood for (and it would add more to Cosette's character!)...

That said, I don't get how people can say "Drink With Me" is boring. Shocked

It's one of my favourite songs, but I can see why others might find it boring - especially if they've never read the book or aren't barricade boy fangirls!
