Trevor reincarnate

One Day More.

Until it closes. Sad
The Very Angry Woman

For the second time. But not the last.
Quique

Watch there be another 'revival' in 3 years time, with new, new orchestrations and band consisting of a midi machine and a drummer. Smile
mastachen

I'd see that.
happyguava

Henry - don't even joke!
mastachen

Who's Henry? o.o
Quique

^ Me. Smile

"Henry" is the English form of "Enrique." Derived from "Henricus."

Shelley is the only one--besides my family--who calls me that. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Very Happy

As for the orchestra...I sort of regret seeing the 'revival.' It has tainted my wonderful memories of seeing 'the actual thing' 25 times before that. The show loses a LOT of its power with the new orchestrations, imo.
Fantine

It's closing already? Wow. But JOJ and Judy have been in the cast now for, 2 months or so? That's fast.
Orestes Fasting

I don't cry easily at shows, but if I did, I would've been bawling my eyes out at One Day More last night.

...five hours left.
Quique

Awww...I'm kinda rejoicing the end of this faux "miserables," but I can see where your sadness is coming from.

The visual production will probably be the last ever of its kind. This holds lots of nostalgia for me. Crying or Very sad

Just not having the show on Broadway is a loss. I remember the old days when it was at the Imperial, it was majestic. The Broadhurst production is a sad whimper for this beautiful show.

All in all, it is sad that it is leaving Broadway once again, but it has tainted my version of the great musical that I have known for literally decades. Bye..bye.
Monsieur D'Arque

In celebration, I sing.

Pardon my nostalgia-filled posts.

I miss the days of "The Barricade." I still have many of the issues. I should scan and post some. Good stuff.
Fantine

Shall we set-up a poll on when it is revived for the third time?

Bidding starting at 1$.
EponineMNFF

I usually don't cry during the finale, but I was kind of sobbing at the end of the matinee yesterday. Even though the revival isn't as awe inspiring as the original, I'm going to miss it so much. Sad

So... did you notice what Grantaire did yesterday in teasing Marius? I'm really interested to know why the whole cafe scene changed blocking overnight.

...I would have asked at the stagedoor, but I was too busy GOING INSIDE IT. *hugs*
EponineMNFF

YESOMGSQUEE! *Hugs*

Haha the entire fandom is going to be so annoyed with our squeeing in every thread soon. Oh well.

Haha.

Yeah I did notice that the teasing changed. I miss when Grantaire used to knock the bottle off the table though--that was my favorite. And was it just me or was Enjolras wearing a new tie? Maybe he was wearing it differently...

But yeah. It was odd with the whole changing of the blocking thing. And Enjolras and Grantaire seemed to work out the whole Drink With Me fiasco yesterday, when two days before they kind of remained angry at each other until they died. (The latter was way sadder too.)

I have a random question that isn't really related to this thread, but I thought I should ask it anyway. In the current Bway production, why does one Gavroche play the part on Wednesday evenings and Saturday matinees and the other plays it for all of the other performances? That just seems a bit unfair. Is it a scheduling thing or do they just prefer one to the other?
DontDoSadnessxx

hopefully for the next revival they wont cast such a horrible fantine.

lea salonga kicked major ass though <3
and im sure judy kuhn did too. didnt get to see her =[

Ooh, I never saw that one... I wonder why they changed it up...

Yeah! We noticed that too! Their little argument during DWM ended with shoulder and knee patting, which was... shippy. I dunno. I also noticed that, instead of going to get shot for Enjolras, Grantaire seemed really fixated on Gavroche. Did you see him tuck Gavroche in? He kissed his hand and patted Gavroche's head. It was VERY squee... I suppose.

It's because one is new to the show, right? The other just got sent over to Little Mermaid? That's my guess, anyways.

Not really. She seemed kind of bored at first and barely moved at all during IDAD... but she was convincing in her death, I thought. Coughed a LOT.

Yes, you should. That, sadly, was before my time.

Are you talking about the cupping of his man-boobs?

Jacob Levine is now with... Mary Poppins. I saw both Brian and Zach the two times I saw the revival, but I've never seen Jacob.

And people wonder why I think Les Mis is such an awesomely gay fandom. TONS OF SWEATY YOUNG MEN DRINKING BEHIND A MAKESHIFT BARRICADE! COME ON!

No, that was actually what he did the first time I saw it! The very next day, he was bouncing up and down on Marius's lap instead until Marius pushed him off. He then did the classic rolled-up-newpaper-that-someone-snatches-away-and-is-then-replaced-with-a-wine-bottle thing.

And then! Then, Marius sang his little Red and Black refrain, and Enjolras was sitting at Grantaire's normal table, leaning back in the chair, and when Marius finished singing, he started up a slow clap. I don't know why, but it struck me as absolutely hilarious, and I ended up giggling under my breath until General Lamarque died...

If I can find mine, I'll scan them, too. I think they're in my parents' garage. I'm sure between the both of us, Quique and I have every issue.
Fantine

It's too awesome that there once was an entire magazine dedicated to Les Mis.

Oh, the boys have been screwing with the Red and Black blocking for weeks now. Normally Don gropes Adam's invisible boobies, then prances around with a rolled-up newspaper pretending to be Don Juan until he trips and knocks over Anderson Davis' drink over on stage right. But lately he and James Chip Leonard have been resurrecting the 3nt blocking--Don gets his newspaper snatched away, replaces it with a bottle, staggers over to stage left, and he and Chip toss the tablecloth/flag around mockingly while Adam does his "I feel my heart on fire" thing. And the invisible-boob groping has been interchangeable with smacking kisses on the cheek or what my friends fondly refer to as Adam's lapdance.

And Max von Essen does the blocking differently every time. (Did. I need to start using past tense. Sh*t.) Sometimes he stayed behind the table plotting with Combeferre the whole time, sometimes "Don't let the wine go to your brains" was accompanied by him stalking over and grabbing R's bottle away, sometimes he chased him around during Don Juan, sometimes he would start "Marius, you're no longer a child" sitting in R's vacated seat, sometimes he would sit Adam down like he was about to give him the birds and the bees talk...

Max has also said at the stage door that the whispers in Drink With Me are actual in-character conversation, and that they're different every night depending on whether Grantaire's being pleading and pathetic or just a pain in the ass.

As for the Gavroches, last month it was Zach Rand and Brian D'Addario, but Brian left for Little Mermaid. I think the weird scheduling was because it was too close to closing for a full-on replacement for Brian, but Zach wasn't allowed to do eight shows a week so they brought in Sean Gilbert for matinees.

Lemme see if I can remember the combination of what Don and Max did.

THere was the invisible boob groping, the rolled up newspaper, and he does knock over the drink. I think the flag tossing happened too.

Max sang "Marius, you're no longer a child" seated, and then got up and walked around during the final Red and Black chorus.

Can't really remember much. I kept focusing on how the red vest looked on Max. It seriously held my attention for practically the entire scene.

And Grantaire was... pathetic that night. However, during DWM, there was seriously hardly any whispering or acknowledgment of each other from Max to Don. I paid a lot of attention to what Grantaire was doing, but he didn't seem to be doing anything particularly memorable that night.

And I guess I caught Brian D'Addario on his last week? Because I saw him like.. 3 weeks ago. His bag didn't make it over the barricades when he died, and there was a very audible "Awww" when that happened.

You wouldn't have been the only one. Alot of people in the audience were. The only one onstage that I saw cry alot was Megan McGinnis. She couldn't even blow the candle out at the end because she was crying that much. Once I seen her cry then I started too.
Orestes Fasting

Oh, for the last show? I was sobbing my eyes out. I really don't cry at shows--I don't remember ever getting more than a little watery-eyed at Les Mis before--but I was a total mess from IDAD to Castle on a Cloud and from Empty Chairs to the end.
lesmisloony

Aw, Orestes, you had every right to be upset. I was upset and I only saw this revival three times!

We asked Max about the vest at the stagedoor, and he said it was from London. They sent it over and tailored it to him or something. He didn't really seem to care for it too much either.
*I* thought it made him look like a belated Christmas present.

I really didn't cry that much which is weird cuz the 1st 3 times I saw it I did. That might have been Lea Salonga that made me cry though. Did you stage door after the show? That was crazy. So many people. After 3 tries I finally got Megan McGinnis to talk to me. LoL. It seems like she's over her shyness.
Orestes Fasting

The other barricade boys teased Max mercilessly about the vest when it first arrived. Especially since, the first few times, he also had to wear a dark red cravat that looked like it was made of the same material you'd use for a Christmas bow, which clashed horribly with the vest.

And oh man, how could I not have stagedoored? After all the times I've seen the show it would've been weird to go to the last performance and not say goodbye.

When Lea was in the show, I saw bigger crowds at the stage door on a regular basis than the one at closing night. Kind of sad.

I saw Lea the night that she came back from vacation and there was only 2 of us at the stage door. I actually could have a convo with her for once. And make a fool out of myself because I was so starstruck. Haha
