Smile I looked at both clips, it's making me even more excited to see it! I've luckily got tickets for the 24th which is the first showing! I can't wait. Thanks for the clips!

My opinons of the members, in the brief clips I've seen.

Valjean: Could barely hear him and see him act, but he appears to have the collision with Javert down. His voice is good for Valejan, but not the best I've seen.

Javert: One of my favorite voices I heard from this particular rehersal. He defintely has the deep, but menacing side of Javert down, and also appears to have a good grip on that collision scene.

Marius: Could hear him very minimally. For some reason, I can't get an impression on this guy.

Cosette: Also could barely hear her, and can't get an impression.

Eponine: I could only hear a few notes out of her. Good, but not a Lea or a Frances type. Her voice at times reminds me of the Eponine in our high school's production last spring.

Thenardiers: Could barely hear them, and when they sung, I could really only hear the Mme., but I think I'm going to like her in the role...she has the wickedness that the character's supposed to have.

Fantine: Surprisingly, I just didn't find it that good. Her voice doesn't seem as smooth as the character's is supposed to be. Also, as my friend noted, too much physical acting for someone that's near death.

Would have liked to hear the voices more so I can get an impression, but I really liked both clips.

Aaron Lazar is spectacular as Enjorlas, got a little bit of Warlow and Maguire in him. I like Valjean, better than Morris worse than Colm, probably equal to Randal Keith. Norm is offically my favorite Javert. Daphne I hate as I expected. Can't wait to see some Thenardier stuff!

mmm more please Very Happy Thanks for the clips.

I really am excieted about the cast. Adam Jacobs is a good Marius, for whoever asked. I saw him last year. And of course, Gary Beach and Jenny Galloway should be awesome. Norm Lewis seems amazing as Javert. Actually, the whole cast seems really good!

I still am not sure about Daphne though. Her come to me was good, I can't say I didn't feel anything there. But still...singing wise, her voice is iffy. And sometimes it is slightly distracting. I don't know though. I think I might have to hear (see) more of her before I can make a better judgement.

"Surprisingly"? Let me guess -- you hadn't heard of Daphne Rubin-Vega before the revival cast was announced.

No, Suprisingly was meant as sarcastically as possible. I've always hated her voice and I continue to marvel and what people see in her.

Hey, you never know, maybe it's just her interpretation of a death rattle and her IDAD will be gorgeous.

...stranger things have happened...?
Jekkienumber24601

Well the lyrics make sense now actually.

Look Mesuir! Where all the Children Play!

Be at peace (Just shut up) Be at peace evermore (just stop singing please)

My Cosette

Shall Live in My protection (Oh god just shut up!)

Take her now!

Your child will want for nothing (If you stop singing!)
broadwaybelle22

I saw Adam Jacobs around Christmas time last in Boston, as Marius, and I thought he was amazing. Plus he's freaking adorable!

Like casting Joan Almedilla? I can't believe I'm yearning to see her again at this point.

After seeing the clip, and reading that - I laughed so hard! Laughing

I had seen that video a few days ago and I was absolutely appalled with Daphne as Fantine. I know it was only rehearsal but her voice sounded absolutely dreadful and not at all as one would expect of Fantine vocally. Then again, I wasn't surprised. I also found her acting a bit much, but perhaps that is just me.

I am quite excited to see Celia as Eponine. Its quite different from hearing her as Olive Ostrovsky in Spelling Bee.

The rest of the cast is quite good, in my opinion, and I hope I am able to see the revival....I'll just have to make sure to tune Daphne out. Thank god she dies in the beginning of the first act and we don't have to hear from her for nearly another 3 hours.
LesWickedPhantom

Lazar sounds fantastic. I'm so thrilled to be able to see him again, after seeing him in Piazza... I love him.
Trevor

Yes. Lazar is quite good. I'm mixed on the dude playing Marius (I'm drawing a blank on his name and I don't feel like finding it.). He's good... but not the best.

I like Gemiangi or whatever as Valjean. and Norm Lewis is very good. I'm glad we got a clip of Gary Beach as Thenardier. I definately love him. Daphne Rubin Vega should not be on Broadway let alone in Les Mis.
beck

hmmmmmmmmmmmm
well, here's my opinion:

Valjean, I like him. I dont feel I have a reason to like him. He seems passionate and loving towards Fantine.
Fantine..i realllllyyy didnt like what i saw there. But I've never liked Daphne..I just really dont like her tone of voice..she doesnt seep strong at all..i mean, yeah Fantine's dying, but she doesnt have to be scratchy and not supported..and the way she died after "wake" ..too...hmm, quick? she didnt let her body fade realistically, it looked fake.
Javert, LOVE. i love his voice. gorgeous, strong, LOVE YOU. hehe
Same with Enjolras, loved him. ..he was effing hot as hell too!
And that cute little boy for Gavroche..ofcourse no can hear him, but he was cute haha.
Marius was a cutie too. I liked his voice, and he sure does look like a Marius. Teddy bear.
Cosette had a beautiful soprano voice, i thought it was very nice. refreshing from the cosette i had in the show i did. she has a great voice, but kinda scary when she hits those high notes.
Eponine..i dont know why, but i dont really like her. she didnt seem strong enough to be eponine. and she wasnt too load. but who knows, she might be different on stage with a mic and makeup and everything.
Thenardiers, I could see them up on stage in costume, I think they'd be great. Except I didnt really like how they pulled off "MUCH" at their last line there. I would have liked it better if they held that note a bit steadier.

I think that's all good and well but at times her voice is so akward, it takes away from the actual scene, especially during the death. Her acting doesn't seem to hellp. Again this is only a rehearsal clip, so lets pray that its gotten better since.

I still bugs me that people say "Well so and so is rubvbish" or "Welll i hate so and so" or "Why?how did she get cast!?" Come on guys. There's a place in theatre for interpritation. AND soooo what she's still developing her characterisation. Give the PROFESSIONAL a break! She's evidently been cast for a reason and the directors and producers (also with years of experince) have picked her from a list of other options. They obviously think she has something. But please go ahead slate her. I'll fight for her.

Her harsh brutality at points reminds me of Miss Ruffelle of OLC and OBC fame! She was stupendouse!

Being a professional doesn't make her exempt from criticism. In fact, it invites more of it. I don't like what I've seen of her Fantine so far; if I see the show in November and it turns out she doesn't play Fantine as a long-time chain-smoker with the emotional range of a teaspoon, I will be perfectly happy to revise my opinion. Come to Me isn't really the chance for a Fantine to show off her voice, etc. But as it stands, I don't like what I've seen.

Directors, producers, and actors can all make perfectly boneheaded decisions. The fact that they're in the business doesn't give them Godlike Powers of Judgement(TM).

Oh...my...God.

I'm NOT a freak! I liked her Fantine, from what I could see, and I like Daphne, so I'll stand by the casting no matter what anyone says. Hurray for Daphne!Fantine!
MsDivaKate

Just because someone is a professional and cast in a role doesn't make them God. There's been plenty of stunt casting in Broadway and the West End before. There's been plenty of off casting choices before. Do I give Daphne credit for still being in rehearsals? Of course. Am I expecting anything amazing of her, not really.

There is a difference between unique interpretation and just poor choices when singing/acting a role.
