Screen versions of LM?

I've been browsing the Internet Movie Database, and there are so many screen versions of LM that I have no idea which ones to get. I'd like to get ones that are as close to the book as possible, but also I'm a big Eponine fan. I've seen some that actually include her, but I'd like to know which ones best represent her character and how much screen time she gets...

If anyone here can advise me on this issue that would be great. Smile

Learn quickly, Young Hoofer. Browsing through the topics before creating a new one is preferred.

I did actually do a search...must've somehow managed to miss that one. Oops! Thanks, Fantine. Smile

If you're an Eponine fan though, the mini-series talked about in that thread might not be the one for you, if the six hour French cut doesn't appeal to you, the three hour English doesn't have Eponine dying, if I remember correctly. Try checking this website to see how much each version contains.

Thanks, Moci! Smile

Since there's another thread on this subject if a mod could delete this one for me that would be great.

Moci, don't you mean that the mini-series "might be" the "one" Superstar83 wants to get? Just trying to be helpful.

Nope, I think I was right, the three hour version doesn't have Eponine dying, which as an Eponine fan, s/he'll presumably want, so if the six hour French, without English subtitles can't be understood, there probably isn't enough Eponine to fill the criteria given.

I'm confused now. Very Happy

Eponine does actually have a nice part in the six hour version and I loved her death scene. The words she uses are very much like the novel.

Yeah that was pretty close to the musical, you could see that the costumes were influenced by it. There was a french version in the early 80s which was kinda epic and somehow related to the musical as well.

I personally LOVED the more resent version with Liam Neeson, Geoffrey Ruch, Uma Thurman, and Claire Danes. Because it is a more resent film they can't take alot of time with the more lengthy parts (Such as Valjeans history) but it is still a GREAT and touching movie. Also I really liked all the characters. My friend over here is a moron who hates both the books and the movies. Now I dont call him an idiot because he doesnt like the books/movies it is because of the reason he dislikes them. His excuse is that in the movie (Liam Neeson version) he complained about how the "Chick wasn't hot enough" lol it was terrible. I ranted at him for... wait I havent stopped lol.
