Susan Boyle to star in new LES MIZ movie!!

A friend of mine close to Akiva Goldman (who is doing the LES MIZ screenplay) just told me that they will go ahead with the LES MIZ movie now that they have found the perfect Fantine -- the new worldwide sensation, Susan Boyle!!

According to composers Schoenberg and Boublil, "...We have found our film Fantine!!! This was like finding Lea Salonga for Kim in 1986!!"

Asked about the 'maturity' of Boyle playing Fantine, the Goldman and the composers said: "We will just cast everybody older...so Susan would fit in with all the other older characters. This is why we have waited so long before proceeding with the film!!"

Why do you keep spreading lies about her?

Ha. You have very possibly made my night, man. I haven't laughed in a couple days.

Lighten up dude!! Shocked You call them 'lies;' I call it creative thinking. It's not like I'm spreading pejorative or salacious stories about the lady. You've got to see the difference. These are just fanciful yearnings and harmless projections. They are in no way injurious to Miss Boyle. Only to people without a sense of humor.

Then please change your posts. It looks as if you're (implying to) writing facts. They're not facts, they're just imagination. Make that clear, please.

Aww. but he's so fun to watch . . .

Hehe, GungaDin, that made me laugh. God knows who they'll get to play Valjean, if they're casting older for consistency with Boyle. But it does mean they can have a 25-year old to play young Cosette.

I-I don't know . . .
Quique

It does sort of rhyme if you pronounce "Marius" correctly (though most of us, including me, pronounce it "Merry-us," hehe).
wtfchuck

Miley Cyrus as Eponine!

Razz
dolbinau

I don't understand what is funny about this, I thought you liked her?
kozafluitmusique

...Seriously? Well, I could imagine when they go ahead with the movie, she'll be cast as Fantine no doubt.

And Anyone BUT Miley for Eponine.

How do you pronounce 'Marius'? I believe "Cruise" is pronounced CREWZ; I don't see how that doesn't rhyme with 'marius'?

We must be from different planets then.

Bold added by me.

The correct French way to pronounce Marius is "mar-yoos" (more or less). So it doesn't quite rhyme with Cruise, but comes close. Of course most English speakers pronounce it "mar-ee-us" instead, including me.

(I usually pronounce it with the long "a," though; "Merry-us" makes me cringe a little inside, as does "Kuh-sette"; they're unpopular enough as characters without us English-speakers uglifying their names!)

I go with Merry-us when I speak because that's how I always hear it pronounced on recordings. I go with mar-yoos in French because that's how I hear it pronounced in films.
MariekeLovesEnjolras

I pronounce Marius in English as Merry-us and Cruise as Cruhz, yes. But in that way it doesn't rhyme Razz
Anyway in Dutch I pronounce Marius as Mahriuhs, with the u as the u in run. That's quite common in Dutch, every Dutchie pronounces it that way even in "My name is Marius Pontmercy" (in Dutch: Mijn naam is Marius Pontmercy)...
Since I did not think ofthe French at all, I had no idea how on earth that could rhyme Razz Sorry, you're right, GungaDin, after all Wink
What Is This Feeling?

Ummmm, I have been out of the loop for so long! Are they really make a film?! Or, am I just an absolute imbecile?

It does seem that way but I'm not 100% sure. There is a listing on IMDB for another Les Miz movie in 2010 but it doesn't have any details about if it is of the musical or not. Either way I would love to go and see it.

I think that casting would really depend on how the film would be made. It does seem more like it's going to be a live action movie, but if it was an animated film (which in my opinion would be awesome if it used cel animation and was made by anyone except Disney) then you could just cast really good singers for all the parts, like for some reason I like the idea of Annie Lennox as Fantine - yes she is a bit too old for the part but her voice is perfect and you only need a voice for an animated film. Either way, however, I don't think Susan Boyle would be a good choice for Fantine because I'm not 100% if she can really act and her singing voice is good but not as good as many others and needs a lot of training to be good enough for the film.

Do you have any idea if Julie Walters sings because if she does I think she'd make a pretty good Madame Thenardie. She can really howl and cackle if she wants to and I think she's a pretty funny actress.

There's an actual thread for a LM movie. This one was Monsieur d'Arque making another joke.
