Um...Rosie?

ShockedShocked

I actually hope she gets cast. I think she has the potential to do a good Mme. T.

People are already commenting negatively, saying she can't sing. Well, the role doesn't require amazing vocals to begin with, so I think she could pull it off. The only thing I'm worried about is that her performance might seem like some stand-up routine instead of an actual portrayal of the character, grr.

I guess I've always been curious to see her do the role and probably being too optimistic. She'll probably ruin it, lol. Meh...we'll see.

I think she has the potential to give the role something new and original.

She played the role when a cast did "One Day More" on her cruise-ship...there's a video of it on YouTube somewhere.

(And just as I figured, Les Mis ain't going ANYWHERE. I love also, how this article has pieces of other articles copy/pasted into it. A cookie to anyone who spots what I'm talking about...)

I like Rosie and her Broadway interactions from a distance. She's getting too close to my Les Mis for comfort, though.

She's going to bring a bunch of tourists to the show who want to see Rosie live and will tallk through the entire thing, call is Less "Miserable", and tell all their friends how much they hate musicals. Damn.

She'd probably be better than Ann Harada.

My only complaint is about the same one I had for Lea, namely it's stunt casting and will make the stage door hell on earth. How am I supposed to talk to the barricade boys if I get trampled under the combined mob of Lea fans and Rosie fans?!

Well it's a role that has funny aspects to it, i think she'd make it fun!

Besides, she's a woman who loves Broadway. She was the cat in the hat in seussical and rizzo in grease so at least she has experience.

LOL... there's a difference between casting Lea and casting Rosie. Lea is a Tony-award winner who has a long and pleasant history with Boubil and Schonberg mega-musicals. She's a great actress who made a name of herself by talent. Wheras Rosie... she made a name of herself by other methods (that's the only nice way I can put it.)

yes but rosie HAS broadway experience.
fiddler, seussical, grease...plus she produced a show
she's got plenty of stage experience being a comedian and talk show

and don't forget, fantine is a totaly different character than madame.

I'm assuming you haven't seen Rosie's stage experience. From someone who has... GET HER AWAY FROM BROADWAY! NOW! Her Golde was Rosie dressed up for Halloween. I didn't see her in Grease but the whole idea of her being Rizzo is freaky.

Overall, I'd be excited to see her take over the role, but if she wasn't Rosie she would never even land an audition. If she can be Madame Thenardier, I can.

I would like to see Rosie's Mme. Thernadier...she fits the discription in the book pretty well doesn't she? It's not like Hasseloff wants to be Valjean or anything like that! I say let her!

LOL...

She fits the description... but so do many other people in real life. If she wasn't Rosie, she would never get the role.

Even though she has theatre experience, she isn't famous or even well-known for her theatre experience. That's the fine, fine line between Rosie and some other recent Les Mis stunt casting.
Orestes Fasting

Well, obviously there's a difference. But I'd have to see Rosie in the role to pass judgment. If she took the acting seriously instead of just being Rosie in a costume, she could pull it off.

Plus, seriously, she probably would be better than Ann Harada, who is just not funny as Mme T.

What's your point? That doesn't mean she's going to butcher the role. There's plenty of other acresses and actors out there who get roles simply because their slightly better recognised than a punter. The fact that they are recognised means that it may draw people to the theatre (which is a good thing) and also bring some dynamacy to the role.
