What form does your Mizzie obsession take?

I have noticed different people here, who all love Les Mis, do different things because of their love of the show. One thing we all do is post online about the show but what else do you do? Very Happy

For eg, some people dress up like their fave characters for Halloween or have an Eponine hat etc, some gather different recordings or CD's, some collect pictures of every cast etc etc etc. There are loads of things people do.

Some, like me, live close enough to London to go and see the show fair often and I collect genuine articles which have some link to the actual show, for eg Cosette's doll used by the London cast, a costume used by the German, prop money that fell off the stage during a performance etc,

I collect cast etc signed posters and prorams of special occsions etc.

I also try to do any courses that are runing, like the Masterclass and the NODA summer school.

What do you do?
eponinelover

Hi.
I listen to my 7 different recordings, and tons of sound clips almost dayly. I also collect any cast recordings I can get my hands on. I also talk about les mis constantly, and drive my parents nuts. I have tried to make my friends (who hate LM and think I'm wierd) call me Eponine, but sadly, it didn't work. I sing LM from start to finish with the CSR. I have even picked up some of the OFC lyrics. The list could go on. These are just some of the things I do.
The Very Angry Woman

In the form of actors saying hi to me in Starbucks.

...i have varius different recordings...several eponine hats...i even made a les mis film for my media studies project...not to mention singing all the songs! all the time! plus when ever it's dark an raining when im out walking (or if it's sunny but i feel alone) i end up singing 'on my own' ether in my head, or if there's nobody round, out-loud
Superstar83

Not that much really to be honest. I've seen the show live five times (would go much more if I didn't have to do an 1hour and 1/2 train journey) in London, own the TAC and OLC cd recordings and the TAC video, and that's about it. I used to have one of those official LM t-shirts but it got so worn out I had to throw it away after a few years.

Aimee, that's so awesome that you own actual props! Colour me jealous. :p
Orestes Fasting

Let's see... nothing terribly unique. I do a bit of not-really-costuming--I don't make replica costumes from the show, but I've been known to 'dress up' as a LM character from time to time. *hastily shoves crappy handmade Enjolras vest under the bed* I collect cast recordings--I currently have fourteen of them, with four more on the way eventually. I read and write fanfiction, most of which would probably make Victor Hugo turn over in his grave. When the 3NT was bouncing around the east coast earlier this year, I sort of stalked it... no actors saying hi to me in Starbucks, but a lot of "oh, you again!"s at the stage door.

....oh, and I transcribe (and will eventually translate) bits of the book that never appeared in the final draft, edited bits and "deleted scenes" and the like. If any of you have seen the "Courfey-isms" page somewhere on frenchboys.net, I'm using the same source. I've already posted to my livejournal a meeting between Les Amis and Patron-Minette on the day of the insurrection, an anecdote about Tholomys and baby Cosette, and the first few parts of a very long digression on prostitution. When I've made a bit more headway I'll probably put it all on a proper website somewhere.

Fwee I'm back! I was bored and remembered this website...so hi to everyone I know Smile Missed y'all.

Mine? Well, it manifests itself mainly through my oboe playing...I have the infamous oboe solo and play that a whole lot, and in band I managed to convince the band director (after four long years!) to play a Les Mis medley for this concert (it's my last concert before I graduate). It doesn't have THE oboe solo in it (it doesn't have any, alas) but it's still a Les Mis medley and it's awesome to be playing it.

Very Happy Thank you! A lot of things have changed since I was here last...the forums have gotten all funky, and I have a random green dot next to my name, weird! I still think I'll confine myself to the Les Mis forum, because I bet the POTO forums are still all, OMG MOVIE!
Aimee

LOL I only go there occasionally but I'm glad you'll be posting here again. Smile

I have an Eponine hat, CSR, TAC (DVD and video), OLC, OBC, 2001 LIVE, OFC, Paris Revival, Claire Moore and Dave Willets Highlights, a few songs in Japenese, German, Argentinian, 1985 live, a lot of clips from the 3NT, and many more classified in my Les Mis others. I recently just bought a Les Mis pen on eBay and have the poster on my wall along with my signed picture of JOJ and Frances Ruffelle. I've driven my parents and friends to the brink of insanity and play the CDs constantly. Oh, I've also seen it twice!

Hello

Notorious....HIIIIII. SO nice to see you back again Very Happy

I don't do anything special. I do collect cast recordings, and listen to them frequently, but not daily. I have seen the show 8 times, which is by the standards of those around me crazy, but by mizzies' standards i am newborn Very Happy .

I do sing quite a lot. The other day i was looking for something, and my brother (i am still trying to convince him to go and see it) told me sarcasticly " Look down, look down", which make me laugh quite a lot.
mizzie

It usually involves a large amount of mirrors.

Wink

Just kidding.

Yeah - I've got the Eponine Hat, I go see the show as many times as humanly possible, I wear red and black for no other reason that to honour Les Misrables, dressing up to watch the TAC in my basement, annual revolts against the government on Bastille Day....

You know, the usual!
Aimee

Not to mention your 'list' on your site Mizzie. It's great if I recall correctly. Very Happy

Argentinian isn't a language. That'd be Spanish.

Hi Smile It's nice to be back, I'm seeing all these familiar names and it's like, yay I know these chaps! Missed y'all Smile

We're playing a Les Mis medley in band right now, it's awesome. My band director was like, "We have to do this before you graduate" (since I'm graduating this June, and it's off to college this September) and we are. There's no oboe solo (*sniffle* but...don't worry, someday. It's only a matter of time...first, a Les Mis medley in high school. Then...) but it's still Les Mis and it makes me v. v. happy to be playing it in band.
Aimee

NF you should stick it in. I'm sure I recall sending it to you.

*ignores copyright* lalalala

Hello

NF...great to hear that you are going to play something from Les Miserables even if it is not your favourite oboe segment. I have to tell you that i love your optimisim, and belief that one day you will be playing that piece in an important event. I know everyone can say that he/she will one day do this and that, but for some reason you sound true, and i kind of think that you will do it Very Happy .

Btw, what are you planning to study?

Aww thank you...it's so nice to hear you say that Smile It's my one huge ridiculous dream in my life...everyone has one, that seemingly impossible thing that they dream of and say, "Maybe someday..." and that's always been mine. Striving for your dreams is the only way to live...and I will strive for that, to someday play in Les Mis. It would be the most amazing thing ever and I'm determined to do everything I can to work towards that.

I'm going to college this September (isn't that scary? I'm going to *college*...weird) for kind of a double major, of instrumental music education combined with oboe performance. I'm all set...I had a great audition with the college, and there aren't that many oboe players which is good because then I can finally develop myself as an oboist, and it's hard to do that in a place where there are so many, like at a conservatory or something. I look forward to it...it's scary, the idea of college, but at the same time it's something totally new and different and I can finally work with my music and my future. They have everything at this college...a symphony, a flute choir, a string ensemble, a woodwind ensemble...so I can play all my instruments there. I can't wait!

And yes, Aimee, you did send it to me and I still have it Smile It's downstairs with all my oboe stuff and I do play it quite often.
Ok, sorry, just blathered on about oboe stuff for a bit...that tends to happen more frequently of late Smile We played Les Mis again today and it's just the sort of band piece that you just can keep playing over and over and I still get all high when we get to DYHTPS at the end.
Aimee

Thanks for the 'list' Mizzie, I love it. hehehe.

NF, you should get to band rehearsal early and be playing the oboe solo as everyone comes in, so beautifully that the MD says 'We just HAVE to include it'. Razz

I have this amazing desire to own every recording of Les Mis ever!!! And boy does my bank balance know it!!!

Very Happy How far along are you, then? I'm only missing five, besides the three or four that are ridiculously rare and were only sold in theaters.
Eponine_Fantine

I recreated Eponine's costume and actually wear it from time to time (not in public, though). I also have 2 cast recordings, which I listen to whenver I can. I aslo used to draw the characters in different scenes and things, but once I did all of them I kinda stopped....
Aimee

If you still have them you should show us here. Smile

aww. Sad i wish i could draw, haha.
Aimee

Yeah, me too. I have an artistic eye but not talent with pen, paint or anything else. Cameras are great though, I use them as I don't have to actually draw/paint anything.
philipquastfan

I guess I'm not THAT special in my Les Miz obsessions ... I tend to listen to the cds I've got A LOT (including Highlights, I have 12), I also tend to sing the songs a lot, though not in public - I don't think that would be very appreciated ... Wink
What else, well, I try to gather souvenier items, mostly from eBay ... like programmes, flyers, more cds etc.
I have created a Les Misrables website : http://hem.bredband.net/b528170 - which is still under construction! I have also started up a Les Misrables Message Board : http://onedaymore2006.proboards84.com - which is still pretty new and inactive ... ::: Laughing Laughing hint, hint, more members are always fun!! Laughing Laughing :::
As I live in Sweden, it's not THAT easy for me to get to London, but I have seen the show live, twice in London (2004) and once in a Swedish production (in 1996, I think) ... and that was wonderful! I'm hoping to go back and see it in London this summer! Very Happy

I'm more of a camera/computer person as well...
Etoile

Sometimes when it's dark and the street lights turn on I walk through the park dressed like Eponine and sing On My Own.
