Where's the recording? My computer isn't showing a link.

Thanks for adding the link.

Topics involving Eponine always seem to spark long discussions with differing opinions, but I'll offer my two cents, even though I still haven't read the unabridged novel.

I know that Marius and Eponine's relationship is less friendly in the book than it tends to be in the musical, but I don't like it when musical Marii try to be distant toward her. It's too obvious in the musical's text that he's supposed to like her as a friend. She's not necessarily one of his best friends, what with the class difference, but I think he pities her, has a mild brotherly affection for her, and is either oblivious to her attraction, or realizes it but doesn't like to acknowledge it even to himself. It isn't until ALFOR that he's finally forced to see how much she loves him. Exactly how he responds to that realization depends on the actor. I'm pretty sure that Hugo's Marius only feels pity for her, but a lot of musical Marii (and Marii in Eppybopper fanfics) are wracked with remorse. I'll accept either of those, or anything in between.

As for your rendition, I don't know what to say. I've never heard the song sung by such an un-Marius-like voice, but it's interesting.

i don't know if you are asking for an interpretation of their relationship or just for the basic data?
if it is the second case, in the novel the girl is totally and obssesively in love with him, but has no hope at all to be loved back. Among many other reason because while marius comes from a bourgeois family she is just a street wench and he guysdoes not even see her as a woman. In the musical though, they have made them friends.
In "a little fall of rain" ponine has been shot at the barricade and is dying and marius is conforting her, but he still does not have any kind of romantic feelings for her.

About the recording you have a very beautiful voice but I don't see it as a marius voice

well

Hi People

I thiank you very much for your prais.
And no I do have a barritone bass voice and when I saw
Les Miserables I took the Marius part as a Tenor.

What do you think about that theory?

What kind of role would be better for a kind of voice like mine then?

Thanks for your comments

I'd recommend Javert. I'd love to hear you sing "Stars."
iceb

yes

Well I have done a recording of these songs from les Mis

Stars
Bring Him Home ( in C and not in the standard hi E version )
Drink With me
Emptry Chairs at Empty tables ( Which also is a Marius Song

I dont have these rerdings on the singsnap.com website
because they are simple not there.

Furthermore I might have the recordings still on my own server
which I can chect and post them here.

There is also the Suicide song where Javert kills himself which
I have song too.

So are Marius and Jean Val Jean toners ?

Normally I sing opera and recently Wagner and Pucini but I have
been taken up some musical singing again.

In opera I always sing the evil parts and roles because there it is
the tenor that is the hero and the bass that is the bad guy.

who was the one who said that opera is "a thing where the tenor wants to sleep with the soprano and the baritone tries to stop him"
iceb

haha

Yes yes well said I shall remmember that one.

That is the plot in for instance tosca ( By Puccini )

Anyone has got an idea of which kind of voices
Marius and Jean Val Jean Has got ?

Marius and Valjean are both high tenors. Although Marius has a lighter voice than Valjean.

Good

Hi

Now I have just recorded the
"Stars" song from Les Misrables.

What do you think ?

Your tone is good, but you're very off pitch and your vibrato seems forced which makes it sound kind of messy. Work on those two things and you'll sound much better.

Marius isn't really a "high tenor". He's more of a high baritone, really. A to Ab.
