A small bit of news re 21st birthday.

A while back I bought tickets in the front row for the Saturday matinee on the 7th Oct [I can't make the evening] and today I got a call from the box office saying they are having to move my tickets to row H, the first row sellable to the general public because 'something' is happening to the front rows. Either they are extending the stage over the front 6 or so rows or its sold to VIPS.

hmmmmmmmm...... anyone know any more?
olly

Is the Anniversary not on the Sunday 8th October? Why should they have something special on the 7th? Or are they not having any productions on the 8th?

I might book for the evening performance on the 7th... Or if something special is happening on the matinee, then I'll try to get a Saturday off school.

If they did 'extend the stage', what would they use the extra extension for that they haven't used in the past?
Fantine

My guess would be VIP's.
Aimee

Oddly, I don't mind which it is. All I'm hoping is that its not just empty rows left because of some technical thing that is going to happen that night.

Actually I lie, as I type this I realise that I hope to see Jeff too. *sigh*

'Tis fun to think of impossible things which they could do with those front rows. It's kind of annoying that they don't seem to be doing anything special, but one can dream.
For example, if they got rid of those first rows, they could put in a temporary full orchestra. That would be fun.
On a more realistic note, it's probably VIPs.

From Les Mis.com:

8 October 1985 - 8 October 2006

As most of you know, on October 8th, LES MISERABLES celebrates its 21st Birthday and becomes the longest running musical in the world. Plans to celebrate this have been moved into early 2007 as this date is too close to the re-opening of the show on Broadway to make the appropriate splash! As soon as our plans for next year are more clear, we will announce them on this site.

Michael ball told us recently that he had been invited along to the theatre that evening. He didn't know who else had been invited or what was happening but he thought there will be a few of them there.

Let us know, Aimee!

"The London production's 21st birthday and record-breaking will be celebrated on the evening of Oct. 7 with a specially devised finale at the Queen's Theatre, including special appearances from original cast members Colm Wilkinson, Patti LuPone, Frances Ruffelle and Michael Ball, with the baton being passed from Cats to Les Miz. The two shows shared many of the same creators: producer Mackintosh, director Trevor Nunn and designers John Napier and David Hersey."

Damn I wish I was going. Could have been worse... I would have kicked myself if Roger Allam was gonna perform.

How come the 7:30 performance on October 7th is not selling tickets right now?

Does anyone know when the box office opens?
Aimee

Where have you tried?

I have tried Ticketmaster.co.uk ...
olly

Hmm... I called the Box Office and there was no availability.
Aimee

The fact they are sold out doesn't surprise me one bit, its only a week away. I even got my matinee tickets months ago.
Sad for you.
olly

OK, I don't know why I did this, but can you all reassure me:

I've just booked two tickets for me and a friend for this Saturday's performance at 7:30.

The box office said they booked out 2 weeks ago, and the only ones that are available are the two 'severely restricted view seats' at B26 and G26 on the Upper Circle.

The reason I bought them was:
a) They were cheap: 14.25 each
b) Once in a lifetime oppertunity: Anniversary
c) I've seen it about 9/10 times, so hopefully the restriction won't inhibit my experience that much.

Was this a good idea?

Thanks.

I think those seats are restricted to leg room. Try www.theatremonkey.com they have lots of information on theatre's seating plans and are specific to London theatres.
olly

Well, let's hope!

Theatremonkey didn't have any informatiuon specifaclly for those seats (B26 & G26).

I'll just take what I'm given, if it's restricted, it's restricted... I'm just happy for being able to get tickets to the finale.
olly

Oh my God! I saw those tickets for the evening performance on Saturday on ebay... There was 2 days left and they were going for 40. So, I thought: "Wow, they've been on for a while, and they're only going for 40."

I thought they'd probably end up going for about 100. Two hours before the bidding ended they were going for 125, and I thought I had a pretty good guess.

I just went and checked - they ended up going for 330! That's one reason I hate eBay - people can put 100s on in the last 2 minutes and I sometimes miss out in the last few minutes (not that I was bidding on these!)

It just surprised me how much the tickets ended up going for.
