Article about the musical?

I have a question. I'm gonna have to do my English oral in a couple of weeks and coming friday (20th February) I have to hand in an article on a subject that I can choose myself. It can be about anything, the article can come from anywhere, as long as I have not written it myself and it is not about a book/novel.
Of course, I immediately thought about doing this about Les Mis, the musical. But then I started googling around on the internet, trying to find a suitable article. I have not yet succeeded. I'll keep looking myself, but if any of you has any suggestions, they're more than welcome!!

What about this one?

Or one of the original reviews when it first was performed in London? (Especially one of the negative ones, which are quite amusing in the light of its subsequent success.)

I don't think they're available online but the London Theatre Record magazine will have them.

I have an original, negative London review, though can't locate it now. I recall it called the show "melodramatic" and spectacle driven, or something like that.

I presume you want some sort of newspaper article which gives a fairly broad overview of it, as something which you can then expand upon in your oral?

I had a quick look and this article from 'The Guardian' is quite good if a few years out of date now.

If you're looking for an article which is about 'Les Mis' but touches on an interesting or specific aspect, try:

An article about the concert version of 'Les Mis' which was performed for Jacques Chirac and the Queen at Windsor Castle (The Telegraph)

An article by someone who had the opportunity to join the chorus of the London production for an evening (The [British] Times)

An interview with B&S and about the initial critical reaction and subsequent success, to mark the 20th anniversary of the London opening. (The Independent)

Les Mis in a minute

Gin and tonic. Man in prison for 19 years for stealing bread gets parole. Bloke in charge marks his card. Man steals from kind bishop. Bishop takes pity. Man's life is changed. Ten years on. Man is mayor and factory owner. Factory lady exposed as having illegitimate child. Lady sacked and becomes prostitute. Lady dies. Man's life is changed. Man buys lady's daughter from comedy bar owners. 10 years on. Boy falls in love with daughter. Revolution in air. Girl dressed as boy brings letter from first boy professing undying love for daughter. Man reads it. Man's life is changed. Interval. Revolution. Many die. Boy marries daughter. Man leaves. Comedy bar owners return. Make boy realise man saved his life. Man led to heaven by factory lady and girl who was dressed as boy. Finale.

This gave me a good chuckle Laughing

"Man's life is changed" - this made me giggle every time. But it leaves out a lead competely.
