Australia 2008A professional production of Les Mis is being mounted in Australia in 2008 - starting in Melbourne.
I've only ever seen the West end production so it will be great to go to an Australain one!

Yes, there was one years and years ago (early 90's I think). I have 2 programmes from it, but never saw it.
Hoorah!!! I'm so excited

I've always wanted to see John Farnham as Valjean.
Doubt that'll happen, though.

Not sure, but most likely. Details are still fairly thin on the ground.

There have been two pro tours, the original production in 1988 toured for several years visiting most of the capital cities. Original Cast included Normie Rowe, Anthony Warlow, Marina Prior, Simon Burke and many more.
There was a Tenth Anniversary Production in 1998 also that played Melb and Sydney with a cast including David Campbell and Rachael Beck.
There have also been countless amateur and pro-am productions in the years that there were no professional productions running.

Any ideas of casting?
I'd love to see Tamsin Caroll as Fantine. She's one of my favorite aussie stage performers. Saw her as Nancy in Oliver and title role in Dusty.

Um, yes. | OK, thanks for the sarcasm. I don't live in Aus, nor am I so obsesssed with Les Mis that I know where all the productions in the last 21 years have ever been. The OP didn't clarify that this was a revival, in fact the fact that Buff Daddy had only seen it here inplied that there hadn't been, so I asked.
happyguava, thanks for answering nicely.
