hey, i'm in Les mis right now, as madame t.
and im trying to work on charcter work, but she is totally unlike anything i have ever done so its hard for me.
i was wondering if anyone had any acting tips for me, or clips of the show with her in it, that i could try to incorporate into mine.

Basically what Cloudy This Morning said. Just remember she's mean, abusive and hardly a woman but you love who you are anyway. Jenny Galloway's very good in the TAC even though it's just a concert.

You have to let go of your inhibitions. She is not you.

I don't know you but if you don't feel her yet, the chances are I'm right, you're not a vile, selfish, money-grabbing, dishonest and generally dislikable person, who, from the wit f the libretto gets away with it by being funny.

Just really throw yourself into it.

You can spend some private time visualising yourslef as her, think what she has been through, how she got to be who she is. Even write it down.

If you've not read the book then that will help a lot, though she dies in the book and we only see her up until Thenardier gets arrested.

Then when you've done all that, you can be completely her and not you at all.

That's the fun of acting.

Orestes Fasting

I think of her as the 19th century French equivalent of white trash. 40 years old, disillusioned, vulgar, loud, dumb, with an equally vulgar husband and a bunch of wasted fantasies. And she takes out her frustration on whoever's nearest and can't fight back, in this case Cosette.

hahah ... well i dont think im supposed to be a rat. because, im supposed to be a "big" person, or a "big" voice.
and i dont know what animal i would be.
