Comden and Green's circa 1940 Reader's Digest version

Before ON THE TOWN, Betty Comden and Adolph Green performed with Judy Holliday as THE REVUERS. Among their skits was "The Reader's Digest", which presented 2 to 3 line versions of various books. The one for Les Miz goes:

Les Misrables:

Jean Valjean, no evildoer,
Stole some bread 'cause he was poor.
A detective chased him through a sewer.
The end.

Over at the social board I've started a thread about these condensed versions, have writtten one for OKLAHOMA!, and others are welcome.

I could see that line being used in my idea I've thought of for a musical, spoofing Broadway in general.

Do you like my own condensed version?

Four survived,
One suicide,
Two left to rot,*
The rest were shot
Very Happy

*In the ground.
