Fantine

Do you recognise yourself in any of the characters?

And no, "IM LIKE SO MUCH LIKE EPONEEN BCAUSE I AM TOATLLY IN LUUVVVE WITH THIS GUY BUT HE DOESNT LOVE ME BACK"
Does not count.

Based on the novel, do you see yourself in any of the characters?

I really do think I match with Fantine the way she is when she is still happy with Tholomyes. A bit naive, dedicated... The description of her looks also match mine, but she has blue eyes (I think?) where I have green Razz

(Yes this is a bit of a silly thread but oh well....)
I'll do anything to keep me a little longer from my studies.......

How many people have actually read the novel on here is my question. I attempted, but it was weighing my backpack down everyday when I went to school. Confused

I think all the "oldies" of this forum read it. Some read it more than once.

Yeah I've browsed through some of my fave parts last night (I couldn't sleep). I especially like the scenes between Marius and Cosette. And of course those with Fantine during her relationship with Tholomys and Eponine's death. (>>sicko). It is also rather nice to read it in French. There are so many bits of lines in there that were copied into the OFC, it's really nice Smile

You've even tried FLIRTING? Wow, that's pretty drastic...

Yeah, I think that would be just another qualifier for the Cosette option.

Methinks someone never read the book. Laughing Cosette noticed Marius waaaay before he had any clue that she was actually a girl and not a particularly awkward specimen of an ugly duckling.

Warning: This is going to sound completely cheesy:

When I read the novel last year I felt, morseo than the show even, a connection with Javert. He is so absolutly in love with what he does and is so determined to hunt down Valjean. It is very much like me in every way. I am very determined to make the best of each situation and address it to the best of my ability, whether it be positive of negative. I also feel the spiritual connection Javert has. I have doubted my faith and I know how incredibly challenging it can be and how it really can make you question your whole life.
Quique

The Bishop.

Cause I can be quite insane in a good way like him and be ridiculously kind to people to the point of looniness.

Though I don't think I'd ever travel a dangerous route to a far away town, risking my life and possibly getting robbed and murdered, for charity, lol.

I'm good but not that good, lol.

I just finished the novel a few days ago, and I don't remember any mentions of Javert's religious convictions. I don't think we're ever given the impression that Javert is strong in his faith or anything of the sort.

Of course, I could be wrong.

I'm not really talking about his exact religious belief's but how he believed that people don't change and that sinners are sinners and such...I'm starting to confuse myself though...surely I'm not thinking of another book...let me go look it up...*sigh*

Hm... I feel a lot like Cosette sometimes because I was adopted into a family from what would be a not so great situation... I think. And I've had moments like her in the book, when she was like "OH EM GEE I'M ACTUALLY NOT THAT UGLY!" (or at least that's how I remember that scene... hehe), but that's only been once or twice - still the idea makes me laugh. There are a lot of other things that I'm blanking on right now, but once I actually went through and thought about it.

I'd like to say I feel a lot like book!Eponine, since she's one of my favorite characters, but I'm not (or at least I hope I'm not) that crazy. I don't remember the exact line, but when she's telling Marius about sometimes she just walks all night - that's a lot like me. Whenever I want to avoid a situation, I just walk away and keep walking. One of the things I recognize myself most in her is her regretting of her choice to tell Marius to go to the barricades and then trying to amend it. I feel like I always do things I regret and then I try to fix it... Things don't always go as planned.

So I suppose I'm a little like Eponine, but not that much. I'd say I share more things with Cosette.
Aimee

Two characters strongly. As a young woman [just 19] I fell in love at first sight, got engaged after 3 weeks and know exactly how Cosette feels about marius.

Then two- Fantine. I know how it is to love deeply but to lose that love [and to dream your love will return to you even though its impossible] as my beloved husband died when I was 26. The sadness never leaves though of course 9 years later I met my now fiance and am happy again with him, I still grieve for my first love.

Aimee...i don't know wether to smile or cry...thats really moving.

I see myself as more of a Grantaire. Unsre of his life, just kinda meandering along. Keeping his true self hidden. BUT always there with a truth.
kittengoespop

I'd like to say that I'm a lot like Enjolras (because I am virginal and passionate about my convictions and stuff), but nobody listens to me, and I don't think I could lead a group of men to their deaths.
Dennis Galahad

Book characters? Ah good. That way people will know who I'm talking about. I'm a mixture of Combeferre and Gavroche. I like to learn and curl up with a good book, but I can help lead a rebellion if needed too. As for Gavroche, I like to be annoying, I'm somewhat snarky, and I'm caring.

I see can see a bit of myself in Valjean.

A few years ago I stole some bread and I was arrested but I escaped and I've been on the run ever since.
