Never saw his Thenardier but I have an E! Behind The Scenes special on the Broadway production with him in the role. There's one very short clip of him onstage but they show him singing in other parts of the doc and he has a great voice.
Others in the cast during his 2nd run as Thenardier (his first was in 1988) were Susan Dawn Carson (Fantine); Debbie Gibson (Eponine); Mark McKerracher (Valjean); Richard Kinsey (Javert); Evalyn Baron (Mme. Thenardier); Lacey Chabert (Young Cosette). Not sure about the rest.
