Eponine as a stereotypeHi all! I'm in the chorus of a production of Urinetown right now and we all got together to decide on characters for those of us who don't have names already. I was given L. Mis Eponine. The problem is, I have to perform as if she were a stereotype. I am really not familiar with the show at all and all I really know about her is she is a waif. Any help?

Eponine is your typical teenager, in a sense. She has a crush on her 'best friend', a guy who doesn't realize her affections and loves somebody else. She is indeed a waif, but she seems street-smart and 'knows her way around', as the lyrics say.
When she was a little girl, her family had money, and she was a spoiled child, which is a big contrast to the way she lives in her older years. Most of the time, she runs errands for her crush, Marius.
You can get an idea of her history/personality in the two songs "Eponine's Errand" and "On My Own". Check out the lyrics to both of them, and listen to them if you can get ahold of them.

lol. Yes, so true.
I only get testy when the actual character is trashed upon, but as far as fandom goes, go for it. lol.
Only God knows how annoyed I am by all of it as well. It makes fans of the show and those who like the character look bad.
