Four yearsIn two days from now, I'll be on this board for four years. On one hand it makes me think that I have no life, on the other hand I have had a lot of fun here
So I thought I'd make this my little anniversary Mostly because it is fun to bring back memories. I've seen a lot come and go: people and events. I remember the tea cattle inside joke, the huge flame wars that were going on early 2004, when the forum was still unmoderated. What a relief it was when the boards got their first mods! I remember old friends: eponine1983 (whom I even met in real life), piscesmoni, ChingLing... Where have they gone? One may wonder and never know. There is always someone standing aside, ready to take your place. We got to greet some new wonderful people (lesmisloony, Orestes Fasting, etc) and had even more discussions. I don't think there could be any more "original" discussions. I've seen at least 5 "Eponine VS. Cosette" discussions and I think about 10 "School Edition" threads.
Still, it's still fun to be here
Anything you would like to remember? People, events?

Only 5 Eponine vs. Cosette discussions? That's surprising.
Anyway, happy Board Anniversary!

Happy board anniversary!
I remember and miss Sairin/Alanna, javertsw, Rainycrystal/Sissi, Piece of Crap and the people that you've already said, also the 'peachheadeponine' incident and the many times that we all tried to migrate to other boards. Also the annoying girl two summers ago who was obsessed with how good the new London cast would be, before they even started performances.

|
Aw, I'm so flattered you included me! *hugs*
I actually hit my four-year anniversary at Le Cafe right about the time it was shut down, but I remember how melancholy it can be to remember all the great people who disappeared.
Anyway, I wish I could contribute to the memories, but I've only been posting here for, what, a couple months? Though I have to say I think *I've* seen ten LMSE threads in that amount of time.
Happy board anniversary! May you post for many more.

Hahaha, I also remember Piece of Crap and PeachHeadEponine. Crazy.
I miss when Jordan used to flirt with TVAW, and she'd play along.

I remember them too! Sometimes I wonder where they dissapeared to. How could I forget peachheadeponine? Gosh she provoked everyone on these boards, although I remember her being quite loved in the Misc board. (When the Social Club was still the misc )
I also remember ( Evan ) (who doesn't), Loppy Poo and Evangrubbs.

I remember the peachhead incident too. That was so random.
And all those casting threads, remember that? The Les Mis forum cast and whatnot, and there was drama with all those, because when there's that many actors in one place there's almost always drama (not that orchestra people are that much better, mind you)
Wow Fantine, four years. That's pretty neat. I remember all those people too, and Le Cafe...man I spent so many hours there! I went to go look for it the other day and realized it was gone. Sad.

lesmisloony

^^Holy crap!
TheOboist, is that you? It's been... YEARS.
|
Fantine

NF does appear here some times
I remember those casting stuff. I started out at LeCafe all those years ago (but it was pretty crappy back then) when someone (eponine1832) pointed me to these boards because a virtual cast recording was being made. (By Azelma).

omg it is! And omg it's you, I haven't seen you in bloody well forever! Or had someone call me that in forever, haha (well that would be a lie, I'm in an orchestra and I get "oboe, aren't you supposed to be playing there?" and the suchlike). I miss Le Cafe, good times, that

*glomp attack squish*
What's been going on, dude? Whatever happened to Fluffy? And...well I see you still have your Montparnasse obsession so all is right with the world
|
lesmisloony
|
OH MAN. FLUFFY! *dies laughing* You're right, we haven't talked in about, er... well, I'd say it's been about three years.
He started dating some really skanky girl, I flew into a retarded rage... then he graduated and I never really saw him again. No big loss, that.
Heh... wow, that was embarrassing for me. In retrospect. I emo'ed all over xanga, didn't I?
Ahem. In other news, I see you're still fond of the oboe...
Is it weird to say that every time I see/hear that oboe solo during LM I think of you and Le Cafe good times?
|
NotoriousFunnt
|
Aww, that's too bad, I remember how much you liked Fluffy. And Squishy, before that. Boy is that going back, and I can't believe I still remember those names And it's not fair, the guys we like either date skanks or turn gay. Le sigh.
Haha yes, I'm still an oboist. Kind of hard to get away from because I'm a music education major (soph in college) with a concentration in oboe My current orchestra is fabulous, we just had our first concert this past Sunday and last summer we went to Europe, but I didn't go because I'm a poor college student and had to work over the summer. I might go with my old orchestra to Austria next year (they're inviting alumni, hooray) so yay for orchestra. I started a double major with flute which was a bad idea but I like flute, so it's fun. Being a music major sometimes isn't, but what can you do
Haha that's not sad, that's the greatest oboe solo in all of musical theatre and I still get all spazzy and happy when I hear it I have it saved on my mp3 player as "the oboe solo omg yay " and I'm totally determined to play it someday. Somewhere in the world there will be a Les Mis production in need of an oboist and that solo will be played...*stalks world* And Le Cafe was awesome. I miss that too. I went looking for it the other day but it seems long gone and that's sad
So what have you been up to?
|
lesmisloony
|
Quote: | I have it saved on my mp3 player as "the oboe solo omg yay " |
*dies laughing... again*
Well, I'm a freshman in college (though I believe the proper term is "first-year" for some reason...) and I just changed my major to French (because of Les Mis, of course) a few weeks ago. In hopes of being a translator or a... subtitle artist? Whatever those are called. I don't have any [non-fictional] crushes/loves/whatevers at the moment... not many prospects, but I'm strangely satisfied with that. Boys are dumb. And if they're not... they're usually gay. And they're a timesuck.
But... yeah. OKAY. When I saw LM earlier this month from the box, I could see right down into the orchestra, and I noticed at one point one of the girls (I *think* it was the oboist, but I'm not sure) was doing a crossword puzzle on her music stand. I was rather amused. I dunno, I just thought of that... But now you have a real chance to end up in the LM pit (I have faith in you ) since they're starting up another US tour in 09...
Okay, how bad is it that you remember Squishy and Fluffy and I can't remember your oboes' names? I know you had a nice one at home with a very noble name, and then there was the cracked one at school... or something like that... You used to talk about them in the forum, and it always made me chuckle.
My chief Le Cafe memories are the topics that we refused to allow to drop, like "Michael Ball IS Marius," "YKYOWLMW...," "Top Ten Things ___ Would Never Say," and I think there was a very lengthy "Religion and Spirituality" one... And then there were calliope, Ponine24, Eponine (Letty), DJ_Tifa, and, of course, the infamous Sarah_Chagal. And there were a LOT of trolls there at the end.
Hey... weren't you the one who taught me how to make my letters different colours? And then I got excited and did rainbow posts?
|
Quique
|
I looooved Le Cafe. I first joined in 1997, stopped posting for a couple of years and resumed visiting the forum around 2001/2002 and stayed until it was shut down. I completely forgot what my username was though. I remember the "Michael IS Marius" thread and a few others. Who could forget Sarah Chagal? XD
|
Quique
|
Oh yes! I think my username was "Number 1 Fan" or something like that, hahaha.
I could have had two accounts. Not sure what the other one was.
|
NotoriousFunnt
|
Oh man, I remember all those topics. Especially the top ten things, haha. I don't know why it stuck out in my mind but it did. Weird. And those usernames too, I always kinda wondered whatever happened to those people. I lived there my freshman and soph year in high school. I miss Le Cafe, it was awesome and it's a shame it's gone now I'm not sure if I was there when the trolls invaded, though.
Wow, you're in college too! This is weird, lol. Makes sense that you'd major in French...if I...well, no, if I could choose any other major it'd be criminal psychology, but I was at one point considering a French minor.
Haha, if it was back during fresh and soph year hs, then my oboe was Chandler That was probably the only instrument I spoke of back then, because I didn't start acquiring other/new instruments until junior year. But I probably mentioned Chandler a lot because he was my oboe back then and we spent a lot of time together I got a pro oboe junior year, Elissa, and she's such a diva, let me tell you that. The only cracked one at school was the English horn they all passed around...Julien...but again, I didn't get him until senior year. My other instruments at the moment are my violin Nadia and my flute Stefan. I still talk about my instruments all the time, haha (and learned never to let my roommate name them for me...she named my trumpet for brass methods Linguini o_O)
LOL I don't know about the rainbow posts thing...my knowledge of codes in boards and whatnot is next to nothing. The only thing I know about computers is what gets my Myst games running, lol.
Sarah_Chagal. Yeah, impossible to forget that one. And calliope, she's another one I wonder about.
|
Kragey
|
Happy forum anniversary, lovely!
|
lesmisloony
|
Chandler and Elissa! Wow...
The rainbow posts might have been Ponine24... it's been so long!
Hahaha Linguini! Oh man.
I know people seemed a lot sillier at Le Cafe than they are here. I remember long conversations about Colm Wilkinson's resemblance to a koala trying to eat its own nose... or a waffle iron... or something like that. And DJ_Tifa had imaginary Mizzies living in her house, and she'd often update us on how they were interacting. Made no sense, but it was hilarious. And at one point someone drew a very good picture of Enj taking a bubble bath with his vest hanging over the door. Or something.
(This disjointed post has been brought to you by sleep deprivation.)

Hey guys! OMG I can't believe you guys are here! (Thanks Erin for giving me the link here) Oboist, you remember me? Hell, I forget what my s/n was back then but it had 'inspector' in it. lol How the heck have ya been?? *huge hug*
OMG, you guys remember JavertHuntz24601?? I have Jim's IM and I'll send him the link to see if he'll come back here.
I remember everyone back on the forum. Oh man, those were the days!!

It's so cool that old Le Cafe members are showing up here! I've missed all of you. Welcome!

JAVERTHUNTZ24601! YES! I most definitely DO remember him!
Remember when some guy had us all convinced that he was Philip Quast? (Okay, maybe not *all* of us...) A guy called "MiserableStars" or something? And, like, he was calling someone on the phone and singing for them? And then he said he was Garry Morris on Philip Quast's SN, because PQ was in the hospital? But then someone traced the area code on his phone to Kentucky or something?
Okay, I just spent forEVER on my old abandoned xanga, and I found this entry from July 21, 2004:
"So, I have heard from the most reliable of sources that Philip Quast had a heat stroke resulting in a heart attack and is in the hospital right now. He had surgery done and may not be able to sing again. I heard this from Gary Morris, who was using PQ's screen name. Does anyone know for sure this is true? I believe it, but I really don't want to."
Hahaha that guy was a big LIAR.
PS: OBOIST OBOIST OBOIST. Curly Fries! Remember??

I didn't believe it for a second. In fact, I recall laughing at those who fell for it, and there were many that did, lol.

I actually started to get suspicious when, upon my third attempt to IM him, he said it was Ross McCall or whatever, Gavroche from the TAC. I was like... okay, it's weird enough that they want me to believe that PQ and Gary Morris hang out, but it's getting *really* weird when they throw Ross McCall into the mix...
Obviously it was just someone who wanted attention and had the CSR...
Quote: | I'm sure you already know this, but in a attempt to cheer you up, Lea Salonga logs onto this site... seriously. |
In fact... I did. I read that whole thread and everything, just because I heard Lea had been sighted there. Oh, fandom.

hahaha, that was funny. I do remember that now.
Man, it has been sooo long! *feels old now*
I'll either give a call to Jim or send him an IM. We've been contacting eachother since le cafe died. Or, if anyone has AIM, thats his s/n. JavertHuntz24601
I got one for you all, you remember that pinballwizard guy? Who had like 20 of the same s/ns but with different colors?? OMG he was annoying. And we couldnt get rid of him because he just switched to another sn with a different color.
Though I do remember that the main topics on le cafe got the most replies, not the role playing topics. *tear* No one wanted to RP!!
|
lesmisloony
|
YES. PINBALLWIZARD WAS HORRIBLE.
I actually have an old conversation we all had with a really obnoxious critter called addt0556 saved to my xanga for some reason. I guess I thought it was funny. But it's like, Sarah_Chagal and Ponine24 snarking at the poor stupid thing...
|
InspectorDani
|
I remember that conversation!!!! Someone put it on one of the topics and I remember laughing my ass off. haha
We really had some good times until those characters showed up and just chased people away. It really was a shame. Do people not have anything else better to do than to act like a freakin' idiot??
|
NotoriousFunnt
|
Oh man, Curly Fries XD How could I possibly forget that guy. I finally told him I liked him at the end of my soph year and he didn't believe me. Guys. Or should I say, high school
OMG that PQ guy...I totally remember that! It's one of those things you forget until someone reminds you and then it's all OHH...I remember this one girl kept IMing him every single night and everyone was freaking out trying to figure out if it was real, and then started fighting...didn't that girl get really defensive and angry when it was (suprise, surprise) turning out to be fake? That was funny. I think the reason I didn't believe it was because I couldn't see well-known musical actors going on AIM And they were older folk, so my 15 year old brain was all, "omg but older people don't use AIM!"
InspectorDani, yes, I do believe I remember you as well Man, those were fun days. I do miss Le Cafe before it died. And...let's see, who else was there. One of the people from there I actually met in real life...we both met up at the national tour of Les Mis in '04 when it was equidistant to both of us. That was neat. Oh and wasn't there someone named Javerta? Don't know why it stuck out in my mind.
|
lesmisloony
|
Javerta... hmm. I know the name, but I don't remember if it was someone on the forum. Maybe.

InspectorDani

NotoriousFunnt wrote: | And they were older folk, so my 15 year old brain was all, "omg but older people don't use AIM!" |
Haha, that is histerical!
Oboist, my s/n wasnt the same as it is now when I was on le cafe.
Oh, and get this everyone, I was just thinking about everyone the other day. Something in my mind brought up le cafe and I started to remember everyone and said to myself "I wonder where they are at now." It is great that were meeting up with old friends. I certainly would never forget anyone from any of the forums.
