FRESHMEN... help me :(

okay so I'm a Freshmen in high school and were doing Les Miserables, which I barely new about until this week. I bought all of the songs and now I know most of them word for word. haha I absolutely loveee musicals. When I was in 6th grade I was in the chorus for both shows, and in 7th grade I didn't try out, but when I was in 8th grade I was helping out with my younger sisters show backstage and it made me want to audition for the musical so I auditioned for Once on this Island. I ended up getting one of the leads. (Asaka mother of the Earth) I knew all of my lines like the first week of rehearsals hah. and I was so excited for the show. The director for all of the high school shows helped out with our show. He seemed to like me, because I can belt loudly and I was one of the few who knew my lines already. I'm happy that I had a good impression on him, but now I'm in high school and with the seniors it's going to be tough to get a good role. I went to a singing and acting camp and I had a couple of solo songs and I'm very comfortable on stage. I also look much older for my age soo that can be good or bad.
I really would like to get the role of Eponine. I love all of the songs so much but hers are more in my range. We have a lot of talented seniors and I'm pretty sure Fantine will go to one of my friends who is a senior and can belt amazinglyy! and Cosette will most likely go to one of the seniors who has a really operatic high voice. and there is also a girl who is a little chubby but is hysterical and has a pretty strong voice so madame thenardier would be good for her. so far, all of the shows Ive seen. Those are the only girls who are really good. but who knows, there could be some other girls too.
I know I can do the role, but I'm just afraid that I'll get nervous during the audition, but thats no excuse. I just need to practice more in front of people. Do you have any tips for me? and also any ideas for an audition song??
Thanks so much Smile

Alsoo heres some info about how a look to give you an idea if id look the part.
~I'm like 5'5 or 5'6
~Im play bball so im athletic.
~long brown wavy hair
~blue eyes
~i look like im 17
anddd i have a pretty big range. i can sing the high note really good at the end of "a heart full of love" that cosette sings. i can belt rly good. but im still developing, it really depends on when I'm confident or not. I can also go pretty low. I get rly in to character when I'm acting.
hope tht helps (:
music is my life!!!

i think you'd be a pretty good eponine tbh Smile esp, as you have a good upper range too. You'll have some competition for her though Sad

pick a song from the 80's (not necessarily) and in a pop style that shows your belt REALLY well and you'll be in with a shot Smile

If you don't get Eppy, I'm sure you'll get a good chorus part (Think of the FactoryGirl and other soloists Smile )

break a leg! Very Happy Very Happy

my musical director passed away :(

well I don't think were gona do les miserables. my musical director died in greece during a trip with the jazz band. When he was in the airport he collapsed and had a heart attack. One of the kids tried to give him CPR but it was too late. I have to go back to school tomorrow and its going to be pretty tough. He's been teaching for 28 years and has touched so many people. He was such an important person at our school. We have an amazing fine and performing arts at our school and it is mostly because of him. He also used to help out with my middle school musicals. He was such a big help and i don't no what we would have done without him. He showed a lot of interest in me last year during the show because I took it very seriously and learned all of my lines very quickly and had a lot of fun. I was so excited to go to algonquin so i could be in the musical with him directing it. Unfortunately i will never be able to experience that Sad

That's very sad. I know who you're talking about ... he was my music director many years ago. Many of my friends and my brother knew him, as well. May he rest in peace.
