Full West End Les Mis Score on Ebay!

Not sure how this made it's way to Ebay but VERY excited.

If I played the piano well enough I'd never leave the house! Very Happy

Iiiinteresting.

Realistically, I'll be too hella busy on June 4th to participate in the last-minute bidding frenzy, and it'll probably get driven up to a price I can't afford... but ohhh, I want it. I guess I'll just have to add it to my watch list and turn green with envy as the price spirals ever higher.

The biggest draw is that it's an official, cast-only copy. The score itself is just the vocal line and piano, not the full orchestral score which I'd love to own.

Still, it's a really neat item and I'd love to have it nonetheless!

I would sell my house, my car (theoretical car, becuase I can't afford one yet anyway!), an arm and a leg to get my hands on a full orchestral score!! I actually contacted the theatre a year or so ago to see if any were available... they had one or two copies available for hire, I think, but there were huge waiting lists and only certain songs were available :/

Maybe one day, if I ever make it into the cast... even just the chorus or a swing part would be a dream come true... I'll get to see the score Razz

Would people be interested in the pdf I have? It's a large file (100MB), but it is 934 pages long. It's a conductor's score, so is slightly condensed (i.e. it just has WW1 and 2 at the top with relevant instrumental directions). I'm not sure what version it is for, but it has the 2 IDAD versions and seems to be mostly uncut from the CSR, and is copyright 1986.

I think I already have a copy of that Smile

YES. I've been looking everywhere.

Just out of curiosity, is this legal?

Um, I have no idea, but I have the feeling that material can be used for research without copyright infringement??

I'll send the link via PM to be on the safe side.

The PDF mentioned is the Full Score of the Reduced Orchestration from MTI.
2 Reeds, 2 Horns, 2 Tpts, Tbn, Guitar, Bass, 3 Keyboards, Drums, Percussion and Strings (IIRC)

I meant the Ebay listing for the cast-only score. Isn't this essentially the same thing that happened to the next-gen iPhone? Someone was given the score, and he decided to sell it, or someone lost it, and it got picked up and is now being sold, or someone sold it to someone else who's now selling it for a profit. Any way you look at it, while the ebay listing seems legit, the practice seems kinda shady. Obviously, there could be a whole legal market for these cast-only scores that I don't know about, in which case my post is moot.

Well, as I mentioned before, I have been looking everywhere for this score, but couldn't find it. Ebay, Amazon, they all don't seem to sell this conductor's score. I don't think it's actually legal (but then again, half the things online aren't), so I didn't open it as it may contain viruses, and I don't want my computer to crash again.

Yes please, I've been looking for it everywhere.
Sorry if it seems cheeky to ask for something in my very first post.

The reduced MTI orchestration is excellent. Practically identical sounding to the full orch, which I also have.

And yes, the reduced version includes the entire show pre-cuts but obviously doesn't contain the bits added and revised in 1997, like the well scene and the truncated intro to the Paris scene.

This is strange, I'm quite sure that the MTI score has the well scene. I went through the whole score once for school and am 100% sure I saw it in there =/

Just looked. Yes, it is.
Quique

Just checked and mine has the well scene too. I didn't see it when I first skimmed through it but you know how those .pdfs are--such a drag to scroll through, grr.

Oooh, first bid has been placed. Blood in the water, time for all the sharks to start swarming...

(Not that I have a tab permanently open on the auction or anything, oh no, not me. And I certainly haven't been refreshing it every six hours or so. Or entertaining the secret hope of being able to afford it in the end, since I want to be able to bang out the show on the piano but like hell am I printing out a 500-page PDF of the piano/vocal reduction.)
Wandering Ranger

I'd bid but I all ready got me one of those. Well, its the full show and its the piano/vocal score but its not direct from the WE or anything its the score you get if you do the full show abraod or something from MTI.

Well, as you can see from previous posts, a lot of us also own fairly complete scores. Personally I have the MTI score for reduced orchestra that has been talked about along with a couple of piano vocal scores. But that doesn't mean I don't want this one as well Smile.

Perhaps if we clubbed together? ... Wink
Wandering Ranger

good idea but we would need to elect a "bidder" that is to say a person whose account shall actually bid then transfer the funds over to that person. If we can sort that out I am more than happy to be said person

You're volunteering to buy the score with other people's money... and then what?
Wandering Ranger

that would be something else to sort out and its not all "with other peoples money" I would obviously put in some myself.
l'ivrogne transfigur

Heavens, I didn't really mean what I said seriously. (Hence the ... Wink ). I'm sorry for any misunderstanding I've caused, but I don't think I'd feel comfortable giving my money to someone else to buy something that would be owned 'collectively'.
Muscialperformer92

Gosh I'm tempted to bid on it! Though it's silly since I have the whole thing in pdf.. but the whole "castmember only" thinks is kinda nice haha Wink Must ..resist... and use money on tickets instead!
kemathenga

It's on display again. Anyone cares to have a second chance?
