I'm Playing Eponine.I'm super excited for pictures to be taken, because I'll def. post them.We are also building the classic, revolving stage! Mr. Jackson, our choral director, might retire, so he wants this year's musical to be the best that WHS has done, and it was extremely well cast! Wish me luck! And I also wanted to know, if anybody else has played this role, and could give me some tips or something? Anybody else been IN it, and just want to share who they played? It'd be great, thanks! |

I've never played the role but I've seen the show several times (professional, community and high school)
it's really up to you as an actor but I tend to love when Eponine is played as a strong woman. Like instead of feeling sorry for herself during "On My Own" it's almost more of a desperate-ness ... she should be very much a real person (IMO) |

Cast, not casted. |

Well done for getting the part! It's a great one, so live up to it. My school's never done Les Miserables and I've never seen a school edition so I don't know much about that. Have you read the book? If not, than I'd advise reading the descriptions of Eponine in it, even if the whole book is too long. I love Eponines who are similar to how she was originally written, although you have to remember the musical Eponine is almost a completely different character.
Try to make her insane! |

Exactly. Make her interesting. Make her different!
Hopefully I will get the oppurtunity to play Eponine one day, and I want to add some kind of a different edge to the character - I don't just want to be a poor, lovesick little girl. |

eponine5 - Thanks! I love her part too! Yes, I have indeed read the book! How they explain Eponine is so different then the musical, but I plan to make her a mix of both, and then put a little of myself in there also! I'm extremely excited! We get profesional pictures done sometime this week I think!
happyguava - I will be sure too! And good luck with trying for Eponine too! Let's hope that Broadway keeps it around when they bring it back, so you can be the BEST version Eponine. ;D Classic Broadway. |

I read it. That person has a very good opinion backed up with facts. I respect it. I never really thought of Eponine as a 'tragic hero' nor I don't think there was a time where I thought I could 'relate' to her. Actually, sad as this sounds, I mostly wanted Eponine because I have always been 'prim' and 'propper' characters. Very clean, nice dresses, nice hair. I just wanted to be dirty. And I adore belting. I don't sound mature enough for Fantine, and I knew two girls (who were cast) that were shoe-ins for Cosette and Madame Thenardier. Not tall enough for Jean Vajean... (lmao) So I guess Eponine was my best shot! And I won the part! Aimee - Sure! I think I'm going to save the pictures until our set is finished being built, so then I could upload set pictures and our character pictures. |

Good for you. That's kind of a relief to read. |

I don't know what you're going to go with the role, but I'd love to see a more book-based Eponine one of these days. Not quite insane, but a few paving stones short of a barricade, if you get my drift.
Not that I'll actually see you. Just saying. |
