Les Mis: Broadway in the Desert

So I'm new to the forum, but I thought all you Les Mis junkies like me would like to know a really cool tidbit of info. An ampitheater in my town is putting on one of the few Les Mis regional productions. If any of you will be in or near Southern Utah next fall, I HIGHLY recommend it. I've seen many shows on Broadway, and the shows this theater puts out are regularly much better than a lot of the shows. The slogan is "Broadway in the desert.

One of the cool effects planned is to have Javert actually jump into an actual water filled river. This theater has a flood feature that they built into it. It starts up at the top of the canyon (this theater in the back of a beautiful red rock canyon) and goes down a series of cascades and eventually floods the whole state. The plan from what I hear is to have him jump off the bridge, into the lowest cascade, where a dummy/double will fload the rest of the way down. Should be a specatular effect.

The other think that will be very cool is that the battle scene will be spectacular. If any of you have been to the Tuachan Ampitheater, in Saint George, Utah, you'll know why... (www.tuachan.org, if anyone is interested in looking. Should be some pics of the theater there)

Anyways, random post, but thought I'd put it out there anyway!

I'd be a bit worried about the depth of the river, too shallow and an actual fall could hurt, too deep and someone who can't swim won't do very well.

I guess I should have clairified, he'll actually fall into a net before the the river, and then a dummy/double will float the rest of the way. Stage Magic!
