I saw those the other day . . . . . . your Marius has a good voice, and Cosette's dress is gorgeous, the AHFOL was fantastic. Do you have the full version of that?
Kudos on an excalent SE cast, the costumes were for the most part, great. But I didn't entirely like Eponine's "boy" clothes . . . . seemed too clean and fancy for anything she could get a hold of. The revolving stage was great . . . . it all looked very professional. God bless, ~Ruth |
||||

I agree with you on the Eponine's 'boy' clothes, they were a little odd and not very flattering on her, but oh well, her voice made up for it! A majority of the cast is currently in 'Cats', which should be even more amazing! We open Thursday! |
||||
Aimee |
Her boy clothes aren't meant to be flattering. Eponine being pretty and attractive is NOT part of the Les Mis story. In fact, having just seen the video I think the red is VERY distracting and totally wrong [sorry].
Anyway, the clips are great thanks for sharng them. I especially like Fantine's voice in the clips. Madam T was very funny in MOTH. I'm not sure about some of the direction though.. Thenardier dancing on his knees in Paris?? Erm... not very real. That's a personal opinion. One of the things I love about Les Mis is its stylised realism. I like the set, the bridge looks ace when he jumps into the river. Can you exaplain about the screen at the top? Is it a screen or another, higer bit of the stage [the barricade maybe]? Ta. |
||||
candleshoe07 |
Which screen are you talking about? Where the words are projected on? |
||||
Aimee |
Then its not a screen but it looked to me like there was a projection screen [10th aniversary concet style] but it must just have been a higher paert of the set.
candleshoe |
There were projections used in the show that told where the scene was taking place. There is a very large speaker thing above the proscenium that can be very distracting, so to make it look like it fit better, they used the projections. In every show I''ve been in there, they always find a way to cover it up!

I'm the pickiest Les Mis S.O.B. on the face of this planet, lol, and I am telling you...your high school's production is AMAZING!!!
Not a single bad voice. The acting is strong. The set, costume, and lighting design spectacular. The orchestra is incredible. The ensemble is strong and belts their little hearts out. All I can say is ...WOW!!! Some of the direction didn't take full advantage of the turntable as in the original production. Such as the end of "One Day More" and it seemed most of it was used to simply spin the cast around as they sang in some numbers. But I realize this is just a small sample and I'm sure most of the show's direction was marvellous, judging by some of the better directing seen in the videos. I liked "A Heart Full Of Love," "On My Own," and "Lovely Ladies," amongst others. I was confused as to why Eponine's second act 'boy' costume was being worn during the first act. I think that look has become so heavily associated with "On My Own" and has been feminized, even though it's supposed to be dude attire. I think it's because the way the trenchcoat looks like a dress on many Eponines and also the way most Eponines keep their hair down. Sutton Foster was smart and hid her long hair under her cap, out of sight, which is the way it should be done. Her second act costume was funny-looking, lol. It looked more feminine than anything, while the first act treanchcoat one almost looked glamourous and pretty. Other than those little tiny things (cause they are tiny little details that don't really affect the overall quality of the production), I'm absolutely impressed with your production. Great job!!! |

For a student edition that was fantastic. I wasn't expecting that quality of performance from a high school. The ending was so wonderful. Your lighting was wonderful and I love the turntable and all the sets. It made the production look professional.
A heart full of love was my favourite. And there wasn't a single bad performer. I actually liked Thenardier - it makes him seem more like an evil crackpot Do you have a full copy of this performance? Please post more (I would love to see somthing from Cats. Break a leg! ) Gee, I wish my high school didn't do Les Miserables a few years ago |
||||
Pshhness |
!!! Wow, that's incredible!!!! Every single aspect was amazing=). I especially like Cosette ^__^...
Geez, my school doesn't have the money or the talent to do this... Stupid underfunded Canadian Schools... |

I have to say, I usually hate watching the videos that turn up on youtube of school edition Les Miserables, but seriously, that production looked so proffesional! Both Thenardiers were excellent and the chorus songs (which honestly, usually make me cringe) sounded great. It was obviously a very talented cast with talented directors.

I left a comment on you tube but Im going to get slated for it I know it. theres certain things i didnt like but all in all it looked like a good show. The master of the house scene looked brilliant. I was alittle diappointed fauntine didnt go for the big forte in a I dreamed a dream and felt that val jean was too low but they were stilll good. kudos to them its a bloody hard show to pull off. Its not really designed for children so any child cast that pulls it off then kudos!
candleshoe07 |
Thank you all for your comments! Hopefully, "Cats" gets taped so that you can see how wonderful it's going to be! Almost all of the leads from "Les Mis" are either in 'Cats' or helping with it, so it's making it even better! I'm planning on posting a full video of One Day More with a montage of clips from the show in the next couple of days, so I'll be sure to post it on here once I finish it! Thanks again!
Ep-Griz-Reno |
who is who in cats?? I just did les mis last summer and we're doing cats for out next show!
candleshoe07 |
Okay...
Marius - Munkustrap Enjolras - Munkustrap (it's hard to explain, but we're using two Munkustraps in our production... it sounds weird, but it works!) Cosette - Jellylorum Fantine - Demeter Everyone else, pretty much stepped up from the ensemble last year to bigger parts such as Skimbleshanks and Gus the theatre cat and etc... |
||||
Ep-Griz-Reno |
Who is your eponine playing?? Cause it would pretty much be the coolest thing ever if she played Grizabella...cause I played epppp and then grizabella for our 15 min piece....((and i'm auditioning for the full-*see bulletin* haha))
candleshoe |
Actually, a girl from the chorus last year stepped up to play Grizabella! She's amazing in the role! We open tonight, so wish us luck!

My God. Horrible. |

Did you say something about cats? have you already done it, are are you doing it next?
oh, and all of those performances were top class. I was a bit dissapointed at only seeing a small bit of each song, but it was good seeing all of them being performed. I know this has already been asked, but are there vids of individual songs? I notice you use different camera angles and different shots, etc. Do you have all of this footage, unedited/just edited as these montagues? |
||||
candleshoe |
We actually just finsihed doing it. We sold out all five shows. The audience loved it! A lot of people enjoyed the way we did it, since it wasn't in the typical setting, but in a construction site. I'll post pictures of the show on the CATS forum, so keep checking!
candleshoe |
I have the entire show on a DVD that I ripped onto my computer. Are there any particular scenes that you'd be interested in seeing? |

Very nice. It looks amazing! I would love to do Les Miz SE with my youth community theatre, but we don't have enough guys... and they're rather cheap.
SapphireNight |
Wow, the whole show on DVD, thats great for you!
I quite liked your Thenardier, the manic quality in his moves and voice. Very well cast to lighten up the musical. Any chance I can see all of Master of the House, and a bit more of the scene involving the Thenardiers in Begger at the Feast, if there is anything more? Thank you so much. |

Here's "In My Life - A Heart Full of Love". Please don't share this anywhere else, I have it set to private so that only certain people who have the link can view it! Thanks! And I'll try to get the others done soon as possible!

The 'In my life - A heart full of love' video isn't working for me, it says:
This is a private video. If you have been sent this video, please make sure you accept the sender's friend request =//. |

I'm having the same problem... |
||||
SapphireNight |
Hey
I got the same message. I hope you dont mind me sending you a 'friend' invite, i think that will sort out the problem my end. Thanks for doing this, and i have to say, thanks for being so fast! |
||||
SapphireNight |
hmm, thats weird. am i right in thinking youve accepted my 'friend' request (and thanks if you have)?
Maybe it only works the other way round? try sending me a message with this clip attached, i dont know. I dont know youtube very well at all. |
||||
candleshoe07 |
I'm sorry about this, I didn't know that you had to be a friend to view the video! Would it help if I just made it public instead of private?
EDIT: I am uploading the video in Photobucket, and you can view from there, so that it's not for everyone to see on YouTube! I'll post it ASAP! |
||||
Robin Hood |
If you make it public I won't share it with anyone . . . or can you just upload it on YouSendit? That would be better. Thanks!
God bless, ~Ruth |

Hopefully, this is easier to view than the YouTube link! Enjoy and tell me if something is wrong with the link!

Wow, that seems like a great production! Both Thenardier's are really, really good. I didn't really like the beginning of Master of the House with his breathy voice and all, but the rest was good.. especially with Mme. Thenardier. I don't mean to be critical, but the Cosette sounds a little out of breath in In My Life and doesn't seem to hold the notes strongly enough. Eponine seems to be a really good actress, but her voice isn't the best I've heard. Marius has got a good voice. Other than the cast, the set is really good! Especially the lighting.
candleshoe |
Thanks for your comments! And I understand what you're saying about Cosette. She wasn't very consistant with her performances, some nights she hit the notes really good and others weren't as strong, but I still think she did a decent job! And the lighting designer is amazing! His design for 'Cats' was amazing as well!
Robin Hood |
Thanks so much for the vid! It was awsome, but it stops half way through AHFOL. Just before my favorite part too . . . . Is it cut there on purpose, or is it just my computer?
If you could make it availible for download that would be great . . . but I'll understand if you don't want to. Thanks again! God bless, ~Ruth |
||||
digitalxdoll |
it says the file no longer exists =/
candleshoe |
I know, I deleted it to make a newer one that doesn't cut off AHFOL! It will be posted shortly!
