LES MIS TOUR TO CLOSE

http://www.playbill.com/news/article/98400.html

This sucks! I only saw les mis for my first time this fall... and I'm definately too young to fly out to New York and London to see the show again (though I'd like to badly Laughing )*sigh*

Do you think they will remount another tour/broadway revival in the years to come, say, 20 years at the most? I cant imagine les mis disappearing, It's such a wonderful show and it would be a shame to see it disappear (professional productions of course.). Any thoughts?

I know this is gonna sound like a very stupid question but oh well it's something I want to know and I'm still new to the whole broadway world. Will Les Miz still play on Broadway even after it's done touring? I have heard several statements from different threads, other forums and friends that have made me totally confused on this point.

The revival is playing on Broadway this fall.

So, yes, Les Mis is going to play on Broadway.

Unless this revival is just the tour, I thought it wasn't the tour and a full revival.

Thnx.

The revival will be using the tour's costume and sets, since the ones that closed Broadway were shipped to the Berlin production.

However, the cast may or may not be the same as the current tour cast.

Regardless of who's in the cast or what hydraulics are on stage, the production will still qualify for the Tony's definition of a revival.

It'll be the same season as 'A Chrous Line' though won't it?
Two near-reproduction revivals. Isn't The Wiz supposed to be happening as well sometime?

Ok just to add more confusion.. sorry.. didn't I read somewhere that the Broadway revival was only for 6 months?

Yep, it's a limited engagement.

No; A Chorus Line will be in San Francisco for its pre-Broadway engagement around that time. (And it may or may not be "near-reproduction.")

The Wiz does not have a date set yet.

Go to the right-hand column on http://broadwaystars.com -- you can see a list of all the shows confirmed and rumored to open in the near future.

I thought it was in San Francisco in July through to September and opening at the Schoenfeld on October 5th with 'Les Mis' opening on the 21st of the same month?

Speculation seems to be that it'll be closer to near-reproduction. Numerous members of the original creative team are coming back and it's been reported that "Wagner will recreate the bare-stage-and-mirrors set that characterized the original" and Baayork Lee is involved who can supposedly reproduce exactly Bennett's original choreography. Perhaps they will come up with something more original, but I've not got the impression that much will be, except rumours about 'Music and the Mirror' being tailored more to Charlotte dAmboise possibly.

Interesting; I really thought ACL was later than that:

Still, it won't be eligible for this Tonys, but you're right; it'll be in the same category as Les Miz. Not that I think Les Miz SHOULD be nominated, honestly.
