Les Miserables Fan Soundtrack Project

Hey folks!

I know alot of people here are singers...and so I figure you might appreciate this! I am 'producing/directing' a Les Miserables fan soundtrack, which is all online. We are recording the entire soundtrack, but we are still looking for several characters. Eponine, Marius, Cosette, Valjean, Young Cosette and Madame Thenardier have all been cast, but we're still looking for everyone else, plus ensemble. So please, if you are interested, take a look?

(PS: We're also looking for alot of instrumental tracks, if anyone has them and is willing to share!)

It has been tried here before. Good luck with it, it never got off the ground properly here. Even the One Day More from here has ground to a halt.

I think mine will get somewhere, hopefully. Smile It has it's own website, which makes the project alot more organized. We have several roles casted already, and a few songs done/in the works. So its not at a standstill for sure. Very Happy
Quique

I'm still planning one of my own but it's gonna have to wait even longer now as I'm busy with school and work.

Mine is going to be called - "The Complete Fanatic Recording," hehe.

Good luck!
Lazarus (Adam G)

I could lend a hand if you like.

I've just re-read my post and I sound really negative. I *do* wish you luck with it and look forward to hearing it when it's finished.

Thank you. We appreciate it. Smile
Amber

I just signed up and submitted an audition clip.

*fingers crossed!*
Cloudy This Morning

Ohhhh, now I want to do one of these! I wonder if I could get enough people to do it in Czech or Spanish...or even Japanese.

Bah, probably not. Crying or Very sad
Amber

If you did one in Italian, I'd be all for it.

Because that's the only foreign (to me) language I can sing in, really.

Has Les Mis even been done in Italian? It seems not. That's stupid.

Sure you wouldn't consider Czech or Spanish? Or Japanese? Or German? Those are really the only ones you can hear decently enough to get the lyrics to the whole show.
Amber

If I can learn to pronounce the words, I'd totally sing it. I'm always up for a challenge!
Mademoiselle Lanoire

Then go for Spanish or Japanese, since the pronunciation is fairly simple to learn. (And steer clear of Czech.)

Oops. *has already set on all of them*

Wow, I hope girl-whose-name-I-cannot-remember won't be mad at me for starting on of my own sountrack things. I just want to do it in different languages. ;__; I've got a Japanese Cosette and an English Valjean already. Who else wants to do Japanese or Spanish or Czech or German? I'll do the whole damn show myself if I have to.
happyguava

I'll be in it.

REALLY?? ;__;

Sweet.

I don't mind I guess. I mean, so many people try to do stuff like this, its hard to avoid duplicates...and you are doing it in other languages.. Very Happy Good luck with yours!

We still need Thenardier auditions! And Gavroche, Fantine, Javert and Enjolras (and the school boys and Thenardier's gang) so please audition!
Jekkienumber24601

I'd try out for Enjolras, but Do You Hear the People Sing should not be his audition song.

Why not? That's one of his biggest numbers. It's very important that I know whoever tries out for that role can sing that song.

It's very basic. Enolras is a tenor or high baritone. The end of red and black (they will come when we call) or his segment in One Day More should be his audition song. You can't tell if a person could sing the part, by having do you hear the people sing as an audition.

Agreed, the Javert's audition peice didnt show of his range or ability at all, "Cloudy This Morning's" Soundtrack picked better audition peices.

Eeeeek, don't bring me into this! *is afraid of confrontation*
kitty17794

I picked songs I wanted to hear my auditionees sing. To each their own. I am the one 'directing' this project, after all. Smile Cloudy can run her project her way, I'm running mine my way.

I did not post here to get into fights or have people talk down to me about the project or how I'm running it. I was simply being kind in sharing the link with fellow Les Mis fans so they could get in on the fun as well. That's all. So please don't tell me what songs I should have people audition with or how to run the project. Thanks.
Jordan

This is cool. Now, if Aimee wants to come and visit me in my flat and play around I'm sure we could cut you a good Thenardier and Madame Thenardier *coughHINTcough* Laughing

You self-scentered epybopper! I am not being in the project because you want to have your pretty voice (becha it's not pretty!) sing the role of Eponine! Now I am going to put out a good project with better audition pieces! Plus, I have way more recording experience than you! Using a wimpy free program that doesn't even work! Heck, I will use Sonar at Jack Straw productions if I have to!
That's how mad I am at you!
eponine5

Um, I'm really slow at catching sarcasm and stuff like that over the internet... Is that a joke Eponinelover? Because I don't find it funny and I don't think your attitude would be appreciated here, and I doubt your view reflects what everyone else thinks. Correct me if I'm wrong and if I just missed the point of your post Smile . Re-read your own post and see what you think...
kitty17794

^ Thanks, and I agree. Confused

Anyway. We're still accepting auditions, so please come and join in on the fun. Very Happy
Aimee

Please keep this thread friendly, thank you.

GB, you want me to play Madam T to your Thenardier? What an invite....
eponinelover

I'm very sorry, to everyone. I just didn't think anything was fair about the project. Now because of the changes, I will try to go whith it.

Aimee

lol, that in itself is quite something. Laughing
kitty17794

We need more guys to audition. Come on guys...I know you're out there. The girls were brave enough to audition... Wink
Cloudy This Morning

Bah! You think YOU'RE hurting for guys? It's hard enough to find a guy to sing in English! Where the bloody do you find one who thinks it'll be cool to sing in Czech? x_x
Quique

OK, ok...I'll join in, lol.

I recently recordrd myself singing the ending of "In My Life" (Marius' and Eponine's part) and I'd like to use that as my audition piece, if that's possible?
Cloudy This Morning

.....any interest in reprising that role in Spanish?
Quique

Sure, why not? Since I'm fluent in Spanish. =)

That was posted days before you posted that question. Auditions for main characters are now closed. Sorry. Smile Minor role auditions are still open, however.

Nothing yet. Auditions are closed and I'm still working on my list (having problems choosing for one character) though hopefully I'll have the list posted tonight or sometime this week. Very Happy Sorry for the wait...
The Pirate King

For everyone who didn't get an email or such, all major roles have been cast and are on the site.
Aimee

OH wow!! Very Happy How exciting!! I got Fantine!! Yipppeeeee!!!!
Thank you!!

What fun!!

Can't wait to get going!
kitty17794

Welcome. You deserved it. Very Happy

We are now casting for students, gang members, and other ensemble/chorus parts. Please audition! Smile
kozafluitmusique

I think I saw something about this on LJ...or something like it!

I would love to do this if I could. Good luck yet again!
kitty17794

Thank you. Very Happy

We are STILL looking to cast the Amis students, Thenardier's gang, and more. PLEASE audition, or at least spread the word to your friends.
kitty17794

I'm going to bump and copy a news bulletin from our site to here... Very Happy Because it really is important that we finish casting.

Quote:
Alright...so there are alot of roles we need to fill before we have our entire cast...we need convicts, students, beggers, prostitutes, gang members, soldiers...the list just goes on and on!

And A LOT of guys are needed.

So if you know any guys who sing and love Les Mis, please please please direct them here? Also, to you guys who auditioned before for other roles but maybe did not receive them...PLEASE, audition again for something else? Smile (And even if you did get a role already...why not pick something 'non-conflicting' up as well?) There are plenty of great roles still available, such as Montparnasse, Grantaire, Bamatabois, the National Guardsman, the Foreman...the list goes on and on and on!

And to the ladies...there are plenty of roles left open for you, too! These include the Factory Girl, Madeleine, the Hag, as well as the soloist protitutes from 'Lovely Ladies' and the women from 'Turning'.

We really need these roles filled so we can work on more songs. (Example, we need the students to work on ABC Cafe/Do You Hear The People Sing, and we need Thenardier's Gang for Attack On Rue Plumet, etc) So pleeeeeeease, don't hestiate to audition. Do it as soon as possible!

To those who have roles already, but want to pick something else up...just make sure it's not a conflicting role. For example, don't play Enjolras and be a student as well...you might find yourself singing to yourself in one of the songs. Don't play Thenardier and one of the gang members...same issue. Try to mix it up!

And feel free to audition for more than one role! If you play the Factory Girl, you are more than welcome to play Madeleine, or if you play Bamatabois, you may play a student or gang member, etc etc. Just audition for whatever you want to!

Just please do it soon? Smile
kozafluitmusique

*sigh* Some day...

Why can't you do it, again? Smile

We're desperately looking for Amis boys and Thenardier's gang...as well as the Factory Girl, the Foreman, etc. PLEASE, if you can sing...help us out! Lend your voice! Very Happy
EponineBarker

You don't have to have a lot of vocal experience or training do ya?

I mean, does it have to be really good? Like professional? To play a supporting role?

No, you don't have to be professional. Many of our featured cast members are NOT professional...many of us are still in high school and college! Very Happy Please, come and try out!
EponineBarker

Thank you! I just posted one yesterday, under the name Enjolras@the Barricade.

I hope it's alright!

I don't have a mic where I am now, but if I get to one anytime soon I'll definitely audition.

That would be great. Very Happy You could find a cheap mic at like, Walmart or something, if you don't own one. I got my first one for like, $5. It lasted a looong time.
ilovebway

May I audition for some sort of ensemble/small role?
...I haven't had professional vocal training to be honest though.

EDIT - I applied on your fan soundtrack page!

I'm a pretty big Les Mis fan, and this sounds like a neat project. I'd definitely love to contribute in some way. I'm not sure how qualified I am for this type of thing: I sing and play keyboards, synths and occasional guitar in an Orange County-based synthpop outfit, but have very limited theatre experience. My expertise is electronic music, but I have experience with mixing, mastering and production. Let me know if you think I could be of assistance in some way, and I'll gladly show you some of my work.

I'm gonna work on some more of Marius' songs this week.
kitty17794

krisavalon - We would LOVE your assistance with mixing and mastering, that would be fantastic! Smile And anything else music related. Most of us on the board are singers, so the music and production stuff is something we're lacking on. Lol.

Fantine - This started as a project of 'lets record just a few songs' with one or two of my friends. Then we decided to make it a full-blown project. I already had recordings done as Eponine, so I kept the role. Simple as that.

mastachen - Take a look at our cast list here to see what's available. Smile http://z8.invisionfree.com/mizfantrack/index.php?showtopic=1

actor - Great! Can't wait to hear them. Very Happy (Also, I sent you a PM on the board, including my half of "Last Night Of The World" that we were working on!)

do we still have to audition? What I was planning on doing was singing lines or songs from various parts and then sending them to you to see which you like best. Oh, and what part does Madeleine have in the show? Isn't that Valjean? Maybe I'm not as familiar with Les Mis as I think I am.
Fantine

Madeleine is the prostitute in Look Down.
