London Miz clips

Please don't blast me for this.

Does anyone have clips of Joanna Ampil as Eponine. Or her as Fantine, or any other clips of various Eponine's from the London casts?

You can PM me if you wish. I have stuff to trade if you like. Thanks!
Sairin

PMing you. Smile
Moci

If it's Jo Ampil or anyone interesting can you PM me too?
javertsw

Me too.
I love Jo Ampil (and she's leaving!)
Sairin

Tell you what, I will have a go with Yousendit and try to get it up here.

Joanna Ampil as Eponine, July '01. Edit: this has now been tested and works fine for me.

Note: this is a .m4a file. If you can't play this, you need to download iTunes.

Joanna Ampil as Fantine, can't remember the date but it must be fairly recent, 2003 or 2004 I think. This is an .mp3 file.

Any other requests, ask away and I'll see what I've got. Smile

Carmen Cusack, my favourite Fantine EVER.
Meliara

Carmen is my favorite Fantine too. Smile I wish I could see her perform in person. I think she's on the US tour right now.

She hasn't been on the US tour since the summer of 2002.
Sairin

Yeah, there's been no news on her for almost a year sadly.
Moci

Is there anyway that the Jo Ampil Eponine clip could be in a different format? My computer hates itunes.
piscesmoni

Woot. Cool Alanna, do you have stuff from Sophia, Lydia, Jon, or Oliver?
Sairin

Currently nothing on those four, will let you know if I turn anything up.

I will also do Ampil/Eponine in mp3. Smile

But for now I have the following:

Julia Mller - In My Life

One Day More - Current London cast

Valjean = Sean Kingsley
Javert = EDIT: Mark Dickinson, NOT McCarthy, I was wrong
Fantine = Joanna Ampil
Marius = Gary Tushaw
Cosette = Julia Mller
Eponine = Gemma Wardle
Enjolras = Ramin Karimloo
Thnardier = Stephen Tate
Mme. Thnardier = Katy Secombe
Piece of Crap II

MM sounds alot like Robert Hunt.
Sairin

You mean that Mark Dickinson sounds a lot like Robert Hunt *see edit*.

I have no Robert Hunt. *gives meaningful look*
Sairin

Red And Black - Oliver Thornton, 2003 London Cast

One Day More - London 2003 Cast

Haven't checked, but this *should* be:

Valjean: Jeff Leyton
Javert: Mike McCarthy
(Fantine: Jo Ampil)
Cosette: Lydia Griffiths
Marius: Jon Lee
Eponine: Sophia Ragavelas
Enjolras: Oliver Thornton
Thnardier: Stephen Tate
Mme. Thnardier: Katy Secombe
Piece of Crap II

Aww dang, isn't that the guy who is supposed to sound like Allam?

Jeff Leyton really rules!!

I actually like MM's voice...but I can't stand how he's pronouncing "s" like "sh".
Sairin

Mark Dickinson is, I think, supposed to sound a *bit* like Allam. That is more his interpretation (he is definitely not from teh school of Quast like McCarthy), but I don't think he sounds that much like Allam vocally.
Meliara

Thanks Sairin! Wow.
Sairin

Hold onto your hats, I just got a bit more wonderful. Wink

Sophia Ragavelas and Jon Lee - A Little Fall Of Rain

It's a bit quiet, so you'll have to turn it up.

Joanna Ampil - On My Own, cuz this I originally promised. Now mp3, for those of you who don't like m4a.

And of course, my clip montage would not be complete without the following. This blows roofs of houses and makes me cry to listen to it, so see what you've got to look forward to. Wink It is, of course:

John Owen-Jones - Bring Him Home
Fantine

Thanks for the Sophia and Jon one Smile
Meliara

Yeeeess! Thanks very much. Do you have a picture of John Owen Jones as Valjean? I keep hearing about him but didn't get to see him perform.

Moci

Thanks Sairin!

You don't happen to have Jon Lee & Sophia Ragavelas' 'Eponine's Errand' do you? I used to, but accidently deleted it. Sad
Sairin

Thanks TVAW. Very Happy

I want to hear what everyone thinks of JOJ. As for pictures, check out johnowenjones.com and there are a few there (he played other roles before Valjean, including Grantaire and u/s Enjolras).

Fraid not Moci, I don't have a complete of that cast. I'll let you know if I turn anything up. Smile
Moci

OK, thanks. Very Happy

Anyone else? I know it was on LondonLesMis.co.uk for a while.
Fantine

Nope... But I do have the whole current cast. With the understudies for Mme Thenardier, Valjean and Marius.
Sairin

GODWIN!!

*goes away*
piscesmoni

Uh...you're fabulous, Sairin! No less. Very Happy
Sairin

I am. Now people, what do you think of the JOJmeister?!
Moci

Sairin wrote:

He's good. I prefer the clips that I've heard of him as Phantom and obviously, he's not Jeff Leyton, but he does sound great!

I just hope I'll be able to see him.
liss

Jeff Leyton rocks! I met him once, when the cast of our Les Mis production saw it at Queens ages ago...we met him backstage....he's so friendly as well! Smile

Liss xxx
Sairin

I agree, he hasn't got the 'Valjean sound' we associate with Colm et al., and the first time I was like 'oohkay better Phantom'. But vocally he's more than equipped for the role, and his acting really measures up as well.

Plus, it's a chance for the non-phans to experience his greatness. Wink
Moci

Sairin wrote:

Or actually see him instead of 'The Complete Bootlegged JOJ'. I think we've all heard him as Valjean by now Wink
Sairin

And so you should. Can never have too much JOJ. Wink
Piece of Crap II

Well thanks for all these...

The current London Cast sounds TIGHT on One Day More it makes me all tingly and all I need is a cheeseburger now and I'd be great.
Moci

The way Gary Tushaw says 'dare' makes me laugh when listening to 'One Day More'. I don't know why.
Sairin

It's because he's a very silly boy.

I will try and dig out his Every Day, as that's the only bit of his performance I actually liked...
piscesmoni

Um, I completely love Joanna Ampil after I heard those two clips. Sophia didn't impress me TOO much; I think she is good, but her ALFOR was rather choppy and it got a bit annoying after a while. Rolling Eyes Thanks again, Sairin! Cool
Sairin

Woot. Joanna is very good, there are a couple of bits that prevent her from being a personal favourite, but overall she's extremely strong in the role. Sophia sounded pretty much like every other Eponine, and it's not a character I care for anyway.

Yeah something about how she says "pretending" really quickly...
Meliara

Joanna's "pretending" kicks major ass
Moci

I prefer Jo as Fantine to her Eponine (although, if you have her 'A Little Fall of Rain with Niklas Andersson too Wink )
Sairin

Sadly not. It would be a good one to find though, I've never heard the chap...

Yeah, that 'pretending' gets on my nerves.
Moci

I used to have his ECAET. But it got lost when my computer went weird. Sad
javertsw

I think I prefer her as Fantine, although I can't really judge from just one clip of her.
Joanna is just amazing whatever she does.

Meliara

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

for the final One Day More performance. That is one of the greatest things! Too bad that person sitting in front of the camera decided to get all squirmy right as Eponine was singing, grrr. But other than that, Fabu!

(heehee. You wouldn't happen to have any more vid's would you? Laughing Laughing Laughing )

Video......

Yeah, thanks for that. You made my decade with that video, hehehe!

Do you happen to have the final Broadway performance's "Finale," "At the End of the Day" or "On My Own"? I would die happy if you could share those, especially one of the final "Finale." Thanks again! Very Happy

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU LOTS! Very Happy

Now, why didn't she always do "On My Own" like that? I saw her twice as Eponine and was horrorfied to see she was an exact clone of Lea on the 10th Anniversary Concert. Here, she actually was pretty good. I'm sure the fact that it was the final performance had a lot to do with it, but even so, she was pretty darn good here.

Thanks again! That made my quarter century......swoon.......*dies.*

Well, yeah...she was a tad bit crybaby there, but she was still better than when I saw her on tour and on Broadway. I kept expecting her to tear off her mask and reveal it's really Lea up there. She even had that "I know I'm on stage and a lot of people are watching me" look, that Lea had throughout the concert. One thing Diana did, that got on my nerves, was the constant content look upon her face. She looked as if she were about to start singing the national anthem.

She still has smiling/smirking problems in this clip, but at least she seems a bit more focused than when I saw her.
Chris1

Glad not only I was annoyed by that, at the end she looked as though she wanted to burst out laughing.

I was annoyed by that every time I saw her as Eponine. Probably around a dozen times.

If you're referring to the final Broadway performance, don't believe that was ever videotaped. At least not in its entirety.

Showing off. And besides, it was the last performance -- what were they going to do, fire her?

As for the singer, well, i didn't like her that much. As said above, she has smiling/smirking problem, and that "Known" was held as TVAW said just to show off.

I know i am ignorant in notes, and what should be held, and what shouldn't, but that was blatant showing off.

I don't know how she looked from little bit of distance, but this close up camera showed her doing some edgy movments.

Sorry, but not one to be remembered for me.

Yeah, if you think she is bad there, you can only imagine how bad she was during regular performances. Well, to me at least, she was much worse on tour and on Broadway when I saw her. I felt absolutely nothing for her Eponine.

I can offer you Godwin and McCarthy, or Kingsley and Dickinson...?
Tania

I just watched the Diana Kaarina and although she sang OMW beautifully that "known" note was RIDICULOUS. Showing off, indeed. Yeah it might've been the last performence but did she really need to do that? I don't think so. I kept wondering when she was going to get on with the rest of the song already. And her facial expressions kind of spoilt it, too. She looked so damn smug and far too happy, like she was high or something.
