Me singing I Dreamed a Dreamhttp://s14.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=111Y4K3FNTZHA3TB5UI8EZ3H4JBetter cover your ears. Beware of the accent. I'm not much of a belter. I don't like the vibrato on 'night' plus a couple of other things. Still this is definitely one of my better IDAD's. Burn or cheer. |

i think the accent makes for a nice interpritation. I can see what you mean about 'night' as well. As for the 'belting' i really wouldnt worry about that, it still has the emotion and all that Jazz that you look for in I dreamed a dream.
My main advice would be to try and sing the 'shame' scale a bit smoother, personally i found that a bit too 'jumpy' (i dont know the technical music term for that to be honest!) but apart from that, i like it as an interpritation, esp. the 'hell im living' that felt emotional! thanks for sharing ma huni! |

Heehee thanks.
I wasn't completely satisfied with the 'shame' scale myself either. There is a pause between the first and the second one which really shouldn't be there. I usually do this better. |

Believe my it's alot better than anything i could do...sorry...thats not much of a compliment to be honest! |

You have such a beautiful voice!! In my production fantine was much more of an actor than a singer and her voice was really scratchy. Your voice suits the song perfectly and I wish you were my mum (in the prod.) instead of the fantine I had..

You are fantastic.
You sound a little like the Fantine I saw on tour, but less throaty and forceful. You sing it like you're singing On My Own, and that works amazingly for it. I can see why you don't think of yourself as a belter, but that's good, it's hard. |

That really is lovely. The best song in the world sung by a beauty. |

Thanks you guys
Yes, belting is so hard! Being more of a lyrical soprano myself, I don't really see how I could possibly belt all that stuff. My teacher is trying to teach me though... Very carefully. I'd rather learn how to hit those High C's though |

Running commentary, as in, I'm listening to it as I type, so pardon if it's a bit rambly.
Turn off the echo, or at least turn it down. It makes it sound like you're faking it. I don't quite like how you started out the first couple lines, but when you faded in to the first "I dreamed a dream...", it got quite nice. You have a very pretty voice. I mean, beautiful...but I'm picky about singers being able to use emotion. You're kind of "bored" sounding, like you're just singing a pop ballad. I don't like that. The accent is a bit distracting, but not horribly. Still, you might want to practice that a bit, then redo it. I kinda like the "shame" scale. I know you said you're not a belter, which is fine, but (oh GOD I know I sound like a total bitch, but I'm not, really) then you should work on being a bit more emotive. Honestly, I didn't feel the emotions I normally feel during this song...I was bored. It sounded like a waste of a potentially breath-taking version. Practice a bit, do some acting during it, and you'll probably be one of my favorite Fantines. PS: Belting really IS a bitch, ain't it? |

I have no idea how to work on my accent... It is terrible but I can't really hear it myself... I know that I tend to mix up the t's and d's and stuff...
I didn't really put much effort in acting this time. Actually I blankly sat in my chair while recording it And belting is indeed sucky |

you have such as pretty voice!!! i kinda like this song not being belt for a change. You have all of the emotion, and a beautiful voice you dont need to belt. i wish i knew how to record on my computer |

Fantine - I actually really like your accent! Mine is so boring...
You have a beautiful voice and it's a really good song for you! The lack of belting isn't a bad thing, it's different but that's a good thing. *claps* well done! |
