My Les Mis Review

I hope you will find time to read this all well i guess i will start with my character revuew. I saw the tour when it reached Deleware and my parents surprised me and took me to see the show. I was excited and thought of some notes while watching it. Sorry i may be a little tough but here it goes

Jean Valjean = David Micheal Felty

Okay, I was pretty dissapointed when i heard the i was not going to see Randal Keith and his understudy was going to perform, so I sat and waited and hoped to be amazed. At first, I was not impressed, I could not really feel Jean Valjean in Mr. Felty. I did not like his reindition of what have I done. He cut some of the long notes short and I was kind of dissapointed. *Note the only other pro i saw do this part was Colm Wilkenson and there is a lot to live up to with that.* But I have to say, he really picked up his game in the second act. Bring Him Home was amazing and I was very impressed. I thought that he deserved the role and did an excellent job picking up his game in Act. Overall : A-

Javert = Robert Hunt

A nice performence for Hunt. He had the authouty I was looking for and played the part extrememly well. My only problem with him was Javert's suicide. It was not overly exciting and I did not feel his pain the way i felt Phillip Quast's pain in the TAC, I was also dissapointed in the way the bridge went up. I normally enjoy when that happens but I probably could not have told that he jumped if i had not seen it before. But his voice was great and was a great Javert. Overall:A-

Marius = Adam Jacobs
A young performer, had a good voice and was luckily small for Valjean to carry threw the sewer, although it did look awkward. I enjoyed his reactions with Eponine (Melissa Lyons) but not really what he did with Cosette. He was not as drearyeyed as I had hoped. But he was great and played the part well. I was very excited to see a good Marius . Overall A

Eponine = Melissa Lyons Cosette = Leslie Henstock

They were both very good. Eponine was great reacting with Gavroche and made me feel sorry when she died. I felt sorry for her most of the story and I felt she played the role nice, but I am sorry, Rufelle Forever. Overall A-. Cosette was alright. She could sing but the part is jipped and very small as it should not be. I loved In my life though. So overall B+

Fantine = Joan Almedilla
WOW WOW WOW! Excellent, i felt so sorry for her when she was fired, died, the most believeable character in the whole play. She was so flexible too. She was dragged across the stage so many times and mistreated by Bambatios. WOW! Overall A+

Thenardiers= Norman Large and Jennifer Butt
These two were hilarious and my favorite characters. Butt was extremely cowardly and I thought nailed the chritian line in the Waltz. And when she looked in the sky when the silver fell out of her dress. I was laughing at her everytime she talked. And all of her awkward silences. Bravo A+++ Large was also humourous, expecially during "haggle for darking Cosette and the rest of the waltz. but my favorite innkeeper moment was when he said" Here comes a prince, there goes a jew, this ones a queer but what can you do" that guy was hystereical Overal A+++

REST

Bishop: Awesome, was great
Enjorlas: Pretty good, was noticable
Grantiere: Hilarious
Bridgette: Was not that impressed, a little weak
Foreman: really good
Lovely LadieS: Nice!
Bamatabois: Was iffy
Gavroche: Got better as play went on

Any questions just ask
Fantine

Fab review. Smile Thanks for that.

[I am not sure who Bridgette is either.]

Isn't she the factory girl who gets Fantine fired?
Aimee

She's only ever listed in UK programmes as factory girl. But maybe?? Question

It's the same way in the US, too.

Then again, consider that the original poster spelled half the cast members' names wrong when she had easy access to reference material.

I'm usually very gentle about spelling because I know the names are French and present a problem for some people, but...Bambaois? Enjorlas?

I've seen her "named" before, but it was never Bridgette.
Fantine

I made a joke. Obviously the name is spelled wrong and it's meant to be Brujon, Babet or something like that... Indeed as TVAW says, it's not the only name spelled wrong.

I'm not intending on harassing the original poster or whatever.

I felt I had to say that.

That's a pretty wide spelling margin for that particular name, though.

I thought of the factory girl before anyone here had posted the same thing -- some productions do give names to characters who don't actually have them in the script. Sometimes it's up to the actor. (Sutton Foster used to call her Lovely Ladies whore "Big Bird.")

If Rufelle4ever meant the factory girl, on the U.S. tour she is played by Candice Nicole. She is new to the role, she just joined the tour a few weeks ago in Kansas City(I believe). I think Rufele4ever might have meant Madeleine, who is played by Carrie Johnson. Here is a link to an updated U.S. tour cast:

No, I was refering to the factory girl, Bridgette. I read somewhere that was her real name so that was in my mind. So I can change it to factory girl if you want but i think her real name is Brigette. (i dont know, it was some quiz i took)

Re: My Les Mis Review

sorry to double post, buy I cant delete it, so, one thing I forgot to mention was that I was really impressed with Gavroche, a very strong vocal gavroche
Emperor of the Fiends

You forgot to correct "Grantiere".

Her "real name"? According to who? (Which dumb quizmaker can I blame?)

There isn't really a counterpart in the novel, and there hasn't been an actress in recent memory on the US tour even named Bridgette.

She probably picked it up from someone on the internet, maybe a fanfic. Fanfiction tends to brainwash even the wisest of fans, namely when said fanfiction is exceptionally tacky or rather well-written.

Hold on, you didn't see Norman Large. He left about a month ago. Unless you got an understudy, you saw Fabio Polanco, although Large is still in the brochure (but not the playbill).

Like the name Marcelin Enjolras, who, thanks to Mhari/Manon/Abby, has become fanon?

I actually fell for "Marcelin" for about two hours. Then I stopped and thought, "Wait, that wasn't in the novel...did they mention that in the musical?" God, I hate it when that shit happens.

Oh sorry, I thought it was him, that is what it said in the playbill, I will make sure to change it

And Snookums Javert?
Sairin

If there's one thing I wish more than anything, it is that Victor Hugo had never mentioned snuff.
