Classic Bowman style blooper tonight.

"Tell me my friend, what is your name?"

He seems to love swapping words.

Haha.
It is a pretty awesome blooper Very Happy

How on earth did he manage to do that??
I like. Smile

JonathanValjean during The Bargain:

"Let us not talk of bones, or...er... bones, or greed."
Smile

(Just a little line flub, of course, not a serious blooper)

I was Valjean in the student version in December and during the Barricade scene where Javert gets ahnded over to me:

Javert: Valjean, take cae. I'm warning you.
Valjean: Get out of here!

The girl playing Javert, looked at me blankly and exited. I stood there stunned as the music for Javert's part played.

Then, I turned to the audience:
"He was wrong. He always has been wrong.
I'm a man, no worse than any man.
He is free and there are no conditions, bargains or pettitions
There is nothing that I blame him for
He did his duty, nothing more."

Then I look offstage:
"If he wants to find me alive, he can do so at number 55 Rue Plumet."
To the audience,
"I know our paths will cross again."

To Enjoras:
"He's dead."

Wow. It must have been nerve-wrecking when you finally realised that you've sent the guy who's supposed to deliver his lines off stage... but you pulled it off pretty well. Well done!
jcstar

Yeah. Thankfully, I'm able to think on my feet during shows. Some people in the audience applauded after that.

The next night, the director came to me and said "Nice save last night."

In our version, our techs lowered the factory fly rather than the city streets fly during "One Day More", as seen here...

Awkward...

Flag Fail this afternoon! Sometime before the Final Battle it had disappeared from the top of the barricade, possibly dislodged in the roatation after Gavroche's death. So after Enjolras jumped down after Marius he had to climb back up, except there was NO FLAG for him to wave and he just got shot immediately! When the barricade revolved I had no idea whether the flag would be there or not, which would kind of have ruined the iconic moment, but fortunately Enjolras was lying on it as normal.
l'ivrogne transfigur

That doesn't sound good! Flag-waving is one of the best bits of the show! But the red material Deadjolras lies on isn't actually the flag - it's the same red material as they have in the cafe, there isn't actually a pole attached.
Fiwen9430

Oh, I always thought it was meant to be the flag d'oh! . Anyway, yeah, it was a bit of a shame but I did see it coming as soon as I realised the flag was gone.
riverdawn

It is *meant* to be the flag. It's just not the actual, physical flag.

Within the world of the musical itself (i.e the fictional world of the plot), Enjolras takes the red table cloth at the cafe, gives it the symbolic meaning of being the flag of the revolution, and this then becomes the flag on the barricade, the same flag which Enjolras waves and on which he lies dead.

But within the actual world of theater props, there is the red cloth used in the cafe, which is then also used as the cloth on which Enjolras lies dead (you can see it's the same one because, if you're sitting close enough, you can see it's quite stained. I assume this has to do with thousands of encounters with DeadJolras fake blood)...

and then, there is another prop which is the huge flag which is hung on a pole and which, if I'm not mistaken, makes its first actual appearance in One Day More.

So conceptually, yes, it is meant to be the flag. But in practicality, they are two different props.

One more from my schools play version:
Javert on no sleep:

I know you're here Javert. . Valjean. . . (He slinks offstage)
jcstar

We were using the piano backing track that MTI sends with the books for our production (horrble, but what are you gonna do?) and we got to "The Sewers" bit.

I was in the wings carrying Marius and waiting for the music to start. It didn't. The light cue came but no music. Marius was 11, I think. He became very heavy in my arms, so he jumped down (THUMP!) and put his arm around my neck and we went out that way. The music started.

We fell to the ground as "Dog Eat Dog" was played and then we got up and walked around the stage until Javert's cue. Javert was late. Music had to start again. Fog machine was turned on and Marius was right beside it.

As Javert and I had our final exchange, Marius started to have a coughing fit due to the fog/dry ice covering him.

"Look down, Javert, He's standing in his grave..." said I. I bent down and patted Marius' back to stop his coughing and lifted him up again, then we exited. Only thing is, when Javert and I looked down, we could barely see poor Marius on the stage... all we saw was white.

Not really a blooper but. . .

One night during notes Les Mis, Valjean and Javert were informed their fight (over my dead body) did not look realistic. Valjean needed to "hurt" Javert more, otherwise Javert staying down long enough to let Valjean escape wasn't realistic. Valjean was rather excited by this. "I can kick him while he's down?" He then proceeded to turn to Javert and yell, "YOU'RE GETTING GHETTO STOMPED."

Needless to say the entire time I was dead that night, I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing.

Oh, goodness, I totally don't remember where I was sitting - I've seen the show so many times in the past month. There's a decent change I was at BB8, but I can't be certain. Smile

Lucky you!!! I've only seen the show twice, with a year's gap in between (GRRRRR!!! I WISH I LIVED IN LONDON!!!) and my upcoming would-be visit planned for June fell through at the last minute so I don't know when I'll get to see it next Sad

If I ever live in London, I WILL see the show every week!!! lol

There was a time when I, too, joked about stuff like that. Wink

As for Bloopers, I believe I've heard HPJ mess up his entrance on the barricades at least four times, always being a bit early. Awkward.

I'm sure Martin Ball sang "Burst up your valises..." last night. And Mark Hedges, who was first traveller, looked straight at him and was this close to cracking up.
