London fan meet-up

Seeing as we have quite a lot of London fans here, I'm suggesting a fan meet-up to see a show together. A Saturday matinee would probably be the best for most of us... and we could try to get all six BB seats (if there are six of us willing to come) very early on.
I would definitely like to do this... and to fangirl and stagedoor and cheer at curtain call.
What do you guys think?
wtfchuck

I'd probably try to come, even though I've never actually seen Les Mis.
Elbow

I could possibly come along, as long as it's not in the next few weeks.
flying_pigs

I really want to come but I leave for university in three weeks! Unless it's nearer Christmas time?
Madeleine

I'm certainly up for that. Mr. Green

But I won't know for certain what I'm doing over the next few months until uni term starts again, in about a month.

If there are more than 6 people who want to come, we can always grab a few of the dress circle slips/conductor seats etc. as well.
aquirkofmatter

Oooh me me me! Definitely up for that one! Very Happy
KatyRoseLand

Count me in, of course! Very Happy
miraclemile

I'd love to come! Very Happy (And a definite yes to the Saturday matinee!)
Oli-Ol

I'd love to come, but it depends when it is.

Also, what are BB seats?

Front row, in line with the orchestra, 20!

And, of course, the perfect seats to stare, to maybe grab one of the leaflets George Miller throws into the air at "Lamarque is dead", to start standing ovations, to get smiled at and/or creeped out by actors and definitely the best seats to experience The Jump. Speaking of which... I'm reserving BB 20 for me. Please.
(shall we do the Mexican wave??? /silly)

Seeing as I'm in London, I can definitely go by the box office (I'm getting a ticket anyway today, I think)... Now, the thing is, we're already more than six and there might be even more willing to come... Maybe I'll just ask for which Saturday matinee performances all six BB seats are still available. Or we can do two different meet-ups, one within the next three weeks (for flying_pigs) and one in November (for Elbow) or something?!
Am willing to go both times Wink obviously.

By the way, is anyone going to see the birthday performance? Because I went by the box office, and all BB seats had been booked, so I got Dress Circle Slips (A35) which are also very, very nice (also definitely an option, as Madeleine said). But just wondering.

And I'm thinking... two meet-ups sound better than one meet-up. But I'm not sure how many BB seats might still be available for the next three Saturdays...

Laughing
I'm still so happy about having caught one of those! I've always wanted to read what was on them. Embarassed

Asking about availability at the box office sounds like a good idea, if it isn't too much trouble for you. From that, we could get some possible dates and people could say whether they could come or not. Then we could work out exactly how many seats we would need.

Thinking about it, we would be lucky to get all 6 unless we booked very far ahead, as regulars tend to book them for most Saturday matinees...
There are plenty of slip seats though, so we could always spread out a bit.

Two meet-ups does sound good, although I'm unlikely to be able to make one in the next 3 weeks, as I'll be looking at a 50 train fare. From the end of September it'll only be about 10 into London at the last minute. Mr. Green
flying_pigs

Actually, thinking about it I could probably do most Saturdays as I'll have a student rail card by then so that would make it cheaper!

It would be so good if we could get all of BB, how fun would that be?!
Eppie-Sue

I'm back from the box office Mr. Green and... the first Saturday where all six BB seats would still be available is 24 October. I'm going to see the matinee tomorrow (BB 20. no comment, please xD) and will then hopefully get to ask DT about his holiday dates (if Eponines_Hat hasn't already done that yesterday), too, seeing as some of us would probably angst a lot if he was off... and if there are six of us willing to go on the 24th, then I'm sure we could arrange something asap. It would be epic.
flying_pigs

Ooooo 24th would be good!
I've never sat on the BB20 side, reserving as well Very Happy
Eppie-Sue

there are definitely a few drawbacks re: the BB 20-22 seats, but they are all minuscule considering The Jump is right in front of you. Mr. Green I'm liking the 24th October idea very much, actually, but we should hurry a bit... I don't know for how long the seats will be available.
Elbow

I can do the 24th of October. I also don't mind spending a bit more on a seat in the stalls if there are six other people who want the BB seats, as long as I have advance warning so I can buy a good ticket.
miraclemile

24th is actually perfect, being half term and all, so I'm definitely in Smile
Eppie-Sue

Whoo. I'm loving this.
So it's definitely
flying-pigs
Elbow
miraclemile
me

+ probably aquirkofmatter, Madeleine and KatyRoseLand, wtfchuck and Oli-Ol

so that would already be nine of us. I'd have to ask about the Dress Circle Slips (the 20 ones are A2 and A35, apparently they don't sell A1 and A36 anymore. At least that's what that one lady at the box office told me)... and if Elbow is even fine with getting another seat in the Stalls (you'd think that 8 weeks in advance, the should still have some good ones) - which is really sweet of her - then it would just work out fine.

wtfchuck - if you have never seen the show, I'm definitely suggesting a Dress Circle Slip for you, because you'll actually get to see what's going on in certain scenes from up there (Runaway Cart, Wedding)...

so that would be six of us in BB, Elbow somewhere behind us in the Stalls, and two in the Dress Circle - if those seats are still available. I'm not sure about how we should get the tickets, I mean, I'm willing to buy at least the BB ones, but... hm. I'm a poor student. That would be 120 then... aaah. I mean, technically we could already book all the BB seats. It looks like six of us will be coming. And I'd certainly be willing to do that tomorrow when I'm at the Queen's anyway...

ETA: Okay. Technically, I could advance the 120 tomorrow or well within the next days, and you could each transfer 20 then (or, if you're in London anyway, we could try to meet up when you're seeing the show and you'd give me the cash, if you don't want to transfer it)...
But before I buy them, I'm going to need your covenant. This sounds way more formal then it should.

ETA II: xD Should we warn the performers beforehand?!

Don't give them chance to escape! Mr. Green
Madeleine

Unfortunately I can't do the 24th as I'm being dragged back home for that weekend to see my drama group's play. Rolling Eyes

There's a tiny chance I could get out of it but it's unlikely so you'd better count me out for now. Sad (if I do manage to get out of it I'll just get my own ticket elsewhere in the theatre, later on)
Eppie-Sue

Oh noes. Sad then we'll do an extra amazing small fan meet-up tomorrow, yes?! And we will certainly do another big one next year!

@miraclemile: Mr. Green I know most of the guys are fine with fangirling, but I don't want to scare them xD especially not DT. But I still think we should to the Mexican wave at the bows...
Madeleine

We certainly will! Mr. Green

Yeah, I'm sure there'll be plenty of other opportunities!
Orestes Fasting

I can probably do 24th October. I can't travel outside of France until I get some bureaucratic technicalities sorted out (residence permit in Paris requires an original copy of my birth certificate, the request for which is currently rotting in bureaucracy hell in Washington DC), but that should all be done by the end of September.
miraclemile

Okay, so I have a small problem Sad Apparently, I'm not allowed to go on my own, (seriously parents, seriously? I was going to go down on the train with a friend then let her go off with her cousins, then go back with her, so I wasn't on my own the whole journey, but apparently, this is not good enough...) so I am currently on a mad dash to find a friend willing to come along, so... I'm more a probably/doing everything in my power to sort this minor hitch, just for the moment.
Eppie-Sue

@Orestes: Aww, I hope that will be sorted out asap!

@miraclemile: Oh dear. D: but, but, we are your friends! naah, I can totally sympathise, my parents would probably have been like that, too... but will your friend be fine with the fangirling and all?! Wink

fingers crossed for you, girls.
Oli-Ol

I can't come either :'(

Partly protective parents (with good reason, as I live 3 hours away from London and don't technically know any of you)

Partly my next show is the week after that week and we have basically non-stop rehearsals

Partly I don't have any money as I'm saving every penny to perform in Edinburgh next year

Sad

not good.
Eppie-Sue

Sad

okay. Then we are down to...

definitely:
flying_pigs
Elbow
me

maybe:
miraclemile (possibly with friend)
aquirkofmatter
KatyRoseLand
wtfchuck
Orestes Fasting

ah well.
Catherine

Stick me down for maybe, as I'll probably have a job by then, and it'll only cost me 30 max for the whole day (hooray for free trains)
Coz my folks could come down with me, they could come and make sure you guys were y'know, genuine and all that (sorry, but y'know, parents), and then go off and do other stuff

It does sound awesome, so please pencil me in and I'll see about it.
aquirkofmatter

Yeh, that's cool, count me in - 24th sounds fine to me at the moment! (and if it isn't then I'll re-arrange.)

I tend to sit BB7/8, but I do quite like the other side and I'm not bothered really about where I sit. (If there's more than 6 I'd be quite happy to try a slip, I've not sat up there yet!)
KatyRoseLand

I'm definitely in, 24th is fine for me Smile
Eppie-Sue

definitely/most likely:
flying_pigs
Elbow
aquirkofmatter
KatyRoseLand
me

maybe:
miraclemile (possibly with friend)
wtfchuck
Orestes Fasting
Catherine

The Dress Circle Slips are actually really good. I mean, I've sat in A36 (which is now not being sold anymore, wtf) the second time I went, and you're basically slightly in front/above the stage and you can see everything except for a few entrances.
