Great pictures.
But (rant time)... why do so many School Edition productions have Eponine wear her effing overcoat in Act I?!
Do the production slides that MTI provides not show her without it or something? It makes her look less poor and waif-like than when she has "nothing but a blouse and a skirt cover[ing] her shivering, chilled nudity," but so many productions in the photos and Youtube clips I've seen have her wear it in both acts.
You don't suppose at this late date, you could persuade your two Eponines to only wear it in Act II, do you? Once again, though, great pictures.

^ I did not know that about Eponine, and it would be too late. Show is tomorrow

Nice costumes and lighting.
Eponine specifically wears the trenchcoat in act two in an effort to disguise herself as a boy so she could be near Marius at the barricade, and not be shooed away like Marius eventually does anyway.
It's true that the original coat design is sort of feminine looking. It almost wears like a dress. It doesn't help that many Eponines keep their long hair visible. Sutton Foster is the only actress I've seen in the role who bothered to tuck her hair under her cap during act two which helped make her appear a lot more boyish than most. It also helped make the overall stage picture of OMO more poignant as not only is she dwarfed by the set and her oversized men's coat, but her attempt at passing for a boy shows it was all premeditated carefully and takes what could easily be confused as some crush to something that warrants a dramatic moment such as OMO.
It's obvious to me that the director didn't bother to dig too deep and merely tried to copy what's seen in photos and video when I see a production with a trench coat-wearing act one Eponine!

OT: Are you saying that you've seen Eponines who didn't tuck up their hair at all in Act II? Granted, I don't suppose long hair on guys was terribly uncommon in the 1830s, but still. Every time I've seen the show (starting in 2001), she's tucked up her hair at the barricade and when delivering the letter, and only let it down for OMO (I suppose because we're hearing her inner self). Hasn't it always been that way?

I really don't think it is a big deal, its not going to change the story. And she does tuck in her hair in Act 2, so we do show the diffrence.

Eh, I wouldn't say it's a big deal either. But it is a detail that affects the general perception of the character and it speaks volumes as to the ignorance of the designer/director.
Simply put...Eponine is not supposed to wear a trench coat in act one. There is no reason why she'd wear one. What, is she cold? Is she a cross dresser, emo, a pervert, a flasher? XD
It's easier to just keep the coat off for act one. What's the big deal in that?
Keeping it on for act one not only makes no sense, but you throw out the subtle impact that it could have when she is seen wearing it in act 2. I guess you will have to cut the lyric "hey little boy what's this I see? God! Eponine the things you do." cause Marius is responding directly to her barricade boy get-up. He wouldn't pay attention to it if it were her everyday form of dress.
Might as well have Fantine wear her whore clothes during IDAD, I guess. I mean, it really isn't a big deal after all.
