Original Translation? Many sites dedicated to Les Mis list Siobhan Bracke as the show's original translator French>English translator, for example:"The English language version, with lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and additional material by James Fenton, was substantially expanded and reworked from a literal translation by Siobhan Bracke of the original Paris version...". Does anyone know who "Siobhan Bracke" is and whether copies of this literal translation are floating around somewhere or could be acquired? |

Re: Original Translation?
If it's a literal translation you're wanting- try here. It's not Siobhan Bracke's but if the plan was that she did a literal translation for whoever did the lyrics eventually to work from, the results would be fairly similar. |

Found these links by googling, and since it's an uncommon name I'd say chances are it's the same person.

I'd say that chances are greatly increased by the fact that she was working at the RSC at the same time that Les Mis was being developed by them. |

Re: Original Translation?
Just FYI, Mme Bahorel got her own webhosting after Caf Musain went down, so the translations are now here. Saves the trouble of digging through archive.org. |
