Pictures of current London cast?

After months of lurking and sometimes posting a small message I've decided to make a great come back and bomb you with threads.

Well, not really.

Must admit though, it's been awhile. I used to come here several times a day. Enough with the sentiment.

Are there absolutely NO pictures out there with the London cast? I have never heard anything about a new programme or whatever... And if there is one, can anyone scan it?
EponineBarker

The new B'way programme has pictures from the new London Cast I think, I'll have to take a look at mine again.
LesMisForever

Fantine...sorry i can't help with photos, but i am delighted that you decided to show up more frequently. Really missed you Very Happy
Fantine

Aww thank you Smile
College is almost over, then I have a looong summer break, so I should be here a lot more often.

No one seems to know the answer to my question. It's weird, it would be really weird if they were still using the old programme... First sign of a decreased interest in Les Miserables?
(not the fans, but the producers?)
eponine5

There are new programs. Les Mis at the Queens is as alive as ever. Well, actually, I'm not sure if there are new photos with Joanna Ampil (apart from the ones on the front of the theatre). I only have the program with Sophia Ragavelas, and I don't have a scanner so sorry if the quality's not so good -I had to take photos of the program. I hope they aren't too big...

The amazing John Owen-Jones:

Sophia Ragavelas:

Hans Peter Janssens (he doesn't always look this fish-like Confused ):

The Bargain:

Sabrina Aloueche:

One Day More! (again, sorry for the quality of this one):

Simon Bailey:

Chris Vincent -God, this guy's creepy!

Gina Beck (sorry, the first one wouldn't resize. I'm not sure why):

I can scan some pictures in if you would like?
EponineMNFF

Wow! That ALFOR looks amazing. That's a really good picture. *Very impressed*

I should probably know this, but wasn't Sophia Ragavelas just Eponine? Isn't there a bit of an age difference between Eponine and Fantine? O.o?

She hasn't been Eponine for a few years now.

And no, not significantly.
EponineMNFF

Oh that's so weird - it feels like yesterday people were talking about her. I've been in teh fandom longer than I thought!

Hans Peter Janssens looks remarkably like a fish in that first picture. Shocked
Eponine93

I don't really follow the London cast (I don't see the point, as I really doubt I'm going to London any time in the near future) so pardon my stupidity, but I've only seen a few pictures of Simon Bailey and I must say, in that one picture of him, he reminds me of Orlando Bloom...

Speaking of souveneir programs, does anyone know when the new ones for the Broadway production are coming out? I don't really care about the new replacements, Ben Davis aside, but I would definitely like to own glossy pics of Lea as Fantine.
Fantine

LOVING the pictures! Shame that some of them are a little blurry, but it is great to see them. Would you please scan them, flying_pigs?

Thank you so much!

(Sophia looks like such a young innocent Fantine... She would make a nice Cosette Wink)
Fantine

One more question: do you mind if I use them for icon making?
flying_pigs

If that icon question was directed at me then, sure go ahead Smile

I was scanning and then my scanner just completely died on me. I'll try and get it fixed and scan the rest in tonight. Are there any scenes you specifically want?

These are the 2 I scanned before the scanner broke:

Sorry for the size Smile
MrMarius

Here are some uploaded pics for you, will try and get some more....

There's a new brochure with Joanna as Fantine, but it seems the same as the one with Sophia except for the Fantine pics.
Fantine

I love the Marius x Cosette pics Smile If anyone has better scans of the wedding photo's.... I would love to have them!

Very Happy
Thank you!

Thanks for the pics! They're lovely.

Pardon my ignorance, but these scans all come from a brochure/booklet that the West End productions make of each cast, right? I mean, we don't get this in the states or for Broadway, do we? Also, would anybody have similar scans from the 2005-2006 cast? Mr. Green I have pictures from the official website of this cast, but I may be missing some that came from this booklet. Thanks!

I don't know about the original production, but I am staring at a Broadway revival souveniere program right now as I type this... I would scan the pictures but I have no scanner, which would make it kind of difficult...

Oh, sorry. To clarify, I meant the 2005-2006 West End cast. And, yeah, there are programs, but I've also heard about an extra scrapbook-esque thing that the West End productions do every year? Or am I just making up these things?

Thanks for the thought, anyway, 93!

Well, Les Mis London sells programmes (with no pictures) and souvenier brochures with lots of glossy pics.

I'll scan some in of the 2005-06 cast tomorrow, unless someone gets there before me!
Fantine

Those are so cute Very Happy Thank you so much!

Woo-hoo! I got that program last night! Just so you know, it was a fab show! BTW, in Fantine's Death, i realised they cut a verse out - WHY?
Quique

Ahhh. I hate you. Laughing

I yet to see the London production. Hopefully I'll save my pennies and see it sometime next year. That's currently the best production around, despite the Sinfonia thingy; at least they use the original orchestrations!
d'oh!
music is my life!!!

But you know in Fantine's Death? THere are 2 verses before Valjean comes in. It's meant to be "come to me cosette the light is fading. don't you see the evening star appearing? come to me and rest against my shoulder..." and then the next verse. In the 21st Anniversary |London version they didn't do the evening star line or the last line in the first verse. they included lines from the second verse instead so it was only one verse before Valjean comes in.... WHY?!?!?!
Quique

I believe that verse (as well as many others) was officially cut in order to save on orchestra overtime costs. Damn Cammack is all about money.
music is my life!!!

That's not fair! At least the performance was good!
eponine5

Are you going to post a review, music is my life? Smile Did you see the whole cast, or were there understudies?
MrMarius

Any recent reviews for the London cast???
Going to see the show again in june!! Very Happy

REVIEW!!!

Generally, it was FABULOUS! I was genuinely moved by the entire performance and everything was perfection!
As far as i know, it was the actual cast (Jon Lee was HOTHOTHOT!!).

I'll start with John-Owen Jones as JVJ. I needed to get used to his portrayel of the character but at "at the end of the day" I knew he was gonna be fab! Although he's the youngest actor to profssionally play JVJ, he somehow reminded me of Colm Wilkinson and his performance of "bring him home" in the TAC. The applause after BHH went on for about 5mins but he didn't show any breaking out of character. He completely lit up the stage and was very believeable in all parts of the show.

Hans Peter Janssens was not nearly as good a Javert as Quast but his rendition of "Stars" actually kept me awake (usually that's the most boring song EVER!!!) and he had my full attention from the Prologue all the way to Javert's Suicide which was acted particularly well, especially considering he was no more than a meter off the ground! Overall, a very honest, realistic portrayel, although i was expecting the lines:

"J: do you know what that means?
JVJ: Yes it means i'm free
J: no! ..."

to have some humour in them (the "no", like in the TAC)

Sophia Ragavelas's portrayel of Fantine truely touched me and her belting was fantastic. She also made me want to play Fantine in the future as she made the character the one most memorable to be, purely because of her performance! I really missed her after her dismissal but in the finale she was eerily ghostlike and magical, where other performances were not so powerful.

Chris Vincent as Thenardier - there were so many positive notes about this portrayal was to a very high standard. He completely broke the tension after Fantine's Death and was a true comic relief but at the same time quite evil. He and Tracie Bennett made a perfect team! I also loved his rendition of Dog Eats Dog and Beggar at the Feast. He portrayed the character of Thenardier perfectly with some brilliant original twists!

Tracie Bennett definately met the high standard of Thenardier and she and Vincent were a perfect pair. Bennett's comic timing was perfect and the portrayal was full of energy. I particularly enjoyed hearing the contrast in the tone of her voice between her first scene and "i used to dream that i would meet a prince...". Overall, her performance couldn't have been any better!

Marius is always the role for the "prince charming" of the cast and this time was no different! I loved his acting and his voice lay perfectly in the role. Jon Lee's rendition of ECaET moved me and was the best I've ever seen! He fit the role exactly how I would want Marius to be played. Well Done!

The first thing I'm going to say about Simon Bailey is how much he resembles Orlando Bloom from some angles. Other than that, Enjolras' death at the barricade was dramatic and realistic. He sang every note with the pertect amount of power and played the character honestly.

Gina Beck's portrayal of Cosette was innocent and she convinced me that she was in love with Marius - I know I would be! She made a fabulous transition from a young girl who knows little of her past to a young woman who has just witnessed the only "parent" she knew die in front of her and told everything about her past. Beck was always very strong in the singing, even on the higher notes! A very good performance. I look forward to see her on the West End again soon!

Sabrina Aloueche was very comfortable as Eponine but it seemed like she had recently got over a cold as she didn't belt as well as i thought she would. Her rendition of ALFOR truely moved me and her death was believable. Overall, a strong performance!

I don't know who was little cosette and gavroche but they were both so sweet. Gavroche even got a massive "ahh" from the audience when he was shot. Again, both werebelieveable and strong performances. I'd like to see them on the West End again when they are older!
flying_pigs

Did you go recently? As Fantine is Joanna Ampil, not Sophia.

I went yesterday for the matinee performance
it says on www.lesmis.com that it was sophia

Jo Ampil is definitely the current Fantine. The website hadn't changed this info since she took over from Sophie in March.
music is my life!!!

ok it was Jo, but she's now my favourite Fantine!

Glad you loved the show Music is my life!

Especially glad you thought JOJ was wonderful, as I am a huge fan of his. (seeing his performance got me into musical theatre).

Just so you know, JOJ was the youngest performer to portray JVJ when he played the role at age 26 or 25. He's now 36 and a father, which I'm sure has a lot to do with his interpretation.
music is my life!!!

Wow That's really interesting! Maybe that's why the performance moved me so much. i mean, usually when he takes cosette from the thenardiers i'm in stitches laughing but this time the performance made me think a bit more... hmmm..

Any particular reason why the two recorded English-language Kims in Miss Saigon took over the same role at almost the exactly same time?
flying_pigs

Coincidence I'd say.
Timmy_Wishes he was Quast

They're both amazingly talented?

Conspiracy.

Jo's current stint as Fantine is a "return" though. She's done it a year before in the West End.

Don't know why she returned to the role the same time as Lea Salonga took over in Broadway.
