Question that's been bugging me for a while

This seems like a really naive question to ask, but so far I only have the OBC recording of Les Mis (but I'm getting another one soon Very Happy ). Okay, who plays Young Cosette in the Original London Cast? I've been looking but can't find an answer.

Zoe Hart is on the cast recording, but there were three girls rotating in the role.

One of them - Jayne OMahony - returned to the show in 1997. She understudied Cosette and went on at least once.

Really? That must have been amazing for her, she must have felt that it was her part. I feel kind of sorry for the two original Young Cosettes and Gavroches who didn't get to be on the recording. Does anyone know how they decided which one would be on it? Did they just use the ones who performed on the opening night?

Does anyone know of any other Young Cosettes/Gavroches who returned to play an adult role on Les Miserables apart from Sabrina Aloueche?

BROADWAY
- Lea Michele (Eponine) (upcoming revival)
- Brandy Brown (Eponine)

US TOUR
- Raegan Kotz (Eponine)

LONDON
- Alicia Davies (was in the show with JOM in 1997 and understudied Eponine)
- Possibly Simon Bailey, the current London Enjolras.
There was a Gavroche named Simon Bailey in the London cast around 1995. He was also one of the flag Gavroches in the 10th Anniversary Concert.

BUDAPEST
- Dra Szinetr (Eponine)

It's strange that so many Young Cosettes went on to be Eponine.

That's kind of cool how former cast members come back...I guess as kids they must have really liked being in Les Mis, or else it was probably just coincidence.

I was wondering the same thing. It would make perfect sense if they did it that way. Just because the pairing was so random nobody could say it was unfair.

I'm lead to think this for one reason: In the Canadian cast recording of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" Mark Cassius Ferguson sung the role of Judah, but below the cast list it says "Edwin Louis Battle regularly performed the role of Judah" plus, it mentions the other two choirs used in the production other than the ones in the recording. So Mark (and the choir) was (were) probably on the recording because he (they) was in the openning night cast. This is probably how they determine the roles played by children in recordings.

I could imagine performing in Les Mis would be such an awesome experience for any child actor, that they wouldn't mind passing up an offer to perform in it again. I certainly wouldn't Wink

Speaking as a former Les Mis kid, it pays. After time trying to make it in theatre, the most important point is that it pays.

When did you play Gavroche? Was it London or one of the American theatres?
