QuestionK...I'm ridiculously broke lately and sort of panicking because the June 17th closing date for Broadway's Les Mis is coming up fast and I still have not booked my trip to see it.I recall previously mentioning about how I was glad it was extended to June, so that I may have more time to save for the trip. Well, it turns out the trip is going to cost a lot more than I expected: at least $1,000 for a 3-4 night stay. I mean, I have the money but things would just be a much easier for me if I could have a bit more time to save for it. So, my question is...do you think the show's run will extend beyond the current June 17th closing date? I read on Playbill that it will run "until at least Labor day." I think there's a good chance it will because why on earth would they hire all those replacements for only a month and a half? I think the originals would've stayed until the end of the run if it were to really close on June 17. If I have to go before June 17, it's no biggy. I can do it but it's a bit tight right now especially while also saving for a new car (which is looooong overdue. My "baby Honda" isn't a baby anymore, lol) and also saving for my trip to London early next year - something I've been putting off every year since 2002, grrr). |

I think it'll be around for the rest of the year. I remember looking at the broadway.com website, and noticing that group sales tickets were available until like, December of this year...I might have read that wrong, but thats what it looked like. And I really don't think they'd close a good thing. (Then again, look what they're doing to BATB...and they DID close Les Mis in the first place...who knows.) | ||

Wouldn't a quick call to the theatre get you the answer?
I'm asking becauseI don't know if it would. I'm sure here in the UK they'd tell us stuff like that on the phone. Good luck and don't leave it too late to book the tickets or you may be saving for nothing. As a suggestion, you could buy the tickets now and if the date does extend sell them on eBay at cost price and get your money back that way. |

It's my firm belief that Mr. Mac has always intended to make this "limited run" continue until kingdom come.
I've talked to stagehands who have confirmed this view and there is a comment in the program in Mackintosh's little blurb that says something like "And now this new production has opened on Broadway and will hopefully be able to run for a long time to come." So if I had to make a bet it would be on the revival hanging around at least for a couple of years. CM is just tricky that way |

Lea Salonga also mentions on her blog that her schedule for the show runs until Labor Day, so I guess that's your answer.
http://bigsis222.multiply.com/journal/item/63 I agree with Aimee about calling the theater, though. I'm also from L.A.-- take me with you to see the show! haha, jk. |

I think by making it seem like it was only a limited run, would make the fans go out and snap up the tickets more quickly. Then the more tickets being sold, the more reason to keep extending the run. Though I think it will go on for quite some time, I think the extensions will be announced only a bit at a time, so as to keep the demand for tickets up if people think its closing after a certain point.
Though what is Mr. Mac going to do now that we've all caught on to his little game? lol |
