soon i'm auditioning for the LMSE and i think i'm a mezzo/sop (i've been told i'm a sop but i can sing low e's and f's). i'm about 5ft4in, have dark blonde hair and i can belt upto a high g. who do you see me as?

Well, based on that description, I would say that you already kind of know that you are suited for Eponine. Or you would if you knew the show. If you don't know the show then you need to do some research. If you do know the show then you'll already know that Eponine sounds like a good character for you.

How comfortable are your low E-s and F-s? I'm not sure about the school edition, but I'm looking at the music for the real edition right now, and one of Eponine's solos, "A Little Fall of Rain" goes pretty much down there.

If you're a strong soprano, you're suited for Cosette. If you're a strong belter/mezzo and you're one of the younger people auditioning (like, if it was a high school production and you were a sophmore or junior) you'd make a great Eponine. If you have a more mature look and feel, you'd make a great Fantine.

Even if you don't get one of the the three "leads" (and I use that in quotes because there really isn't a female lead in Les Mis, although if there was one, it would be Eponine) there is always the supporting role of Madame Thenardier. Plus, Les Mis has a great ensemble capacity.

Definitely, definitely get some recording of it or go see the revival. You'll be glad you did.

If you have more of a soprano edge to you but you can still hit low notes, go for Fantine. It's a great role, the competition won't be as cutthroat as it will for Eponine and Cosette, and I personally think the actress playing Fantine has more to work with and more choices available.

Edit: about the low notes--Eponine has the most sustained low section, in A Little Fall of Rain, but Fantine has the lowest female notes in the show--"as they tear your hope apart" in I Dreamed a Dream, and "and you will be with God" in the finale, which I believe is a low D or optional F.

well i was tolds that when i was singinmg a scale to low e/f i lost my quality but when i sung high c it was more of a squeak than a note! Laughing
i feel comfortable singing a little fall of rain and the belty c's and e's that eppy sings in one day more. i've been told that i'm kinda small (height) for my age but i'm gonna be one of the older people auditioning. btw i think fantine goes to low Eb in finale so when (if!) i reach it, it's just like a rumble! Laughing
so do you think i should go for eponine? btw i can go for more than one!

As long as you're not drastically short, you should be fine. Eponine shouldn't be too tall anyway, in my opinion. Especially since she is constantly surrounded by men. I personally think the show would look visually awkward with a tall Eponine.

My school did Les Mis, and our Eponine wasn't short, but she was very small...like a twig...I kinda thought she was going to blow away, haha...
