SharingI've just uploaded some stuff over at YouTube and thought I'd share.If any of you have anything to share, please upload and post here. I love this stuff. Can't get enough! :S Here's the first one...it's the conclusion of the "Les Miserables" segment of the U.K.'s 1987 Royal Variety Performance. I've previously uploaded another portion in which original Japanese Eponine, Kaho Shimada, performs part of "On My Own" in her native tongue. Here she's seen again, performing "One Day More" in English, along with the following international cast... Jean Valjean - David "Dudu" Fisher (Israel) Cosette - Rebecca Caine (Original London Cast) Eponine - Kaho Shimada (Japan) Marius - Simon Bowman (London) Enjolras - Michael Maguire (Original Broadway Cast) Mme. Thenardier - Sue Jane Tanner (Original London Cast) I'm unsure as to who's playing the roles of Javert and Thenardier. I'd greatly appreciate if anyone can help identify them. =) Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2wj1ui0Ed8 And Pshhness - AHHHH!!! I'm getting around to sending you the rest of the Philly recording. So sorry for the delay. You probably hate me by now. I've taken so long. =( Btw, has Fantine been posting lately? Cause I asked her to sing "On My Own" for me to accompany a backing track I made and I'm now ready for her vocals. If you read this Fantine, PM me if you're still interested and we'll get started. |

A rare clip of Patti singing a shortened version of "I Dreamed a Dream," in full costume, at the U.K.'s 1988 (or 1989) Royal Variety Performance.

Re: Sharing[I'm unsure as to who's playing the roles of Javert and Thenardier. I'd greatly appreciate if anyone can help identify them. =)I think the Javert is Clive Carter and the Thenardier may be David Delve who were both in the cast when I first saw it. Tracy |

E! News behind the scenes segment on the show's 1st national tour's 1991 engagement at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. The marquee shots at the beginning are actually of the Shubert Theatre in L.A., back when the show's 2nd national tour premiered in 1988. This 1st national tour stop marked the show's 2nd Los Angeles engagement.

Quique, are you concerned that you are going to get in trouble with youtube, and your videos taken down? I have heard that youtube is starting to crack down on videos that have copyright issues and taking them down.
The Very Angry Woman |
They've been doing that for months. http://www.boingboing.net/2006/03/05/snl_natalie_portman_.html |

Quique |
Yes. I just created a thread about this over at Musical-Forums.net.
I just had my Sutton Foster "On My Own" boot removed by YouTube. Grrr. I recall The Very Angry Woman and I talking about this not too long ago and predicting that either their servers were going to blow or they'd start removing vids for copyright infringement. I'm not the least bit surprised about the outcome though. YouTube is going to be boring now. Oh well, I knew it was too good to last. :S |

Did you hear about GooTube? |
||
Quique |
Not until now.
I wonder if they'll change the site's layout and design. I hope not. I think its efficiency and clean layout are two factors that play a part in YouTube's success and popularity. Not to mention the boots and all the neat copyrighted stuff on there, hehe. I hate Google's video system. It's ugly and messy. At least they allow downloads but I hate it that they require their own player in order to view vids offsite. |

Where do you find these videos!!

I've posted this Les Mis 20/20 documentary before over at Mf.net but it required download and the file size was huge. It's now up at YouTube. =)
This was filmed before the show's Broadway premiere and after its highly successful American premiere engagement at Washington's Kennedy Center Opera House. Featured are scenes from the London production with members of the original cast, rehearsals for the Broadway premiere, and interviews with most of the creative team. Enjoy!!! That's great stuff!!! Thanks for sharing =D.

Youtube really is cracking down, I had to remove my Once On This Island clips, despite the fact that there are dozens more out there. Only I think that was because someone from the local community was a bastard and blew me in to MTI, without even discussing it with me first. But I digress. |

I've previously posted this as well but now it's also up at YouTube for your convenience.
It's a short documentary about the South African production, which played the Nico Opera House in Capetown during the fall of 1996, as part of the show's Asian/African tour. Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTs9pabcEGs Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPrijHAD24A Hope you like. |
||

That was cool! Ma-Anne Dionisio was in the South African video. In the first video she was in her Eponine costume waving to the video recorder along with the rest of the cast.

K...I've uploaded some more sh*t, lol.
Here's an Entertainment Tonight segment I recorded way back in 1993. It's about Andrea McArdle's return to Broadway in the role of Fantine, years after having originated the role of Annie at the age of 13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXd4IOyYTXc And I've posted the entire The Andrew Lloyd Webber Story from Stage on A&E. The quality of these clips is really pretty crappy but they're still enjoyable. =) Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZHkREOKaPQ Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pn8htqEJThQ Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oL-b4aJngB8 Part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MC7z7j5EFmg Part 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hx0blKHgSz0 Part 6: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChFUrUZqdgE Part 7: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqSO1yC1jtE Gonna go upload more sh*t!!!! I found this on Ricky Martin's Broadway debut as Marius in Les Mis that I recorded way back in 1996 off a Spanish station.
A translation is provided in the video description. God, Ricky is so gay, lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBhIo6AuxJs |

"Les Misrables: The Australian Sensation"
A documentary on the original Australian production of Les Misrables, which played Sydney's Theatre Royal from November, 1987 to July, 1989. This production has long been considered as the best in the world. Boasting a very strong cast and innovative choices in blocking and direction. Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqdjQLoTPoI Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-iupWoG0nA Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-2jKkmLmrs Part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=007FLx3oGC4 Part 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTPwK9NL45k Part 6: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxLxpyc0InU Part 7: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSQ45CNnBLA Debbie Byrne's Fantine was so much better live onstage. Her recorded performance = buttmunch. Also, there were rumors that she did drugs during her stint as Norma in Sydney's Sunset Blvd. Does anyone know if this is true? One thing I know is that she looks really high half the time during this documentary, lol. Her eyes are like bulging out of their sockets at certain points and she's all hyper, lol. This production had a HUGE young Cosette!!! She looks like 21 or something, lol!! Nah, I exaggerate, but she does look taller than most young Cosettes. A very young Anthony Warlow comes out in this. Funny how the early productions had their blonde Enjolras' wear black wigs. He looks more like Elvis with that thing on, lol. But, man, what great voice that dude has. The whole cast does an amazing job during all the ensemble clips. Pay special attention to the "Lovely Ladies" clips and their "One Day More" which is probably the best I've ever seen. And the clip of the finale at the end where they march forward gives me chills. Too bad it cuts off midway, grrr. Oh, and the quality is pretty craptastic but it's better than nothing. :S |

Check out this girl. School edition, I think, but she's very good IMHO. She doesn't overact or move around too much like most SE Eponine's that I've seen. |
||
windbelle |
Wow! Thanks Quique!!
I think the original Australian production is indeed one of the best, according to these clips. About Debbie Byrne, I found this on wikipedia:

I came across some more SE videos. The Eponine in this production is pretty good IMO, and I think the Valjean has potential to be great someday too. Overall, this is one SE that I think I would have not minded seeing, it has the feel of a scaled down version of a bigger production.

Eponine- On mY ownSabrina Aloueche at The Queens Theatre. Thought she was rather good personally! Recorded last week.http://www.sendspace.com/file/ln90gv |
||
Quique |
Thanks for that!
Eh...she's OK. She sounds like Diana Karrina. But a little bit better. And since when did they replace the harp with a piano??? Grrr. |
||
MrMarius |
There was once a harp???
Have to admit- the sound was minimal, they have cut down on a lot of the instruments used and it was mostly symphonia. A pity, as the most beautiful thing about this particular musical is the score itself imo, and we're losing alot of the magic because of this. Nevertheless, a fantastic cast this year.... shame we're losing a few of my personal faves.. |
||
Quique |
I agree. But...bah! At least your production still uses the original orchestrations! Grrr. Why, why...I'm so mad...I could tear Cameron A NEW ONE!!!! |

I was browsing Youtube and found these wonderful recordings! Thought maybe you guys hadn't heard them- or maybe you have- in any case- enjoy!
