Lazarus (Adam G)

Stephen Bishop and Ivan Rutherford

I just saw a video from somewhere from the 3rd North American Tour staring Ivan Rutherford as Valjean, Stephen Bishop as Javert, and Sutton Foster as Eponine.

It's amazing. Admittedly, I haven't seen many productions or heard that many recordings (I have a humble 4 recordings, 3 of which are official, plus several clippies).

Ivan Rutherford is an excellent actor; he has the right voice for Valjean (more of a baritone then a tenor in tone) but with a nice upper range. His "Bring Him Home" is very good.

Stephen Bishop is pretty creepy as Javert; pretty good with the acting aspect; he's got a nice voice, too. As cliched as it is, I still like Philip Quast better.

Thnardier is a good actor, but his voice is too rich and decent for such a wicked character. He's funny, but if I only had the audio I'd probably hate him.

Madam Thnardier is funny, and she's got a great voice; (this production has some vulgar moments, though...if you saw her, you'd know what I meant.)

Sutton Foster has a beautiful voice; she's a bit stiff, but I like her.

Gavroche is the creepiest child actor I've ever seen. He's terrible with acting and singing. I was cheering when they killed him.

Enjolras was way better then the guy in the 10th Anniversery; his acting is great, and he hits every note properly.

Everyone else does an excellent job. The sets are incredible; the staging is the same as most Les Miserables productions.

Great video, great production.
