Steve Balsamo Singing "Bring Him Home"Has anyone seen this video?http://www.stevebalsamo.net/Videos/Devon-Proms-Bring-Him-Home-19Jun05.wmv (Copyright 2005 by Black Queen from the official Steve Balsamo Website). -Lazarus, Slayer of Rabid fan-slaves |

Generally very good, however, I felt that he was too much of a tenor (if that makes sense) during the first verse. Slightly poor sound which was a mix of the camcorder used and the fact that his mic needed to be turned up louder because he was competing too much with the orchestra.
I think he could make a good Valjean. What has he done since JCS 8 years ago??? |

Loads of stuff...
On the theater front: The "Poe" Concept Album NOTRE DAME DE PARIS (playing Phobeus) Les Miserables (as Marius) Les Miserables 10th Anniversery Concert (in Chorus) Plus, he's appeared at the Ahoy! musicals show, shows at the Swansa Statium, and he's been touring with his band. This site has lots of downloads of him performing: http://www.stevebalsamo.net/SB-downloads.htm |

You mean as in the Dutch Ahoy musicals show? |
||||
Lazarus (Adam G) |
Possibly. Take a look:
http://www.stevebalsamo.net/Videos/Ahoy-Gethsemane-Jun04.wmv http://www.stevebalsamo.net/Videos/Ahoy-Immortal-Jun04.wmv Is that the show you're talking about? |
||||
Fantine |
Yes Yes it is. I adored his Gethsemane! Thank you so much!
Labrie |
Steves awesome but his voice doesnt fit well with Jean Valjean role. Hes too much of a tenor like someone said before, but maybe this feelings caused by Colm Wilkinson who i considered is the ideal Jean Valjean.

Do you have a high quality mp3 version of his Gethsemane at Ahoy? It is amazing. Truely amazing... The one on his site isn't of that amazing quality...
I liked his Bring Him Home altough I, too, prefer a darker voice |

Wow! I loved his Gethsemene, as Fantine said. It's just awsome!
Is there any download of that which I can stick on my iPod (ie not a video version, just the music)? His emotion is fantastic, and he really 'brought me in'. Argh! It's made me want to see it again! Why is it off the West End? Does anyone know when or if it will come back? By the way, sorry to change the topic! |

Thanks a lot Moci! Quick question; I have a Jesus Christ Superstar with the following cast: Judas ~ Murray Head Jesus ~ Ian Gillan Mary ~ Yvonne Elliman Priest ~ Paul Raven Caiaphas ~ Victor Brox Annas ~ Brian Keith Simon Zealotes ~ John Gustafson Pilate ~ Barry Dennen Maid ~ Annette Brox Peter ~ Paul Davis Herod ~ Mike d'ABO Can you please tell me what this cast is, and what recording. And also what the recording that you showed me is, with what cast; that'd be great. Thanks a lot. |

Fantine |
Yvonne Elliman was the Mary Magdalene from the movie version... Right?
olly |
I'm not sure - my sister has taken the movie with her to Uni. |
||||

Original Concept Album cast. Yvonne Elliman was Mary on the Concept Album, Original Broadway and Original Movie. The cast on the recording I showed you is the 1996 Lyceum Revival cast, with a replacement for Herod. Jesus: Steve Balsamo Judas: Zubin Varla Mary: Joanna Ampil Herod: Alice Cooper Pilate: David Burt Simon: Glenn Carter and lots of other people whose names I can't remember at the moment. |

Lazarus (Adam G) |
I wouldn't get the Lyceum CD if I were you. He didn't do as good on the CD as he did at Ahoy.
Here, if anyone wants any of my recordings, download them here: http://mowpt.dyndsl.com/Adam/Da%20JCS/ http://mowpt.dyndsl.com/Adam/Da%20JCS2/ I have a couple of his Gethsemanes there. Anyway, back on topic... I think that Valjean should have a deeper voice than Steve Balsamo's. But I still like this version because Balsamo gives it his all. He is really talented. Still, Colm Wilkinson will always be my favourite. |

Fantine |
Thank you! There are so many to choose from! :O Which is his best in your opinion? (So I can download that).
Lazarus (Adam G) |
That's a hard one...
Hmm...out of the ones I've recently heard, I really like this one: http://mowpt.dyndsl.com/Adam/Da%20JCS/Wien%202005/ If you want more of Steve Balsamo's Gethsemanes, check here: http://mowpt.dyndsl.com/Adam/Da%20JCS/Gethsemane%20Collection/Steve%20Balsamo%20Gethsemanes/ Another good one: http://mowpt.dyndsl.com/Adam/Da%20JCS/2003%20Cast/ This is from the 2003 North American Tour, staring Eric Kunze as Jesus (who played Marius on Broadway) and Lawerence Clayton as Judas. |

If I want one of Steve's Gethesemane's in High (as in enjoyable in the CD player) quality, I'll have to buy the JCS album with him and Jo Ampil... right?
olly |
Wow, Lazarus, thanks! I'll start treking through them
Lazarus (Adam G) |
No problem!
I could try to convert the Ahoy Gethsemane into Mp3 sound format. I'll tell you if I get it too work! |

Wow, yay! I'll listen to it as soon as I get back home later today!
olly |
Again thanks. Can you tell me what cast this is, what recording? Thanks.
Lazarus (Adam G) |
That is a soundboard recording from the 2005 German Concert (sung in English). It stars Drew Sarich as Jesus, Serkan Kaya as Judas, Claudia Stangl as Mary, Andr Bauer as Herod. |
